  1. Our DH today grounded out witht eh bases loaded and we lost 2-1. Maybe Manny can help, but I would like to see a full-time DH next year too
  2. Threets seemed to have turned the corner after an injury plagued career, but this is aterribler setback for the guy. He wants to try a comeback, which you know is the mind and heart of any bal player, but we won't see anything from Eric for 12 to 18 months most likely. It's sad for im and the Sox. Now we have a real beat up bullpen and are 4 1/2 out
  3. I hope Floyd can show us and the Yankmees his best stuff today
  4. I believe I said in an earlier post that Freddie would win this game
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 03:03 AM) He's terrible. Giving up bombs to Gregor Blanco, walk-off singles to Kendall, etc. He's completely unreliable. I tend to agree with fathom on this. A good pitcher-getting squeezed or not-comes back and puts them away. It seems we have relievers trying to mess up well pitched games by the starters b giving up that long ball in the 9th
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) They should chant Manny when Guillen comes out of the dugout to replace the pitcher. Why?
  7. We may see manny and then again we may not, but if we do I am guiessing it will also be for 2011. Regardless of the PEDS we have to forgive him if KW does. Long live Frank Thomas though
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) By what measure? The guy has a 5.08 ERA, and of his 23 starts, only 15 are "quality". He's also had 6 starts where he couldn't finish more than 5 innings. He's fine as a #5 starter, but the other 4 guys we have right now have all clearly been better. He has ten wins and has often gone 6 or 7 good innings for us. The ERA jumps when he or any pitcher has a bad game or two and gives up a lot of runs in just a couple innings. That has not happened to Freddie on any consistent basis so overall he has done a commendable job.
  9. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) From the rumblings I heard, the Sox never confirmed they claimed him, but apparently the Brewers wouldn't deal him...I wonder if Hoffman nixed it if he has a NTC. Supposedly blocked - I am assuming another team put in a claim
  10. Hope the game tonite is carried by MLB Network in my area. I am afraid it won't though and I'll have to watch the scores scroll across the bottom on the TV
  11. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 08:19 AM) Problem is we got sweaty Freddie going in game 1 and that makes me nervous, hopefully he can pitch like he did against the Royals- we really need him here with the lack of a pen right now Freddie has done a good a job as any starter we have so IMO it's time to quit being nervous
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) bobby abreu He would be a good option if Manny doesn't come our way, but we have to work quickly on one of the other
  13. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) A wrench in the plans? From Rotoworld: I don't see the Dodgers jumping over four teams for the WC, but it is true that those top three teams (Cards, Phils, Giants) have struggled and I was surprised to see the Dodgers only 5 back (and the Rockies only 4 back). I agree that I don't see the Dodgers jumping over three teams, but hope always springs eternal in LA LA land
  14. Threets and Sale have done pretty good jobs as left relievers. We could do worse. Hopefully they can keep up the good work
  15. We will win this game tonite maybe I think possibly could be
  16. I am boarding a plane right now I wish
  17. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) They sign Frank Thomas to play on Sunday and he goes 4-for-4 with 4 bombs and carries Teahan around on his shoulder for nostalgia purposes. Luv ya man!
  18. I am not certain how MLB Network will be for Friday. It looks like maybe Atlanta-Florida is the main game and the Sox are the back up. But, one can hope MLB sees the light and changes it to Chicago on Friday
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Whatever they are doing now is working. I'd leave it alone. The kid sounds like he has some Konerko in him, where he rides himself pretty hard for mistakes and slumps, so leaving him be might not be a bad idea for now. You got it
  20. Manny won't be here in time for this series probably
  21. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) .295/.335/.473/.808 in his last 258 abs with 18 2bs, 2 3bs, 8 HRs...even with his horrible April and May, his 162 game avg is .263/.332/.424/.756 with 38 2b, 2 3b, 17 HR...he even somehow is 162-averaging 82 RBI despite living in the 9 hole for most of this year... Is it finally safe to say this kid is a fixture/starter for the next 4+ seasons at the ML level for our Sox, barring injury? I thought everyone wanted him sent down to the minors earlier? It's great what patience can bring isn't it
