Been working around the house and listening to XM satelitte radio. Jst had to take a breeak and let everyone know how FRICKIN PISSED OFF I AM WITH THIS TEAM THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS!!! :headshake
-
It's great to go to the game and have as much fun as you did. Good for you. I might have to try and scan a pic I got last year in Seattle when we made a special trip to see the Sox play the Mariners. I found three crazy dressed up Sox fans outside and got my pic taken with them.

Jon was better last night, but still not good enough. 116 pitches is just way too many for 6 innings of work. Plus he continues to give up the long ball. I listened to Farmer and Singelton and when Jon is effective the pitches are inside or he uses the sinker. His curve hangs and is hammered or he catches way too much of the plate and gets hammered. But then again we had 2 relief pitchers who can't get the first guy out when it matters.

Rumor heard during Phillies-Dodgers game...

QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) Take it for what it's worth, got it off the Philles board. http://www.philaphans.com/forums/showthrea...&threadid=41726 Actually it could be our relief corp plus prospects for Rowand or it could be Freddie Garcia, the bullpen and prospects for Rowand. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) Sorry I started this thread, forgot about Garland having a no trade clause. Seems like the people in Philly don't want him to leave but the fan base is overvaluing Rowand's worth. It's not your fault. Actually I would love to have "Crash" back in a Sox uniform -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 07:24 AM) I love that Pablo's Adventures in the outfield draws a thread not about him being shipped out, but Ross Gload's inevitable departure. We gotta keep this guy around. He's spunky. And I'll tell you what. If there's one thing that wins games. It spunk. Give me 9 guys like Pablo Ozuna. I'll show you a winner. Boy. I have to admit my opinion on Ozuna has changed some. I still think the guy is a pretty poor fielder, but whe he comes into a game he has such enthusiasm and provides a spark. We need that.

Brian Anderson can field, but can't hit his way out of a paper bag. Uribe is getting worse and worse as far as swinging wildly and at everything. He is a good fielder, but when you try and be a hot dog and make a mistake in the field it becomes magnified because you can't hit for do-do. Relief pitching is just plain screwed up. They can't get the first man out, walk too many hitters and give up homers. But, it's early yet so my feeling is we can still get what we have turned around and get back on top. 2 1/2 games out on June 3rd is not the end of the world. But, I think we do need to end the BA experiment in CF and get someone who can field and HIT.
-
I disagree with the story line on this game. "Promising start by Jon Garland." He gave up three homeruns in that game and still won. You can't keep giving up the long ball like Jon does and win regularly. I hope for the best and think Jon can come around, but I don't see the consistency yet.
-
This is indeed very frustrating, but we have recognized this problem since early spring training. I hope Politte and Cotts are just in a funk trying to find that consistency. They have had some real good games and at other times just plain suck. Jenks has been real good for the last month or so. McCarthy is inconsistent and Thornton has a couple great games and then sucks big time is one or two. It's way to early to be in apnaic and we are just 2 1/2 games out, but if the pen was working like last year we would be in the lead by a few games.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) He wasn't a very good CF in Milwaukee, and didn't look very good in CF the couple games he played there last year. Keep him in LF. Granted he doesn't look good at times in LF, but playing the corners is a bit different than roaming CF where his speed can make up for mistakes. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:41 PM) Cleveland announcers just mentioned that Podsednik has told Ozzie he'd move to CF if need be. And I just felt my dinner start to come up. Are we forgetting that Pods played CF in Milwaukee? Give me something more to understand our seemingly unbending certainity that Pods can't play CF. What were his fielding stats in the Beer Town? -

I'll be listening to XM radio pretty soon, but needed to say that this inability to clutch hit the last few games is getting old. Plus our pitchers are giving back the runs our offense scores and doing it right away. Need to get some fire!!! -
Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........
elrockinMT replied to Thunderin'Thome's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I still think that Brian Anderson will do good-just not this year. But, you don't make a 3bman in the minors your starting of'er in the majors overnight. The guy needs some work there first. Who else do we have in AAA that looks good? -
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
elrockinMT replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just about divorcd my wife over this one. I am loving this 2 hit shutout and 11-0 win which included Thome's 2-homers, Konerko and Uribe with one each and some good releif pitching also, and she said it was a boring game. I saw it on WGN and loved it all. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 28, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) Good work to lots of folks, including Garland today. Jon...you had your good and bad today...pay attention to the good, and keep doing it. As I said in an earlier post-Jon Garland is giving up too many homers. Three today. He had a 6-1 lead at one point. I don't know what the problem is, but he won and that's what counts. So good to see McCarthy and Jenks throw 3 scoreless.

