QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 21, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) was that on national radio or on the website? I just saw it on ESPN Sportscenter. They satrted their program out with the "developing story" and interviewed Tim and talked about Jerry Crasnick's take on things. Supposedly Crasnick had just talked with Jake P's agent

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 21, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) Levine has said the Cubs have "not a dime" in flexability until the deal is signed, sealed and delivered, so if Peavy is expecting the Cubs to make it happen, it can't for a little. DeRosa is going to get moved Cubs didn't want to take on the entire contract and also give SD 4 young players and I don't see them reported to be back in any trade. ESPN also doesn't see it happening or that the Dodgers are all of sudden going to give SD prospects and take on Peavey's contract
-
ESPN Tim Kurkian (sp?) says he thinks this trade will happen and someone else says it won't happen and someone else says maybe. I am all confused
-
I love it when everyone analyzes and looking at some of these posts and all the othr trade speculation when it started out as Jake Peavy. Wow! That's al I can say. Maybe we should calm down here and think one thing through at a time. Peavy doesn't like Ozzie Guillen for some reason so that is going to be the possible hang up on this deal. We are giving up a lot of talent, but can get one of the best so I think it might be worth it. Maybe to entice Jake to come to the Southside we can Ozzie though?

Levine: Sox Could Reconsider Beckham Timetable

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:15 AM) Has no one noticed that Beckham just came back from an injury and is mired in the first slump we've seen from him? I did and it seems Danks and Beckham are coming back to reality with the bats and Vicideo might be picking it up a bit -
Levine: Sox Could Reconsider Beckham Timetable

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) Beckham isn't quite ready yet. He has the maturity to handle the ups and downs but right now it would be a real short sighted move to call him up and I don't believe this is anything more than Levine speculating. I do think that if the club struggles and Gbeck hits well for half a season in AA, you will see the Sox bring him up, potentially shifting Ramirez to CF. Maybe we will be looking at changes even if some minor league players aren't deemed ready yet? Jordan Danks may be ready defensively and gets a dose of the bigs ready with the bat or not; Vicideo at 3B or Beckham at 2B or 3B. Could be interesting, but hopefully our present players start producing and we don't have to think about or see these possibilities. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:04 AM) Fields sucked last year. Crede helped the Sox win some games. Fields is at a crossroads IMO. He has to pick it up. I really think his White Sox career for all intents and purposes is OVA if he gets sent down again, unless its a real short trip. I know Jerry Owens came back from the dead this year for one last fling, but there were extenuating circumstances. I am going to have to agree with most, but not all here from Dick. I don't remember that Crede got cut much slack concerning his back injury so why are we making excuses for Fields and his knee. Bottom line is he has one half or 2/3rds of a good season in 2007 HR wise, but his defense has not been real good and possibly he is showing that HR's is all he is trying to hit rather than take a good approach to the plate since he was touted for his 23 dingers. If in fact his knee is the problem he needs to come forward and tell Ozzie and then do what the team says to do. Sad fact is it doesn't appear Vicedo is ready to take over, or we have other options.

QUOTE (Cali @ May 20, 2009 -> 04:37 AM) Thing thing about Viciedo, which I keep forgetting, is that the Sox didn't draft him, He's only under their control for 4 years, you damn well better believe with Kenny's ego he's gonna want to get the majority of those 4 years in Chicago if at all possible.... He wants a return on his investment... Not only ego, but moneywise as well. They are paying him some big bucks to play at AA and how long is that going to happen?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2009 -> 03:57 AM) Fields, welcome to the bench for at least 2-3 games. You either will see a Nix/Betemit platoon or Nix alone if Ozzie chooses to go for defense first. Betemit does deserve a chance to hit against some RHP this year and show what he can do. Logically, Nix or Alexei (to see even more fastballs, he can take the ball to RF and bunt as well) should be in the 2 hole. Is Nix a good fielder at 3B? I don't know. Obviously Betemit is not a glove man, but is he any worse than Fields?

QUOTE (tommy @ May 20, 2009 -> 01:10 AM) Brian with another ball hit to Crede ends the inning. Has Fields caught any like that lately? I think his defense is suffering also -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:55 AM) The number 1 and 2 guys in a line-up need to get he job done there. In what world is Josh Fields a number 2 hitter? At least Pods gave it a battle with a number of fouls, but you are right. Those at bats are why we have been slumping. Runners in scoring position and our guys K every time -

QUOTE (tommy @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:41 AM) Ball was smoked but right to Crede, 1 out. Time for Getz to get out of the slump. He didn't try and do too much and took the walk. That's good -

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 19, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) I just heard, I believe it was peter gamons, i was just waking up and didnt have my glasses on but whomever it was said the mets are going to be looking for a first basemen now that delgado is out...what about pk to the mets, start the youth movement and throw branden allen out there? I already mentioned this possibility in a previous post. I think the Mets have some minor leagure phenom they are really high on and if Delgado is out they may rush the guy rathe than make a trade, but anything is possible

Britt Burns pitched a heck of a game. He went into the 10th before losing it. I have the game set to record on DVR so I'll watch it this weekend. I remember the announcer saying-when they took out Britt in the 10th- "hold your head up son you did a terrific job."

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) Braves fans were correct, the kid is garbage. His swing and approach need to be made over 100% for him to succeed in baseball. Methinks it never happens. But, hold on a second now. Our GM and manager were gushing about this return we got from the Braves. Flowers was the catcher of the future and they really loved this Lillibridge. Maybe if he concentrates on cutting back his swing and playing to his strength, which would be his speed maybe he will be a good ledoff or #2 hitter someday? I ain't saying-I'm just saying...

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 19, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) if the offense fails to show up again, things could get ugly tonight with the fans booing the s*** out of the players... but we seem to play well when Buehrle's in the bump, so there's hope. Last time the offense didn't show up nor has it for a number of games. But, I want to be positive. If Buerhle is on tonight even a couple runs will be enough. Go MB! -
It's good to see Brian back and if we can get some folks healthy maybe it will help the team start winning

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 19, 2009 -> 12:18 AM) You expected Josh Fields to be hitting .224 with 2 homers at this point? Fields has had 125 AB this year, after 125 AB last year Alexei was hitting .293 with 4 homers. I don't know what he did today, but coming into today's game Fields was hitting .109 when he fell behind in the count 0-1. With all the hype and the reminder of his 23 himers in 2007 I expected Babe Ruth like numbers and knew it wasn't going to happen

If we don't turn things around Jenks may be a player to be moved for sure. But, I think it might be a bit early yet to even consider possibilities
