  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) That young whipper snapper Beckham is trying to cause problems again
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 12:46 AM) Brandon Webb has season ending shoulder surgery That's what we need two ace starters on the DL
  3. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 04:34 PM) I will be there tonight with my Cub fan friends...we will see how that goes. If you have to throw them under the bus
  4. I heard he had looked good in one rehab start and my guess he is ready before Bart Colon is back
  5. QUOTE (Beckam4thehall @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 07:13 AM) Ok, This kid is amazing. 17 doubles at the end of this recent Yankee four home game series. I love him in the second hole and I think he'll be getting into the Hall of Fame. And I know people are saying its his first year he won't be good in the future. Well, If he can have this order that we're in with Nix and Getz at the bottom of the order than Pods. We can win a lot of games. And hell I say who gives a f*ck about Ramirez. I mean Getz can hit a double. Nix can move him over or in. Scotty can Move him over with a bunt or so. And Beckham can bring him over as well. And those three old guys in the middle of are line up can get a couple runs there. We can be a good team if we can do it. Gordon Beckham you rascal you why didn't you tell us you were posting on Soxtalk!?
  6. I think where we might have the edge on the Angels is our pitching plus our guys are playing good as a team also
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 04:56 PM) Chris Getz is exactly the kind of player the Twins have killed us with for years. Everyone always complained about it and people kept wishing we'd get some players to play the game like that. Chris Getz is that player. He will probably get better, though never be a star. He does things the right way and can do the little things. He also adds some much needed speed to the roster. Now, though, despite having a repsectable rookie season, there are people complaining about him. I just don't get it. I don't get it either. I have said it many times before and I'll keep saying it---we just don't value our own enough. Getz is exactly the type of player we need to mix in with the power guys. We are really getting a good balance in that offensive group.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) And no one is arguing with the current state of affairs. Only what the potential of the club would be were it to acquire a sound option at third base. I hear Joe Crede might be available next year
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) He's making it fairly obvious that the organization sees Dan Hudson has the top pitching prospect in the organization and did even when Poreda was around. Hudson was a near untouchable at the deadline. Hahn is a great interview, very honest and really says the kind of things you like to hear from the front office. The hype means he will be traded within two years
  10. From the Sun-Times today (GETZ) Getz on the go Guillen often has said how impressed he was with rookie Chris Getz from the first time he saw him. After a rocky start to the season, Getz is showing the qualities Guillen saw and ranks with Gordon Beckham among the contenders for American League rookie of the year honors. ''I love the way he plays the game,'' Guillen said. ''I love the way he goes about his business. The way we're playing right now is because the kids at the bottom of the order [Getz and Jayson Nix] are playing real well. ''The way [Getz] runs the bases, he can make a lot of things happen.'' Getz is 17-for-18 in steal attempts, including two thefts of home. He also is hitting .271 with two home runs, 26 RBI and the team lead in steals.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 03:40 AM) Very true. Why does everybody love Getz so much? People started loving him last year when he got like 2 hits in 7 ABs. I like Getz, but he's been a below average offensive player this year playing mediocre defense. There's a lot to like about him (his speed, his peskiness), but he's not a good candidate for ROY. We must not be watching the same Getz play ball. Plus what I said was he should command some atention. Beckham right now is the guy in my book. But, it is really good to see two Sox rookies making the grade at the bigs with our team
  12. Moving Alexei down for more RBI chances is a good move. Beckham makes better contact which is what you need in the #2 spot
  13. Mark Buerhle failed to show up today. We had chances and the offesne couldn't deliver the clutch hits we have been seeing. Biggest question I have is "what is Ramon Castro doing?"
  14. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) Jake Peavy is throwing from the mound in the bullpen right now in front of Coop. . GREAT NEWS!!! Maybe he will be back earlier than the end of the month. Coop I hear works miracles
  15. WGN. This has been a great week for me being able to watch this entire 4 game series on TV and the Sox winning. I'll be behind the big screen today watching WGN. I hope Buerhle is perfect again and Sox rip CC Moneybags Sabathia. But, I'll settle for a win
  16. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 12:37 AM) you are correct ---- we'll let that one go ------ Tim McCarver was impressed with Kotsday taking to the rookie about what happened
  17. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 12:39 AM) For Becks to hit 40-50 HR he'd have to roid the f*** up... I like clean baseball, and his build indicates he should probably be a 25-30 HR guy... I'd be thrilled with that if he hits a bunch of doubles. I'd just a soon see him hit 40-50 doubles a year and maybe 15-20 HR's
  18. QUOTE (Allsox @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 12:45 AM) Considering the fact Jeter's got 4 rings, gets paid 18 million and his team is down 10 runs, I appreciate as a baseball fan the guy busting his ass to try and spark something for his team. Derek Jeter is a quality ball player for sure. I liked that fact he was taking time to to visit with his #1 fan-Gordon Beckham- and gave him an appreciative pat on the arm. The kid looked like he was star struck when standing next to Jeter. Great moment.
  19. Nunez might even pitch tomorrow, but before that hopefully Mark Buerhle has a qualkity 7 or 8 innings and that Sox are up 15-0
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) I will be at the game cheering on Big C.R. Go Sox. You mean Carrasco? I'll be watching on WGN
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 11:08 PM) Also, I know the "Cooper can fix 'em" joke gets old, but Cooper is a really good pitching coach. I'm sure he and Peavy will talk about ways to decrease his flyballs, etc... You don't mess much with the mechanics of a Cy Young winner
  22. We didn't get anything for Swisher as it turns out
