  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) I like Gload because he can play 1B and some LF. Mackowiak and even Ozuna can play the outfield too. But I don't ever want to see Gload in RF again. Ozzie says a lot of things during ST. He is quoted as saying right now Gload is on the team, but he also said he wants more versatility in the OF. Borchard can play all 3 OF positions, pinch hit, run and DH. Gload can play 1B and DH and PH. Six of one and half a dozen of the other. I think it would be great to see both Gload and Borchard on the roster come the end of ST. However, if it's only one I would give the nod to Borchard right now.
  2. Thanks for posting this. It's a great story!
  3. QUOTE(Allsox @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) I won't mind seeing the "Sunday Lineup" of '06....Beats the hell outta the '05 one! I am waiting, and not patiently either, for Sunday, April 2nd, and ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. I'll have the big screen HDTV turned up loud.
  4. I settled last year for road trips from Montana to Denver and Seattle to see the Sox. This year I am planning on taking in a series in Chicago.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) If Ordonez was still in Chicago...we wouldn't have won it. It does say something about what has become of the game as far as loyalty or just the love of it. When is enough money--- enough money? He was offered a lot by the Sox, but when you have an agent they always push for more and more. In the end the fans pay. I was always a Maggs fan, but I am not sorry he wasn't on this pennant winning team.
  6. I think that years ago a team set its rotation from the best to the worse and that was either the days of the four pitcher rotation or now where we see five pitchers. I think the Sox legitimetly have 6 starters. Anyway in todays game you wonder if it makes any real difference how they start. I do agree with giving Buerhle the opening day start though because he is the best of the group and has earned it. But after that it might be more match ups then anything else.
  7. It's crazy alright! :rolly B) I think we are going to have one stud pitching staff and maybe even better than last year.
  8. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) If Joe Borchard can bat 8th, (he would be an average CF and gold glove LF. problem is Pods is nowhere near a CF at least Borchard has an arm) I would be fine with this. I actually think Borchard is going to have an impact for us. I think you might be right. I think Joe B will be on the roster out of ST and will contribute in whatever role he is put in by the Sox. Mack is the super sub for the infield and when you start messing with those kind of players you can waeken the team. I think with Mack in the infield and Joe B in the OF, playing whatever role he is supposed to play, you have a stronger team.
  9. I think Borchard will be the Sox 4th OF'er when ST breaks and the team heads North. If for no other reason then we aren't going to piss away over $5M. But, I was liking what I was seeing from Joe B last year. He may have matured at the plate enough that it's finally his time.
  10. Reading this article, and I just now took a look at it, makes me a bit angry. #1 you don't go to a White House function that honors sports teasm/heroes with the idea of making a political statement, and by not going I don't see why that should be taken as an insult. That's what makes America great too-freedom of choice and love of your family. He wants to be with his family so try and read something political into that... I guess moronic reporting does.
  11. Maybe one of the guys can pick me up one of those souvenir White House spoons?
  12. QUOTE(MarkBuehrle_TheAce @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) am I the only sox fan in this forum who happens to beleive that jerry owens should be our starter in center? Yes. DITTO! I have never even seen the kid play about AA ball yet so don't be so quick to hand over the CF job to him. Maybe in a year or two when Dye is let go you can expect to see Owens up. Patience.
  13. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Feb 6, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) I was reading the paper,not sure if was the Tribune or Herald, today and an article caught my attention. Carlos Lee may be heading back to the White Sox in enxchange for Jose or Dye. This could be just writters putting out crap for people to read or this could be reality. I say no to Carlos, bad defense and a big contract equal bad team chemistry. No Sox names were mentioned that I remember and it was just one of those "maybe-possibly-could be-what if-" kind of stories. The only thing I picked up was Rogers thinking Carlos wouldn't be affordable to the Brewers after his present contract expires.
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) The Twins will finish ahead of the Indians. It will be close between the Twinkies and the Indians, but they both will still be eating our smoke.
  15. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 03:50 AM) For all the stats guys out there... Have NL players--especially the bigger stars like Thome--adjusted well to AL pitching and style of play? Is there usually some adjustment period? If so, we may have to be patient...not expecting him to hit 4 HRs during the first week of play. I don't mean to rub it in and have no desire to read the other 1 million posts on this, but Thome came up with the Indians and was a big smasher in the AL. I think the injries he has played with were since he went to the NL, but I am not sure. He played 1B most all the time with the Tribe and of course with the Phillies. My question is how he will adjust to DHing more often than not now he is back with the AL style of play. I think he had PK will be switched off quite a bit, but I guess that is really Ozzie's call.
  16. QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 02:09 AM) Very solid analysis, but this is news to me: Jose Contreras' reward for going 15-7 and being one of the AL's best pitchers down the stretch last season was a move back to the bottom of the rotation. At least his matchups should be favorable (take note, Commissioner players and other daily-transactions leaguers). Isn't Count our #2 going into the season? He basically became #1 for the last month or so. You have to wonder if that won't carry over.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) Also, the Astros won the World Series. They did? And all this time I thought the Sox had won, or that's what I was telling all my baseball fan friends. I am so glad the Score has set the record straight on so many issues.
  18. Didn't know that KW was the field manager and when he pipes in during an interview with Guillen to say where Anderson plays in 06 it makes you wonder if all those stories about KW being a dictator were right. Let Ozzie talk for crying out loud. Of course this may be all a bunch a baloney also since ST hasn't even started
  19. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) Now that there is funny, I dont care who ya'are And that's documented
  20. You are giving up a grade A pitcher for a AA level minor league player even up? Please take a deep breath and settle down.
  21. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) That's just plain gross right there. And that's documented!!!
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) That still doesnt change the fact that I dont think they got a "good RF" like you stated. I tend to agree with you on that Tony. I think they have an adequate OF'er, who may be more of a 4th option, but can be an asset either way. He just isn't the MAN in the OF for the Tribe.
  23. Can't we just be serious for a moment? :rolly I think the Sox pitcher that wins the Cy Young will be right handed, but there is always the possibility he might be a lefty too.
  24. QUOTE(crazyman26 @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) I predict a White Sox picture will win the Cy Young next year, not sure which one, but one of them will! Are you sure you want to go out on a limb like that? Tell us who you think might go all the way in 2006?
