QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) Other animals mate for life with some pairs cheating, some not, so it isn't necessarily a human thing. I guess I don't define "desire to cheat" the same as "finding someone attractive." Wait, people actually do? That seems absurd.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 11:33 AM) As a friend of mine once told me, "Just because you are on a diet, doesnt mean you cannot look at the menu." I think every man and woman thinks about it, acting on it is a completely different animal. Like Howard Wolowitz said, "Bernadette doesn't care where I get my motor running, as long as I park it in the right garage."

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) I always felt like Bielema came off as a monster douche as well. I hope he struggles mightily. I agree with this 1000%. He looked, acted and sounded like an incredible douchebag at all times during his tenure as head coach. Good riddance, for the rest of the conference. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 01:45 PM) It probably won't ever happen. Shh, let a man with s***ty internet dream.

Hot damn. Going into the last week, I was 4-8 and in 9th (top 8 make playoffs). Guy in 8th was 4-8 but had about 62 points on me, and guy in 7th was 5-7 with about 52 points on me. Therefore, I figured the only way I was getting in was for me to win and the other 4-8 guy to lose. WRONG. I put up by far my highest point total of the season (137.94), and won. The other 4-8 guy won too. The 5-7 guy? He lost and only put up 65.46 points. I had to make up 52 points on him, and got him by more than 72. Never saw that one coming.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) Well, I am a big fan of dark beers...either stouts or brown ales...so Guiness, Newcastle, etc. Anyways, they make a Hazelnut Brown Ale that is marvelous. Has been my favorite beer for about 15 months or so now. Haha, we're at the opposite ends of the spectrum then. In fact, last night I was just telling the roommate I mentioned in the previous post that I just don't like Brown Ales. I'm in the wheat beers, pilseners, pale ales, and IPAs side of things. Stouts, brown ales and porters are just not appealing to me.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) No, Comcast is a terribly run company...the only thing is their product is solid...it works, it's very fast, and tends to have very few outages. Comcast, for Internet, is an unfortunate recommendation I must make to everyone. When it comes to TV service...I don't see a difference in any of them, be they wired or dish, and aside from their introductory prices, they're mostly the exact same costs. Sadly, I have to agree with this. Last year, the apartment I lived in required me to have Comcast. I just hate dealing with Comcast, so I was happy when my apartment this year uses DirecTV and CenturyLink. I'm really happy with DirecTV, but OH MY is CenturyLink terrible. Just so, so slow compared to what I was getting with Comcast. What I really want is for Google to roll out their fiber network up here, so I can get speeds literally 1,000x faster than I do now. Too bad that won't happen for a decade.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 01:01 PM) Do you guys get any of the Rogue beers from Oregon over there? By far and away my favorite. Not sure about Minneapolis, but we did back when I lived in Bloomington, IN. My roommate always drank Dead Guy Ale (I think that was the name of it?), but I never had any. I'll check next time I'm at the liquor store. In case they have some, any recommendations on what to get?

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 10:29 AM) Must be nice to actually be able to get NG stuff. Sucks for anyone outside of Wisconsin that actually wants to try it, though. Same deal with Hill Farmstead in Vermont. Plenty of stuff both make, that will never see the light of day outside of their states, and DEFINITELY not down in South Carolina. I live about 40-45 minutes from Wisconsin, and I'm jealous of one of my college roommates who lives in Madison now and can get it any day he pleases. But at least I'm able to get it occasionally; it would indeed suck to be that far away. Does South Carolina have much in the way of an active craft scene?

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) I'm assuming the guy was killed. Is the story online somewhere? Kinda shocking to run that pic. Not just "kinda."

2012-2013 Official NHL thread
farmteam replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
With the lack of the NHL, I was still able to get a little taste of hockey the other night. Went to the Minnesota vs. Nebraska-Omaha game on Saturday. The Gophers have this kid who was drafted by the Panthers in the first round in 2010 (Nick Bjugstad), man is he a big boy. -

QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) That's an awesome beer. It's not at all to style but who cares. Yeah, when I tried it for the first time last week, my initial reaction was, "Wow, this is not what I was expecting, but it is very good."

QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) New Glarus makes a really good sour beer. They are fast becoming one of my favorite microbrews. Currently sipping on a Laughing Fox. So damn good. It's similar to a Fin du Monde or Hoegaarden.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 09:13 AM) I'm starting to have trouble suspending disbelief on HomeLand. I have still enjoyed the season but it seems more cartoonish than last. Most definitely. I still enjoy watching it, but it's not at all realistic right now.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) Loved the Boardwalk Empire finale. It was a great. Just an phenomenal season. Frankly, it was one of the strongest seasons of any TV show I've ever seen.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2012 -> 05:22 PM) legitimately don't know what this is! The gist is that they prevent a trust beneficiary's creditors from touching any of the money in the trust. So, let's say Bill Gates has a playboy son whose only income is from this billion dollar trust. When the playboy son racks up huge debt, the creditors are unable to touch any of the money in the trust, even though the son can still use it.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 10:16 AM) Yeah, we're there. She'll chew through wood, books, etc. I'll be glad when this is over. She thinks anything and everything is a project and needs to be chewed. We had the "beginner" one to start and eventually she got through that, so we've moved up a level or two. I've heard rubbing tabasco into things pups chew on gets them to stop immediately. No idea on its actual effectiveness, though.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Almost every dollar is taxed more than once. I see inheritance as nothing more than another income source. It wasn't your money. Do you apply this logic to spendthrift clauses in trusts? EDIT: Legitimately curious, not trying to be a jerk.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 1, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) Cant act like nothing happened though. I say do a moment of silence for the girlfriend, their kid, her family and the player's family. All of them are the victims in this situation. I agree, something along those lines. The Chiefs and the NFL have done a good job so far about saying the right things that their thoughts and prayers are with the families affected, so something in the vain should suffice.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) Checked out his twitter and he seems to be affiliated with some "Gimme eem" saying/shirt/?? so in the spirit of that... #coop'llfixeem! I haven't looked at his twitter, but are you referring to the "GOT EEEM" thing? That's from Kevin Millar on Intentional Talk.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 06:18 AM) So, does anyone know if mood stabilizers can just like...eliminate moods all together? My seizure medication is also a mood stabilizer and ever since it went into full effect I've felt like a large part of me has been missing. I've always been a very passionate and emotional person, yet it seems gone. I mean I asked out a friend two weeks ago and when she turned me down I quite literally felt nothing, whereas in the past I'd be upset for a while. Or I'm just not stressed out at all about all my tests, papers, and projects being due soon...which sounds good until the fact that I work best under stress. Hell, I went and looked at my poetry and I've written 3 poems since July, when I use to turn out two a month...and those past three were written without emotion. I dunno. It's just really, really weird. Perhaps talk to your doctor about trying a different medication? Though, I'm sure with all the troubles you had with seizures, you'd be reluctant to give up on this one if it's helped with them.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 09:57 AM) I've never used one before, but my thoughts on 3D televisions is that they will never really breakout until they figure out a way to use them without glasses. Until then, I'd have a hard time being convinced to buy one. My thoughts exactly. Just don't see it happening otherwise.