ST Poll Question: Should Brian Anderson be sent to Charlotte?
elrockinMT replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Brian Anderson wasn't ready as a hitter for the big leagues last year or this year. He had one big game versus that kid in Seattle last year. Fielding is good, but his bat sucks like a toothpick. -
Ozzie's rant yesterday was what you heard from Leyland about the Tigers earlier this season. Jim Leyland is one of Ozzie's mentors and Ozzie learned from Jim. I hope we see some results, but I am not certain Jon Garland is going to step up today. I hope he does, but he has been way to inconsistent this season and prone to giving up long balls. However, if there was any game we needed to show up and play this is it. We are in danger of being swept and the Tigers are playing like a championship team. We need Jon Garland to show he is a big game pitcher and worth the money and confidence the Sox showed for him. I will be listening on the XM today.
-
Anderson may be a pretty good defensive OF'er, but at this point in his career he is completely overmatched by big league pitching. Do we have any defensive and offensive options for CF? Mack is not a real good of'er, but is swinging a better bat. The guy was brought over as a super sub and not the starting Cf'er. Why do we need another reliever when lack of work was the complaint before? Let's get that Griffey dude!!

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 28, 2006 -> 02:51 AM) It sucks, but when that happens, it's usually not there first post on this board.... How did that person "fly under the radar?"
-
Contreras was great as always, but the game would just make you sick and cry. Trust me.
-
McCarthy, Politte and Cotts have not looked good this year for most of the young season. Nelson has not been what I hoped he would be, but it's early and hopefully these guys will find it soon. I am not happy with the bullpen either, but if you want to start laying blame we could look at Jim Thome's 0-6 effort with 3 K's and say he has peaked already and is on the downhill slide. It happens to the best teams and maybe it's good we get this out of the way now instead of it happening in September.

Thought I would pass on the games I know of for Sox fans that need that National TV to watch our Sox Monday, 29 May (Day Game) on WGN as Sox take on Cleveland Tuesday, 30 May (5:05 PM MDT) ESPN has the Sox and Tribe I have read something about the Sunday, June 11 game being changed from a day game to a night game for ESPN Sunday Night Baseball as the Sox are home vrs the Tribe See you on the television

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 26, 2006 -> 05:52 PM) Maybe more people would rather watch them than listen to them now, what with Singleton and Farmer? Great news. And I love their marketing blitz all over Chicago. It all depends on where you live. I love watching the Sox, but can only do that when they are on WGN or ESPN (The Yankees and Red Sox channel). I bought XM Satelitte to listen as I am out of town 4 days out of 7 (that's a week right?). I would love to buy the MLB extra innings package on cable, but that doesn't do any good for me when I am on the road so much. I know I should make the wife record all the games.
-
Joe Crede is a gold glove solid hitting 3Bman. I just hope the Sox don't mess around with this fellow and his contract extension. You always hear this stuff about letting someone test the market to determine fair value only to have them leave to some team like the Yankees, or other deep pocketed team. You keep your stars and Joe is a star.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 25, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) I don't give a damn about the velocity, Jesus Christ himself couldn't have hit the s*** he was throwing up there last night. Bobby is fine as long as he has CONTROL, that is what matters for him. I beg to differ with you. Jesus COULD have hit those pitches. Jesus Alou couldn't have, but Jesus Christ-yes!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 23, 2006 -> 06:10 AM) He got claimed off waivers by the Cubs, he's pretty much just a bench warmer, in fact he wasn't even on the active list for the Sox series, which is why you didn't see him at all. I didn't go through all the POSTS, but Borchard is with the Marlins now.
