  1. Yes they did they announced it an inning earlier during the game.
  2. Too bad the Sox won''t get a chance to win it in the bottom of the 9th.
  3. That MLB contest with the 100K prize only pays out if you pick all 15 games right on opening days. Plus you are only allowed 1 entry. Should make it a !M for those kinds of rules.
  4. Collins should make the opening day roster and has a good chance to stick all year.
  5. He;s been talking all the time about wanting to start as if him being in relieve was distasteful to him.
  6. Looks like one of those games where Yermin or Collins will walk it off.
  7. Might not even miss Kopech if Cease and Lopez both are better than last year and if one of them is significantly better. Then there are wild cards coming off injury like Rodon, Lambert and Dunning. If the Sox end up jettisoning Herrera and Fulmer before the season starts or slightly after if they are ineffective and replace them with guys like Lambert, Dunning, Heuer. Would be a lot youth in the pen but it's decent depth in my eyes.
  8. Well as long as we are claiming to be right . This my post with the names now plugged into it to prove I was right. Our best hope is they get 2 headliners 1 from the starting pitching group (Keuchel) and 1 from positional players (Grandal) then mix and match to maximize power, (Grandal, Encarncion, Mazara) OBP (Grandal,Encarnacion) left handedness (Grandal, Mazara, Gio Gonzalez, Keuchel)) , positional versatiilty, defense (Grandal) and the bullpen(Cishek). If they keep these things in mind there are plenty of names that could be had on reasonable deals. Hahn basically followed my plan to a tee. And with Robert looking great and Cease looking pretty good and Lambert Dunning and Rodon all looking like they could contribute significantly it's looking even better than I had hoped for this year.Sucks to lose Mazara for however long it is though and Kopech.
  9. I said social distancing in the dugout not the training room. I have not seen that. Players are very close together unmasked. It's easy to see watching any highlights of the games. I only asked if you can confirm what you said about wearing masks in the training room by actually being in a training room lately. If the answer to that is no i will still trust that they are wearing masks in there because you say so even if you haven't seen it with your own eyes. I'm sure you might still have connections in that regard.
  10. If by "good to see me coming around" means I completely disagree that we can all agree bmags was right then yes I am coming around. But hey if bmags feels vindicated by the Dodgers signing him to a long term deal then I do agree he has every right to feel the way he feels after we were meanies to him.
  11. Yes we can all agree the Sox could have traded for him , without crippling their young pitching staff , still had a chance to compete this year ,signed him to a $350M contract for 10 years and approach the Dodgers and other teams at the height of the salary structure and kept on making the playoffs every year . Lead pipe cinch.
  12. I thought they both are with the Mets and maybe Cordell is too.
  13. Yes really he supposedly had a deal in the works with the Giants then he tested positive and bye bye deal.
  14. I will trust you on that but have you been in the training room of any team since summer camp started ? Social distancing is required too isnt it ? But I don't see much of that going on in the dugouts and i have watched every single televised game .
  15. I am also cautiously optimistic but also realize ,as you do, that these players are in close contact in the dugout and probably other places like the training room and they are adverse to wearing masks while playing and probably trust the protocols a little more than they should.
  16. LOl naw sorry It would be Mookie Betts and a bunch of scrubs with the the way the Sox do business. I don't remember if I ever said he wouldn't sign before FA but he certainly would have if the Sox traded for him because there's no way the Sox would have signed him for what the Dodgers eventually do.Just because he resigned with the Dodgers only makes you partially right. But you actually thinking the Sox could pull it off was wrong. Winning is fucking awesome not depleting your whole roster just to have Mopkie Betts . Only a team like the Yankees or Dodgers could have accomplished this.
  17. Except there's a big difference in the Dodgers trading for a guy like Betts and the Sox trading for him and hoping to resign him coming out of a rebuild and needing every plus arm like Cease. The Dodgers have made the playoffs many years in a row and have seemingly unlimited resources. The Sox have never even been to the playoffs 2 years in a row and never have nor will they ever come close to salary tax limitations. Now if you had argued it makes sense for the Dodgers to trade for him and try to resign him I would have agreed with you. but the Sox ? nahhhh ! So you were still wrong and that's not being mean its just we are not the Dodgers.
  18. Yes successful so far but it hasn't been that long that summer camp started and everyone came into camp after testing negative and now MAYBE Mazara has it. Let's just hope we are all jumping to conclusions and its just a bad cold or a flu.
  19. Only because you want to believe science has it under control which they do not.
  20. And I haven't seen one player on the Sox batting or fielding with a mask on which means they are entering the dugout without a mask in close contact with many other players in the dugout who also aren't wearing masks.
  21. More like the lineup in the next week. If it is Covid no telling how much this can snowball. 1 player next week one the week after and on and on.
  22. Probably as good as Mazara . Yea i guess so if you use WAR since Leury's fielding and speed would probably give him a boost but Leury does not have the potential to have a break out year and hit the equivalent of 30+ HR's or put up a better OPS than Mazara. Losing Mazara also hurts the bench depth. If Mazara had a break out year that would have greatly increased the Sox chances to make the playoffs and his trade value. Leury is 29 so we can pretty much guess he's a finish product. Mazara was 24 when the Sox traded for him and turned 25 in May and despite the proclamations of some that he is what he is, that is hardly the case with most ball players that age , especially ones that were so good that they could play a full year in the majors at the age of 21. Mazara is a month younger than Moncada. Giolito broke out at age 25 after being the worst pitcher in baseball for a year. Luis Robert will be 23 in 2 weeks and has yet to play an inning in MLB.
  23. Mazara was also having a great spring training .364 .462 .545 1.007 . Loved that 1 Ab we saw recently in the intrasquad game when he just placed the ball on the ground towards SS when they shifted on him to get a single and drive in a run . If that was Madrigal everyone would have been raving about his baseball IQ.
