Politte Expects to Be Activated on June 20th
elrockinMT replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Politte back and Montero down -
I think AJ probbaly figures this is just part of the game of baseball. Why he was being thrown at is a question though. The Sox aren't intimidated and you don't see them crying about it like so many other teams do meaning the Rangers. The best way to show them your utter disdain is beat their butts on the field of play and win the game.

He does have a tendency to suck with the glove doesn't he?
-
Temper tantrum blankety blank ###**!!! I wanted you to hit the f----- That's how Ozzie talks and acts and dressing down the kid doesn't help anything. But, maybe it's alesson lerned for Tracey. Ozzie will just tell us to f ourselves for not agreeing with his actions
-
Maybe Cooper can save him? (GREEEEENNNN)

Roberto Hernandez won't cost us a #1 minor league prospect, or at least he shouldn't. You are looking at aset up man in Hernandez as Jenks is the closer. But, we may be looking at our own farm hands anyway.

The schedule evens out after 162 games. Any team that can't beat the tough ones and handle a rough schedule doesn't belong on top. I think the Sox can handle it.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) he now has thirteen arm angles. Next he will throw beetween his legs. I thought he had twenty! Baseball Tonight was talking about it after the Monday game and they can't believe he doesn't lose command of his pitches or velocity. He is an amazing picther and they are touting him as the Cy Young favorite this year. I think Sox fans already knew that though.

Freddie Garcia has not been difficult in the Sox clubhouse that I have heard anyway, and probably wouldn't be with Ozzie as the manager. I don't read things from Garcia interviews where he refuses to take responsibility for pitching a bad game. The problem in my opinion is he pitches too many poor games, but them so does Garland and Vazquez. Too much nibbling and not enough challenging the hitters and putting them away quick. The only question I would have for Pablo Ozuna is HOW FAST IS YOUR HEATER, DUDE?! Buerhle has given up too many hits and walks; Garcia doesn't seem to be able to get out of a game without giving up 4 or 5 runs; Garland has given up more homers than any other starter in the AL and maybe the NL too; Vazquez throws too many pitches and is lucky to last past the 6th; Contreras is the most dependable and has been since late last year. He is our ace as far as I am concerned. The starters need to trust their stuff and quit nibbling around the corners so much. They get two strikes on someone and can't put them away. We have more starting pitching than last year, but the consistency isn't there yet. I hope we can get this problem rectified soon. If we find ourselves in a position needing to trade I would say good bye to Garcia right now. We need another relief pitcher and we can put McCarthy in the starting staff.

You just don't throw a SS or 3B platoon man out in CF and expect him to suceed. Ozuna is not good in LF and would probably be worse in CF. He is a good platoon man for the IF though.

Pablo Ozuna has made me change my mind about his effectiveness. He still isn't the gretaest defender, but sure provides a spark when out there. Now Timo Perez on the other hand ...

QUOTE(credeisamazing @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) ok, so yesterday my friend told me that aaron rowand is on the trade block for the phillies and that the yanks, bosox, and chisox are looking at him. i think if that's all true, he wouldn't want to go with the yanks or bosox, he would most likely want to come back to the place where he didn't want to leave in the first place. has anyone else heard anything about this?? i think it would pretty much be amazing because we'll have someone just as good as anderson in the field, and someone who could hit at the plate. You have to question this rumor. I don't see the Phillies trading him, but that isn't to say the Sox wouldn't want him back if they were trying. The question is what do they want?

Anderson's game saving catch last night...

You got to love that great defense. If you ain't hittin you had better play great defense and BA is doing that. It's correct to say that great defense is just like a great hitter as far as comparisons are concerned when you look at winning games. However, the box score just shows hitting and bad defense (errors). I am surprised they don't track the great plays that prevent runs from scoring. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Aboz made better posts in '05. I liked the '05 Aboz better.

We have a situation in CF where we have a great defense -no hit guy and one who can hit but is a poor cf'er. The bullpen does great one game and sucks the next. The starting pitching can be over powering as we have seen for a good stretch of games earlier this year, but they are now struggling. They give up way to many homers and walks. The teams as a whole has played some shaky defense at times. But, it's early June and we are 1/2 game out. Sometimes, for wahtever reasons, it takes time for things to gel. I think we will be in the WS.

He needs to pitch better and win games. That's what the big leagues are all about and what he is getting paid to do. I still have faith in Jon Garland and his ability to be a winner, but I want to see it happen now.
-
Errors are part of the game, like DP's, caught stealing, etc.. I always hate it when that happens. Crede is agold glove fielders, but even Willie Mays and others made errors.
-
The "defense" measn more than just catching the ball. It's making throws to the cutoff man, playing heads up team ball to direct where throws should be made, it's being aggressive, etc, and I think the Sox have been playing some sloppy "D" lately. It cost us that game last night. You can't allow the other team more than three outs an inning, or let them run on you, take the extra base, etc.

Detroit has a good solid team. Cleveland could always come back, as well as the Twinkies, and make a run at us, but Detroit sure looks like the real thing right now.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) Perhaps we can get Cliff a video of Tracey pitching for when he returns. Don't get too down on Cliff Politte. I suspected arm problems and he is now on the D/L albeit a bit late for shoulder problems. We need Cliff and I hope he gets healthy quick.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) Carl Everett and Robbie Alomar should be available any day. Might be a tad difficult to find Alomar, but bring back Sandy Jr and Robbie is sure to follow. Carl Everett and possibly The Big Hurt might still be available and they can play CF for us. Those four still don't take care of the pitching so Marte could be a possibility. I have heard rumors they all might be coming to the Sox.

I am hoping we can turn things around and seep the Tigers. We play like we have been lately and we could be 6 or 7 out after that series. I kind of see the Tigers/White Sox series as kind of hot and ws thinking maybe we would be on ESPN, but they have the Red Sox/Yankees again. We get to see all 19 games on ESPN I think. Possiblt they should rename themselves the Eastern Sports TV Network

AAA success doesn't seem to translate into ML success when it comes to our prospects. I am not sure who we have at the Charlotte or Birmingham clubs that can get out major league hitters on a regular basis. Of course sometimes I wonder who on the ML roster can get hitters out sometimes.

Kudos to the Ranger's who seem to have a rookie pitcher that knows how to pitch and get people out unlike our team
