  1. He said after the game the plan was to work on the curve. It's very difficult for a pitcher to have all his pitches working in one game. He did just fine without it last year but if he can find more consistency with it to allow him to throw it more often it gives u a great fallback option should another pitch not be working that particular day.
  2. Lots of good arms. No idea how it'll play out in season but impressive in the little we have seen the last couple days. The Sox could have a very real chance of winning the division or more if guys like Heuer, Dunning ,Guerrero, Lambert etc step up while the starters keep us in the game for 5 innings.
  3. Easy rapport between Garfien and Jason. Obviously no MLB insight like from Stone but I still like them.
  4. From the game thread after the game we heard about Giolito say Madrigal and Vaughn were a pain in his ass. To expand on that here is the full quote from whitesox.com “Today, facing Nick Madrigal and Andrew Vaughn, they're a pain in my [butt],” Giolito said. “You've got Nick spitting on some fastballs just out of the zone, shooting one to right field. Andrew Vaughn, when I was throwing to him in quarantine -- back when we were in California, I was throwing live bullpens, and he faced me -- he's one of the few guys I've noticed that can really see my changeup well, and he'll spit on my changeup just out of the zone.
  5. I really love to watch them roll, No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go.
  6. People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing, Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin, When I say that I'm o.k. they look at me kind of strange, Surely your not happy now you no longer play the game,
  7. Once a guy does anything out of the ordinary he is branded as a flake because he doesnt follow the wolfpack, It's the most idiotic group mentality bullshit ever. And the fact that its applied to Kopech during this pandemic is truly asinine.
  8. And I don’t want the world to see me ‘Cause I don’t think that they’d understand When everything’s made to be broken I just want you to know who I am.
  9. To be fair. Can there be no such thing as a spontaneous answer anymore without people saying he said the wrong thing ? Must everything be some kind of prepared statement any time you talk to the media because too many people stick their noses into things that don't concern them ? Kopech could have 1 reason or 10 reasons why he opted out. What's he supposed to do give a damn dissertation on it so we can all get our voyeuristic rocks off on it ? Move along , nothing to see here. This season is a clusterfuck. Try to enjoy what little baseball we are going to get.
  10. I wouldn't care if it was you who helps someone get better, A player is essentially in charge of his own destination. Help can come from anyone if you choose to accept it. This tape will self destruct in 10 seconds.
  11. Tell me something I don't know. I know their age difference. I chose the wording toe to toe because that's a boxing term. Now if at the age of 22 you become a great fighter and the your biggest challenger happens to be 27 could they not go toe to toe in the same ring ? They are both rookies in MLB i see no difference .They are now in the same ring after hitting basically the same last year in another comparable ring. My opinion is Yermin could hit almost as well as Robert. He won't leg out any hits like Robert will and he won't get the same opportunities and his career won't be as long because he is not a complete baseball player and that has been the long route to the same ring where Robert now stands, Different paths same destination at the same time mainly because they had the same results in the same situation. My analogy make more sense because we are talking about a physical gift not a mental one and comparing 2 adults, not an adult to a child.Yermin has always been able to hit even if you think it's because he was always older than the competition. I have seen nothing to suggest from his time at AAA or his time in both parts of ST that his gift of hitting a baseball is some kind of fluke.
  12. Just so everyone knows Timmy hit 2 HR's in today's intrasquad game and now has 3 since they started . Collins followed up yesterdays HR with a double single and walk. Yermin had a 2 RBI single and a diving catch in LF to rob Eloy who prompted flipped him off if that's what Fegan meant by a playfully hostile gesture in his Tweet.
  13. I agree. Everyone is so excited about Robert because of 5 spectacular tools but Yermin went to to toe with him hitting in AAA.
  14. Seems strange to just throw them away. Need those faces for every home game. But then again some may get ruined by rain sooner or later.
  15. 3 scoreless against a good lineup is great.
  16. The bullpen could have some surprises for sure if not on opening day surely as the season progresses. Lambert could be in the mix , Dunning too as you mentioned. Fulmer hasn't done anything yet to think he wouldn't make it. I keep hoping he finds it. It's not like he has bad stuff. Quite the contrary he just cant control it. If he ever can he will be effective out there.
  17. Lambert He struck out Grandal but Grandal didn't like the call from the catcher/ump. K'd Eloy, gave up the HR to Mazara then K'd Robert. Cease hard to tell . His 1st inning he gave up a hit to Yermin a bunt hit by Engel then 2 batters I don't know the results . Then a couple of errors by Anderson and Abreu put Madrigal on 3rd base and looks like 1 run scored from the video. Not much twitter news of that inning . His 2nd inning Vaughn, Cuthbert no idea then game ends after K's of Mercedes and Engel.
  18. Gio Gonzalez and Dane Dunning get the starts today So great to see all the injured arms like Rodon, Dunning and Lambert pitching , Such a shame Kopech couldn't be among them. I'm also getting the feeling that the bullpen could have a few surprises to start the season. Is it possible Lambert and Dunning could be in the pen ? I know it's a lot to expect but if Dunning can impress the way Lambert has so far we're all going to be stoked about the possibilities.
  19. https://www.si.com/mlb/whitesox/news/super-joe-speaks-im-smiling-under-my-mask 16 minutes with Merkin, Levine etc after the game. Sounds very high on Mazara also and how the coaching staff tweaked a few things with him which, long ago, after we acquired him I thought they would do. Everyone needs to hear Joe McEwing talk about Robert and the other guys. The Robert falling down HR was perhaps the biggest player performance highight of the day nationally. Super Joe will get you pumped up !
  20. Sox on 35th again with highlights and a recap. If you haven't visited there ., it's very good and easy to navigate website Just a quick few notes here. Yermin Mercedes played LF. Besides the Robert falling down HR , Collins , Mazara, Engel all went deep. Mazara, Engel and Mercedes each had 2 hits in the 5 inning game. The Robert HR was definitely the highlight of the day on Twitter. Late in the game it seems the media got bored or disinterested so it was difficult to learn much more from Tweets. Rodon looked good early . Rodon went 3 innings giving up 1 run on the Robert HR. Remember these guys are just getting work in but results don't mean too much and there are not too many rules. Rodon pitched to 5 batters in the 1st inning and they all made outs. Very encouraging work today from Rodon. Rey gave up HR's to Collins and Engel. Lambert and Cease also pitched. According to Sam Shepherd of SouthsideHitPen he looked very crisp. Sam also seems to like Yermin.
  21. i kinda think its all been in the catch all thread. But that's the kind of enthusiasm i like to see. This place is still a little slow getting back in the swing of things and it's harder to keep up unless people like you step forward . SO thank you.
  22. As if one has anything to do with the other ? Atrocities litter the pages of history , they still do in the present . Kopech is a young man at the pinnacle of his profession. If he chooses not to pitch in a season where you have the choice not too because your employer said it's ok who are you to say he doesn't have any balls ? He isn't a canary in a coalmine.
  23. Don't know about that. There are people who cannot put themselves in other peoples shoes. If a troll is someone who deliberately makes comments to stir the pot then he's not trolling if he truly believes what he just wrote.
