  1. Bit shocked with the trade and the demotion/release of Corky. I wonder what's the chances of Miller clearing waivers and accepting a demotion to Charlotte? I don't know much about Whistler but he's a lefty and my guess is he replaces Gobble when Jose is back and Gobble goes down to the AAA. I liked Corky, but Castro appears to be better with the bat and defensively. Now Lance? I liked the guy, but I guess he wasn't going to make it on our staff and Clayton Richard has stepped up for sure.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 29, 2009 -> 04:25 AM) Someone reads SoxTalk. That's right! This site broke that story a week ago.
  3. Probably listen tonight on XM radio. Hopefully Saturday night on WGN. I am looking forward to seeing Buerhle pitch Saturday. Sunday they have Grienke going and we need to get to him early I think, but we can do it. Sweep this series and we are on top.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) So who knows anything about the Dominican justice system? I don't think that even the Dominican's or any Latin American citizen can figure out the legal sytems in some of those countries. I lived in Central America for over six yers and believe me it is a real strange system
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:08 PM) I'd guess they feel like they have a little more time with Allen. If they think they need Beckham at 3b this year they could have him there soon, Allen is still blocked until at least next April barring injury. We have Konerko at 1B. No need to rush someone or make an unneeded change at the minor league level. Brandon Allen might be 2 years away?
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) They should have just brought him all the way up. I think they are trying to give Fields every opportunity to make it as our 3Bman and not rush Beckham. The only bad thing about it is I am not sure that Fields is going to make it and how long e can go with the poor hitting and subpar D.
  7. QUOTE (WinningUgly85 @ May 28, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) I think I know why I hate posting on here whenever anyone makes a post everyone is quick to bash the poster or ridicule the post. Again sorry to not have made this post in a rumor thread or sorry I spelled Clayton RICHARD wrong. Get a life people. ITs not that bad. I think, or at least would hope, it's all in good fun and is done with the utmost respect, and should be taken as such. But I agree some can go overboard with the criticism and personally I can do without the potty mouth stuff. Doesn't do anything for me when reading the posts and other comments.
  8. We need to win every game to be in the hunt. Trade these guys now Hey we did ok, but what the heck is it with these Weaver guys? We never seem to be able to beat them
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:25 AM) Can we just list every starter and keep it in one thread? Who's going to start the Cliff Lee thread? Yes! and I am sure we will
  10. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ May 28, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) The Pirates have traded minor league infielder Anderson Machado to the Chicago White Sox for a player to be named later. Do we know much about this fellow. I will be doing a search for info, but what does anyone else know? Maybe we got a trde similar to the onbe that brought Ozzie Guillen from San Diego for Lamar Hoyt
  11. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ May 27, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) I don't know if it is official, but after watching Nix and Ramirez play defense last night and with their hitting coming around, Fields might be the weakest link. Third base may be the best place to get Beckham's bat in the lineup. I agree. Josh was never a defensive genius that's for certain. Only problem is Nix might be a infield supersub and to say his bat is coming aroubnd after one good game-yes 2 homers but still only one good game-might be jumping to conclussions
  12. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 27, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) well, the first part of his quote was "I also predict Fields/Poreda will be used as a centerpiece to a deal to land a top of the rotation pitcher", so I guess it has everything to with with anything. That's all folks
  13. Looking at the box score and seeing highlights only makes one think about that bullpen. The two relievers (Thornton and Linebrink) allowed as many baserunners in just two innings that Colon did in 6.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) Can no one see the sarcasm in the TCQ/Wise thing. It was meant to be absurd people. Geesh. Folks need to stop taking life so seriously.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:52 AM) They can call up Lillibridge to take his place. Don't play with us
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 27, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) Cabrera's velocity in Washington has been way down and that was one of the big reasons he had such upside. Without that velocity and with his command, he's flat out atrocious. I was a big backer of trying to get Cabrera at the right price and seeing if a change of scenery would work, but I wouldn't bend over backwards to get him. That said, I wouldn't mind the signing as long as it was as a minor leaguer knowing he has a shot, but he'd have to pitch his way to the majors. I wouldn't want him signed to be on our 25 man roster currently. Do we need another starter at this point on the 25 man roster? I don't think so, but as you stated above someone for the AAA club and hopefully work throuhg any problems he has would be worth a shot. Clayton Richard and/or Jose C would be my choices at this point.
  17. Nice recovery from a previous bad game by Bart Colon. Nix with two homers was nice to see also
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:38 AM) Nothing, IMO. But the concensus seems to be that because he does this weird thing at the plate (he's actually running up through the batter's box towards the pitch, like he's a 16" softball player or something), which is considered bush league, he deserves to get nailed. I don't think anything deserves a head shot, though I could see a pitcher putting one in his hip. Compare that wierd step motion with how Ichiro bats. He kind of gets that run at it too. Pods is doing pretty good I think.
  19. QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 26, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) Yeah, I heard Hawk saying that he'll end up with a ball between the eyes or in the ear, dag gummit. But at least he will be on base for sure. I saw the game on TV last night and Pods was tuned in for sure and looked really good with that bat crow hopping or not
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 26, 2009 -> 04:07 AM) Hawk said that KW told them it's not as bad as it looks and he's day-to-day, so it sounds like worse is a 15 day DL stint, but sounds like no rupture or tear of anything... if it's a week thing, they should go send Gobble or Broadway down and tell the one that stays up that they might just have to eat it in an outing or two. Don't you think if it's a week or so then it's the 15 day DL?
  21. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 25, 2009 -> 04:25 PM) I see this game is feautured on MLB tv channel. I wil be able to watch the Sox beat the Angels And I did big time
  22. QUOTE (WCSox @ May 26, 2009 -> 01:21 AM) Hawk and Stoney calling the game, to boot. That was a very pleasant surprise when I tuned in. Plus 17-3 victory was kind of nice too
  23. Now that was a White Sox winnah! Such a great offensive display
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2009 -> 08:25 PM) Vlad's back for this series. Easy Out
