  1. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) Good. I've said it before and I will say it again, Sox hold the chips here. Get what you want or don't trade him. I don't want some garbage deal that doesn't include multiple headliners. The Sox need to win this trade massively - the future of the franchise relies on it. This is exactly the way it should be. If we don't get the return we deserve for a player of Sale's caliber then we don't make a trade. If we regroup for 2017 we build around pitching
  2. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 05:59 PM) Triumvirate of stupidity=KW, Hahn and Jerry. I have this horrible feeling that Hahn will feel the desperation and deal Sale for a very underwhelming package. I have zero trust in these guys to run a successful rebuild. I don't think Hahn would do that. He has made comments in the past that he won't trade just to trade. We aren't the ones desperate to acquire a top five pitcher. I think the desperate one's are people thinking we have to trade Sale or Quintana and will be screaming if we don't. You get what you want for someone like Sale or you don't trade. He has tons of value to the Sox too
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 07:11 PM) There is a zero chance that any Chris Sale deal doesn't involve liberal input from not only Kenny Williams, but JR as well. This is so true. People may not like KW much but I think trades like this especially involve multiple layers of management input. I just hope that if we do in fact trade Sale that the Sox go GREEDY when demanding a return and stay firm.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 11:08 PM) Wonder how soon before we get a tweet connecting us to Sox killer Kurt Suzuki? Don't let Hawk hear this or we will real quick
  5. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 08:43 PM) The best player in that package is Bellinger. And even he doesn't impress me all that much. We are talking about Chris Sale here. The story mentions three top of the line veteran stars going to LA for a handful of prospects. Stupid story
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 11:29 PM) It's pretty messed up and disgraceful from "professionals" but these are teenagers and boys will be boys. To take a line from our new president "it's locker room stuff"
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 05:36 PM) Well said, good friend. I've already come to grips with seeing Sale in a different uniform. It is what it is. All I hope is the Sox improve from this process. What I fear is unrealistic expectations and panic if trades aren't made. Reading these various threads makes you shake your head in wonder. Every Sox player is traded
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:29 AM) If he doesn't rebound, Hahn is going to be ruing the trade deadline the last couple of years when he had opportunities to dump that contract. Rebuilding teams can't afford to pay elite closer salaries (especially for non-elite performance). For much of the last two seasons, the argument was that his save conversion rate was decent and mostly that his peripherals were impressive or at least looked better than the traditional metrics. But it was obvious over the course of the season that his stuff was just not as crisp...maybe his confidence was shaken a bit in the middle of the season or he was "overused" in the first half, but he nevertheless goes into the offseason (due to the injury) with nobody realistically knowing what to expect in 2017. Someone mentioned that Jansen, Chapman and Melancon being out there complicates his trade market...not only that, but the Royals are sitting on Wade Davis, who's a year away from free agency. Miller's name is coming up a lot in Cleveland, because of their payroll/budget and the absolute haul they could get for him. So until those five situations are clarified, Robertson is likely stuck with the Sox and vice-versa. I think Robertson showed he could rebound. Maybe he stays with the Sox
  9. Trading two star players for prospects is a risky deal. The main thing is not to sell our players cheap just because someone thinks we are backed into a corner and must trade. You better get a haul and none of this settling for second best
  10. If true I wonder if his injuries are more serious then we have been told. If he is healthy again I think a release is a bad move. He is a good team player with lots of rah-rah, which is good to have when tying to motivate people

  13. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) He's averaged 3.8 fWAR per 162 games played for his career. Even in a down year like last year he managed 2.4 fWAR, which is above average. He also had a unsustainable .236 BABIP last year that hurt him. Guys that can play solid defense at 3rd and hit 40 home runs don't grow on trees. Frazier definitely has value. Which in my opinion means we keep Frazier. You are just weakening this team by tearing down our strengths instead of building on them
  14. If folks think they are antics keep in mind he is a COMPETITOR 100%
  15. I took this off a cbs sports report on the Brewers. In the minors he showed some power and speed stealing 66 bases one year. Nothing wrong about picking up a guy with some talent and letting him play in the minors Brewers' Rymer Liriano: Remains without return timetable by RotoWire Staff May 22, 2016 • 1 min read Liriano (face) remains without a timetable to resume baseball activities, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Liriano continues to recover from facial injuries suffered when he was struck by a pitch in the face during spring training, and still has a way to go in the process. The Brewers will continue being cautious with Liriano, and GM David Stearns indicated there's a chance he could miss the entire season.
  16. Big Game Shields just might surprise us in 2017
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 09:12 PM) Good post, but we have acquired some very bad players the past several seasons. Very bad. The results we received from some players weren't something that could have been expected. Dunn was an absolute bust his first year here. Real bad is not even the right label to put on his season. But, he did turn it around power wise which is why we got him. Plus folks calling Reinsdorf names and a failure etc better understand that the man OWNS the Sox. Heck, we could be perennial cellar dwellers and he would still be the owner. There is no benefit to be calling for his replacement. If he sells that is his call to make not a bunch of rabid posters on this site. I don't like where we have finished anymore than the next guy but I do admire Jerry's loyalty to his people
  18. The sky is falling stuff is getting old. This organization has been around for over a hundred years. Its future is not at risk. The Sox have tried to improve the team and compete every year. True it has not been real pretty the last four or so, but it's not from lack of effort in my opinion. Depending on how you measure success there are 28 other clubs that can be considered failures if the prize is the World Series. I am interested in the moves we make this off season and will not buy into gloom and doom
  19. Pretty really. Either teams pay the price we ask for sale and/or Quintana or we don't trade. We don't have to dial down on our demands. I personally would rather keep both
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) No big surprise there. First year in forever that he was healthy, and he just fell on his face. Exactly and I expect we will see some more moves like this as we clear our non-performers and fringe out. I wouldn't expect any splashy moves until after the World Series. That always seems to be the unwritten rule in MLB.
  21. 6th inning shoesvour bullpen failure. A HBP and three walks for a Twins run
  22. I will predict the offense tries to comeback but Sale getting knocked around seems to be a fitting end to the season
