  1. He took a lot of crap because about his baseball IQ because of his base running but the art of hitting requires a high baseball IQ. It's like he can do to major league pitching what most of us have trouble doing in slow pitch softball and that is seeing the opening on the field and having the hand high coordination and bat control to hit it where he wants to much of the time.
  2. Thank you. He is my adopt -a-prospect from a long time ago when they used to do that in Future Sox. I wonder who was the last prospect adopted around here ?
  3. Bauer doesn't use anything if you are talking about the stickyish substance that everyone was making a fuss about in the off season. I believe he said he used it once to make a point that he could be even nastier if he used it.
  4. I expect this to be used in all his starts but it is now a copyrighted phrase and all must pay.
  5. Youth and part of being young is mental approach but he is also learning and trying to perfect new things like the muscle memory required to keep your body balanced and not fall off the mound to his left. Katz worked with him with some kind of device to force him to keep his weight forward to sight his target more consistently and keep the same release point. In the post game interview he said Lance Lynn gave him good advice about picking out a target to throw to or something like that. With the curve he said it was the catchers mask or a little higher. It's very difficult for any pitcher make all these changes from what you have done all your life because those are the things that got him here. You have to humble yourself and start fresh and trust in you coach. Some just cannot give that trust so easily nor makes the changes and stick with them. To Cease's credit he appears to be working hard and believes what he's doing now is the right approach but there will always be times when his body can fall back into old habits. The changes have to become 2nd nature to him.
  6. Maybe not. Long way to go and I really don't think, even if he stays healthy, he'll command more than 2-3 years. I seriously doubt anyone offers him 3/60 , not with his injury history , plus there's a long way to go on that front too.
  7. Good game. Rodon has been amazing. 1st AL pitcher in history to have 1st 4 starts of season all with 7+ K's and 3 or fewer hits. Nothing to complain about the whole game thread. Tough matchup for Vaughn today. At least he got a walk. Collins ,Leury ,Lamb all contributed with 3 of the 4 total hits. Hamilton with the RBI GO and Leury with the 2 RBI single. The bench and Rodon won that game.
  8. Yes all double headers are 7 innings this year.
  9. Typical short thread when it comes to complimenting a guy nobody wanted. However everyone here gets the benefit of the doubt as we wait to see if he can stay relatively healthy and keep producing.
  10. Ok will save this for tomorrow then ! If this isn't played at home games , it seriously should be !
  11. Dude no one wants to hear common sense fatherly advice. On that note at the beginning of yesterday's game thread I wanted to turn the Tiger's into roadkill ( in a competitive non violent way of course) and the lack of a killer instinct reared it's ugly head in the game yesterday. S let's hate on the opposition more than our own team !
  12. That's why it bugs me when people call him soft. I imagine these pudgy beer swilling , Stay Puft Marshmallow Man looking fans burping and calling Moncada soft when it's possible he plays in pain every day. I wouldn't call that soft, I'd call it courageous . Perspective is everything. Calling someone soft because he always seems hurt is the wrong prespective.
  13. Maybe he has that 5 game streak because LaRussa plays him in favorable matchups ? Just a thought.
  14. Robert is sick literally. Covid protocols .
  15. Depends on if that cut bothers him and opens up and we have another bloody situation like with Crochet.
  16. It was hard to like the Lynn for Dunning trade even though I predicted it. I just wanted it to happen at the 2020 trade deadline so we had Lynn for the playoffs instead of Dunning and for all of 2021 . I liked it for 1.5 seasons of Lynn , and not as much for 1 season, but still thought a starter of his caliber was needed and since they weren't spending any money it was about the best starter we could get for Dunning taking Lynn's relatively small salary into consideration. Eaton I liked and got into it about him with your arch rival.
  17. Yea lots of very wrong people around here SO FAR. Plenty wanted Hendricks some didn't think he was needed. Eaton, hardly anyone was pleased with his acquisition. The Lynn trade was hated by many , maybe split half and half here on that. Still might be half and half. Rodon costs less than any of them and is paying off the most (arguably).
  18. That was an amazing piece of hitting. He took a fastball way up and away and pulled it to hit a HR. Not exactly pulled pulled but to RCF. I could understand if he hit it oppo for a HR but pulling that pitch is something you don't see often.
  19. Exactly which is why I said what I did about the pen and Kopech. Fortunately there are always BP arms available and I think people are in Fantasyland when it comes to guys like Scherzer and Bryant . Pitching always is needed any time. Big names are sexy to talk about but we all know there won't be any major additions just tweaks to shore things up.
  20. For you or me ? You're talking about kitties and bunnies when it's time to kick the crap out of our opponent ?
  21. What's wrong with that ? Perfect 5 PM start time in California . Too late for a nap , too early to keep you awake pasted your bedtime. You might be on the road coming home from work but I like starting the games late from the beginning on the MLB app so I can skip commercials and catch up to the game right around the 8th inning if its close.
  22. Ok this may be good for the video game generational but doesn't work well at the ball park when hateful chants for the opponents are required . You want cuddly kittens I prefer roadkill ! Fuck Detroit !
  23. I'm with you and your 2 main reasons whatever they may be. But if I had to make a choice now it would be a solid relief pitcher. The pen is very young and could use a quality veteran and a long man especially if Kopech is going to get some starts that limit his BP usage. He's too good to waste in the long man role.
