  1. I'd rather get some quality relief pitching if we traded Dye or anyone else. But, I really don't want to see J D go anywhere
  2. Dusty Baker should be the Sox manager. I am so excited to hear him say that about this offense I can hardly hold it inside. Well, Dusty Baker aside, we do have great offensive potential. If they ever get there do-do in a group we will be winning again.
  3. Dusty can armchair from ESPN and that's all I want to see. The problem is underachieving players and not management
  4. Close out this thread on There's always tomorrow!
  5. Well now, let me say this about that... After Saturday's game maybe the turnaround will be Sunday.
  6. It's the bullpen followed closely by underachieving hitters, who are LAST in the league in team batting and nearly every offensive category. That is one I can't believe. I had a bad feeling about the bullpen coming into the season, but not our offense.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) Blown saves is a worthless stat. This will be game #10 in which we've lost after leading in the 6th inning or later. I believe this was supposed to be the bullpen designed to win those 10 games after the 6th right? What a joke
  8. Am I right that this pen just gave up 8 runs to Toronto?
  9. I have been listening onXM radio and can't stand this debacle any longer. This bullpen is full of little league pitchers. We better start seing some new blood brought in here
  10. First game was a a great way to start. If the rookie can do it maybe it will jump start our vets too
  11. I liked Scott Fletcher a lot, and that there Milkman Herbert Perry. I always loved that call, "and the Milkman delivers."
  12. The Giants need bullpen help and the Sox have picthers. Tjhere were probbaly Giant scouts at 14 other games too.
  13. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 02:52 AM) that the season is over? The end is not near-the season is not over. There is a lot of baseball to be played.
  14. The so called controversy with A-Rod is nothing more than some disgruntled losing team and sour grapes. A-Rod played hard and didn;'t do anything wrong. There isn't going to be any trade of A-Rod over this flap. That would be just like us trding AJ becasue of the twinkies flap.
  15. QUOTE(StatManDu @ May 31, 2007 -> 07:23 AM) THIS DATE IN SOX HISTORY MAY 31ST/22 RUNS! For the rest of the day see ... WWW.WHITESOXALMANAC.COM 1970: The White Sox had their best offensive game in 15 years and their second best overall in hammering the Boston Red Sox 22-13 at Fenway Park. The 22 runs were the most by a Sox team since they scored a club record 29 in a win at Kansas City April 23, 1955. The 35 runs by both teams tied the club mark set on Sept. 9, 1921 and April 23, 1955. The Sox banged out 24 hits but their only home run came from Bill Melton, who hit a solo shot in the sixth. Melton finished with four RBIs. Leadoff man Walt Williams went 5-for-7 with five runs, a double and two RBIs while Luis Aparicio was 5-for-5 with three runs, a triple and three RBIs. Duane Josephson was 3-for-6 with two doubles and three RBIs and Ossie Blanco, who started at first base and batted third, was 2-for-5 with three RBIs. The Sox scored six in the first off Boston starter Gary Peters, who lasted just two-thirds of an inning. The Sox scored one in the third, three in the fourth, one in the fifth, seven in the sixth and four in the eighth Are these guys available right now to play I was in the Army when this happened. Actually there were a number of White Sox games broadcast by Armed Forces Radio. I thought it was kind of bitter sweet considering Gary Peters was a White Sox star for a number of years.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ May 31, 2007 -> 07:54 PM) And for the argument that he wouldn't be available tonight: I think avoiding the sweep against your main AL Central rival is more important than a possible save opportunity in the first game of a 4 game series against Toronto. That's why you have more than one relief pitcher in the pen. I do remember Ozzie saying that Jenks was his man, but he wouldn't be afraid to use someone else in a closing situation if needed.
  17. Ozzie is trying to jump start the team. He is fiery person and very macho and as a result talks the talk.
  18. Nellie Fox and here are some quotes about him: [edit] Quotation Fox is what you'd call a manager's ballplayer. He does his job expertly and he does it every day. He's the type of player you can count on. He's an old pro. A great many times, he is hurting pretty badly from the dumpings he's taken on the field, but he's always ready to play. - Hall of Fame manager Al Lopez. Nellie was the toughest out for me. In 12 years I struck him out once, and I think the umpire blew the call. - New York Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Whitey Ford I was a Nellie Fox fan from my first interest in baseball in 1959. My first glove for little league was a Nelson Fox model.
  19. The problem is players not performing to expectations or ability. It can still be turned around, but this series against the Twins is hard to swallow. But, it started with that last game versus Tampa.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) 9 games LOST when leading in the 6th inning or later. That is an indictment of a bullpen that is a failure. McDougal was said to be hurt-put him on the DL. Aardsma isn't doing the job and he should be sent to AAA like Sisco. Logan is up in the air (50/50) as far as I am concerned. Thornston is doing the job. Jenks didn't pitch at all versus the Twinkies. I think he should have been in there today in the 9th. We need some guys stepping up in the bullpen and it ain't happening, but also look at our starters the last few games. The pitching has not done the job.
  21. The game between the Yankmes and Mr Clemens and the Sox will be televised on ESPN. At least we get to see the Sox in HD outside of Chitown
  22. The thing that we seem to be missing here is the fact we still have 110 games left and are only 5 games out. There is no reason to panic or simply give up. There is not one player on this team that you can point to and say it's their fault we aren't in first place. Please stop the finger pointing at people like Crede, Podsednik, UJribe, Dye, etc, etc. They are all failing to perform including Konerko and Thome and many, if not all the others. What they need is a good kick in the pants from themselves and this thing will turn around. We don't need to be firing people or trading everyone away. What we need is some intensity.
  23. Danks is crappy tonight and no offesne against the Boofmeister
