  1. It's interesting to note that many of the trades made have helped us for maybe one season and then they flop. We got lucky in 2005 when they came together. If you have starst on the club like Crede, Buerhle and Dye then you try and keep them and build around them and not treade for unknowns or playhers who have struggled somewhere else and then expect a miracle turnaround. Plus a few games or a few weeks is not the way to gauge success. We got real excited on this board when Massett pitched a so so start and called for him to be palced in the rotation. Things went south pretty quick though. I remember KW and Ozzie saying that ther bigs were not a place to learn the game and we wanted players who would produce. I have to say we haven't seen much from these prospects we picked up, but we have a lot of young players and clerly they aren't ready. I still thank them for 2005 though.
  2. We need to keep Joe Crede and move Fields to LF. But, I have been less than impressed with player decisons over the last couple years and see little chance of the Sox making the right decisions with our pending free agents
  3. I'll see you all on WGN-TV today. We win 1-0 or lose that way I predict
  4. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) I rather see him on the Yanks simply because Red Sox fans piss me off. He'll go to the Bosox simply becasue they have what KW wants and will probably pay it. We could keep Buerhle I think, but I would be intersted to know just what Marks agent thinks he is worth. He probably wants Zito type money and if someone paid that again (but you know they will) after Zito's performance this year they are crazy. If MB would take 12 or 13 million than I say we should sign him for 5 years.
  5. Lots of rumors and speculation. Dye still has a lot of value and a trade for him might not happen till July or August. Sox probably want to make sure he is healthy and can showcase him a little more to a team needing offense. Buerhle seems to be out of the picture as far as the Sox signing him is concerned and it appears that the only thing holding back a trade is simply weighing the best options. I am sure there will be more. I always cringe though when I hear the fact KW wants minor league talent. I haven't seen many of these minor league talent trades pan out for us.
  6. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) Welcome to White Sox anonymous. I feel your pain. In fact, I think we all do. That'l be $135 an hour in 1 minute increments. Have a nice day you whackos!
  7. Quoting some posters: Each loss deserves it's own thread; I have given up on the season; every day is the same ole stuff; relief corp can't stop the opponents This is just unbelievable. I don't think I have ever felt this bad about a Sox team. This team was, and I think still is, made up of championship caliber players. You can beat yourself to death trying to figure out what went wrong. Is it really the fault of one area? It can't be. We get no offense so there is no room for error by pitchers. We get no pitching even when we finally score a couple runs. The bullpen is just horrendous and we can't close out or stay in close games. Our starters and relievers give up too many homers. Rallies fade quick with K's, popups and GIDP's. It is almost laughable how the fortunes of this team have gone into such a deep pit and keep sliding down.
  8. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 07:25 PM) Our best hitter will get it done. I luv how positive you are
  9. That call from Hawk is almost as bad as the one he made during Soriano's lead off homer yesterday. Really more sad than bad
  10. Our bullpen can't do its job once again and again and again
  11. Pitching is still the name of the game. We had a super staff in 2005, but you can see how the front office mentality still is set on no long term contracts and no real big payouts and the staff will be dismantled. Buerhle needs to stay and five yeasr is not that big a risk for the team to take. They need to consider just who is going to step up from the minors to take his place?
  12. Jerry has a lot of speed, but speed on the base paths is only good if you get on base first. He needs more seasoning for sure.
  13. Pods and Erstad will help this team because they can get on base and steal the next one. Anything they do will help this offense plus they were the original parts of the team and with your origianl team back together again it can only help.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) All they have to do is play .700 baseball the rest of the way and we'll be watching White Sox October baseball! Seriously though, .700 baseball. We can do it if we start winning some games QUOTE(sf_soxfan @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) I like it...also: please swap Owens/Sweeney No more minor league phenoms. We don't have much luck going there
  15. I am not going to make any proposals other than we need a relief corp. Nothing goes right does it? Ozzie brings in Jenks in the 9th , as some have criitcized him for not doing before when others failed, and Jenks blows it too. The whole thing blows.
  16. That was a great ining by Danks. I bet it did wonders for his cofidence. Hope it keeps building.
  17. QUOTE(chisox72 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:44 AM) Its a very incorrect prediction... Crede, for all practical purposes, has seen his last days in a Sox uniform. Is that you Kenny? No, really I unerstand exactly where you are coming from and I am sure Joe wishes now he had surgery during the off season, but back surgery for a young man is nothing to take lightly. The Sox have given up on a number of folks eligible for free agency and would have a power team right now if we had kept a couple. The pieces of the puzzle we need to be putting in place includes someone of the caliber of Joe Crede. Plus he is a home grown talent just like Carlos Lee was, and I am not pleased with the Sox decisions in the area of our potential FA's. We should be rewarding our talent and keeping them
  18. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:43 AM) That's a bold prediction. Think big and bold. Of course I could be wrong too
  19. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:41 AM) i'll still take Danks over Danny Wright any day. remember how sucky our starting pitching used to be? we went full seasons without a #5. Yes, I do. Wright had a future, but got hurt. He struggled a lot too.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:37 AM) Danks fastball is too straight and too slow not to incorporate his changeup and curveball more. It seems he resorts to it frequently because his control if off with the secondary pitches. I have to agree. You and I are not criticizing Danks here are we? I am just making an observation and think he needs to grow more as a pitcher. He also needs to challenge them more QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:37 AM) maybe KW was spot on hyping up Fields...he is twice the player Crede is. Not so fast there. Right now he is twice the player cause Joe is injured and not playing. I think Crede is our thirdbaseman and Fields the LF'er of the future
  21. Gameday is stuck on Konerkos at bat. If Field just hit a slam I am very happy. he is my PTC tonite
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:35 AM) I'm scared to think what you think about Willis..... He gives up too many homers (Marlins fan comment there)
  23. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:32 AM) Cleveland gave up 3 in the first tonight as did the Mets. Others do too. All I am saying is that we can't afford to keep playing from behind all the time
  24. Another thing about Danks is that he seems to give up a lot of homers. There are times that he looks real good and I guess with a rookie some struggles are expected, but he gives up a lot of homers as does some of our other hurlers.
  25. I don't think you win many games or show you are meant to stay in the bigs by giving up 3 runs in the first. But, that's just me
