The Sox arent paying anyone besides Robert and Benintendi . They have one of the lowest payrolls in baseball. WTF are u talking about ? You do know it's has to cost money to field 26 MLB players not to mention paying call ups MLB minimum wage when guys get injured.

It's 100 to pick a rule 5 and 50 to return him. So that's $150K By paying $25K the Cubs cost is $75K thus saving them $75K . Sox get a rule 5 for $25K but will cost $50 to return him or $75K total. So by paying the Cubs $25K they are basically splitting the cost of him being returned but if the Sox keep him they're paying only 25% of the cost to draft a Rule 5 guy.

Bottom line is you have to give the kid a shot because statically he's raking and he's a good fielder and that might be because he's taking walks this year and that might actually have helped him be a better hitter unlike Robert. Vaughn can't field, hit, walk or run. Send him down. Maybe he'll be worth more if he can light up Charlotte . He's got all his options. Statistically he's the worst player in baseball. There's nothing to lose here. It's the hitting that is making the Sox truly terrible. They'd be around 95-100 loss team with even a little bit more hitting, both power and batting average.

You know or you should know if you bothered to look it up, that the Sox pitching staff as a whole is 21st in ERA but like 5 teams are decimal points apart of being tied at 4.2 . The bullpen is worse than 4.2 but again nowhere near worst in baseball. Have you seen the Nats and Phillies BP ? Atrocious. Sox are around 24th in ERA and better than that in WHIP. Nothing to brag about of course, but not bad for the amount of money they spent on it . And even though you continually associate Getz with that he doesn't control how much money he gets to spend .He only controls what he does with the amount he is allowed. We have no idea if there is a separate amount for payroll for players and coaches or a lump sum he has to figure out how much goes to players / coaches on the field every day and how much he's spending behind the scenes on research and analysis, modern equipment like the $800K Trajekt Machine and tablets that players use to access game plan and statisical info. My guess is early in his tenure ,meaning his 1st 2 or 3 years that he'll be spending more than he will later on modernizing because there's a lot to catch up on. Whether or not that affects player payroll I have no idea. I think you're a smart guy but your posting style is lazy and you post meatball style because everything is just so terrible you can get away with making blanket statements that indict everything the Sox do. Considering the devastating amount of pitching injuries, with many considered vital to depth for the club this year and the future, they've weathered the storm pretty well. But they can't take too many more hits. They're already playing around with openers which they haven't done much in the past. Who knows maybe that'll be helpful for the future.Some teams have made it work strategically. Be better.
