  1. QUOTE(Wedge @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) I'd be sad if Ozzie didn't come back. I don't know that we could replace him. Sweet Lou might be about the only guy crazy enough to take over for Ozzie. What has Lou Piniella done lately?
  2. I like Dave Letterman. I liked Craig Kilborn too while he was doing the late show. Dave is funny with his missing names and messing them up, etc. Why all the fuss? The Sox are 2-0 in the World Series and nothing that anybody in the media says or does will change that. I am just enjoying the moment and looking foward to the championship.
  3. What is all this about anyway?
  4. I think he needs a rest and put Willie in there for a game.
  5. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 05:27 AM) Did he even throw one hammer tonight? He only threw one in Game 1 but it struck the guy out. Is he too nervous to throw it for fear of hanging it? I think he did throw a curve or two, but the thing that stuck in my mind was the fact he was down in velocity and also poor location. The two out two run single wasn't a bad pitch all in all, but that's what the dude was looking for. The Astro's put up a contact hitter and I think if Jens would have been firing it upstairs and not placing it low and outside to get flicked to left the story would have been different. Jenks is still learning and that's where Cooper and Pierzynski come in to the picture.
  6. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) Jane Fonda / Gene Honda – Separated at Birth? On the bright side, God Bless America as sung by Kate Smith is a standard on the jukebox of every gay bar in the United States. So I’m sure plenty of folks get downright misty-eyed whenever that song begins to play. I thought the McCarthy hearings weeded you people out of mainstream America? Whoever you people are. These boys are singing that well known anthem of those people: Where have all the Flowers Gone?
  7. If Kenny and Jerry are serious about keeping this team of winners intact then they will spend what it takes to keep Frank and Paulie here.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) No one is talking about breaking up the team. In fact, looking at it realistically, you can probably safely say that seven of the nine positions are already filled (Pierzynski, Iguchi, Uribe, Crede, Podsednik, Rowand/Anderson, Dye -- at 1B or RF). But, they need to get better offensively. Our rotation is set (Buehrle/Garland/Contreras/Garcia/B-Mac), much of our bullpen is set (Hermy/Cotts/Jenks/Politte, with Marte probably being traded), so they have to use the money that's going to come in and get some strong offensive players in here; and Sheffield is a strong offensive player. I really doubt KW would trade for Sheffield. We don't need Sheffield. I think Gary Sheffield is a darn good player and swings a powerful bat, but the question is where does he play in the Sox lineup WITHOUT breaking up the team? We need to concentrate on keeping who we have and that included Konerko. Frank Thomas will add the punch we need and he is and always has been a part of the Sox makeup. Here we talk about trading the likes of Rowand and Cotts and letting Konerko go and adding a player in the fading and waning days of his career. Sheffield is injury prone and not seen as ateam player. Plus he demands a hefty salary. Let's appreciate who we have on the Sox team. I can still remember the calls to trade Contreras, Crede, McCarthy and even Konerko earlier this year.
  9. I think it's a bit ironic that we are in the World Series, winners of game one and looking like a powerhouse ourselves and there is alreay talk of breaking up the team. Of course every player on any team, but especially a winner, that is seen as good always appears headed for the Yankmees. Hopefully it doesn't happen and we keep our group intact and have a healthy Frank Thomas back next year. That would be just like making a big trade.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) Just got the word from New York. Company tickets are being over-nighted. Me and my father sharing a White Sox World Series game together on the Southside of Chicago. Unreal. This still hasn't sunk in yet. Soxtalk Roll Call For Game Two: CONGRATULATIONS! I know you will have a thrill of a lifetime. I'll have to settle for my big screen TV.
  11. I'll just add my 2 cents here even though it has been covered already. I am thinking the baseball writers, or whoever votes on Rookie of the Year, may want to see my opinion. If Ichiro can win Rookie of the Year then Tad Iguchi deserves every consideration. Japanese baseball may be a step higher than AAA, but it's not Major League.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) I really can't see us not brining back Paul. We need Paul Konerko and the Big Hurt both back so let's spend some money. My guess is this is not a valid story anyway when considering Paulie's status. He and Kenny ain't going to be discussing contract during the WS. Afterwards I hope so!
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) Going to the games. You lucky girl you. I saw the prices of the game tickets and figuring in the cost of airfare, hotels, meals, etc, I told my wife we were driving to Chitown and the games and would sleep in the car if need be. She wouldn't go for it. I thought about leaving her behind, but I guess I'll settle for TV
  14. I told my wife that my four-year old grand daughter and I will be cheering from in front of my big screen TV. The kid likes the Sox too. We will ordering home delivery for dinner. I am excited about this stuff. I have been a Sox fan since 1959 and man oh man am I ready.
  15. Maybe they will just come to Cobb Field in Billings and play their WS games? B) B)
  16. QUOTE(traydragen @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) 1) Has/Did anyone record those games on dvd or video? And if you did I would much like to get a copy of each, I will pay for everything + some extra dough..and 2) Is there anyway to get copies of the Chicago Tribune from out of South Carolina, without having a subscription to the newspaper? I am guessing some newstand carries the Chicago Tribune around here but I'm not sure if there is a way to order just one copy from the Tribune itself..?? Thanks for the help guys..ohh yea and I recorded the pennant winning game of Sunday night. If you send me your address I'll send you a copy at no charge.
  17. I think, from what we have been reading on this controversy and some yelling for NFL type replays, that the majority of baseball fans and others don't want instant replay. I agree 100%. I hope the lay it to rest.
  18. AJP fits in with this team big time. We haven't had this type of fellow behind the plate for alot of years now and I hope we keep him for a few more.
  19. McCarver made the statement that this play in the 9th might be the crowning argument for instant replay like they have in that game called footsballie. I say no way! Umpires and the calls they make are just as much a part of this game as the players and their on field failures and successes. You might as well have computerized automons out there playing and calling the plays if you go to instant replays. I think the great game of baseball incorporates it all from the fantastic fielding plays to the stolen base to the missed bunt and including the sometimes missed call from an ump that turns the tide of a game. Close calls can go your ay or not-I think it all evens out. The bottom line is you have to execute and take advantage of the other teams mistakes or their failure to execute. Don't change the game! Your thoughts?

Fact is, they had their chances to win and they didn't capitalize. Mark Buehrle threw one helluva game. We took advantage of their mistakes and seized the opportunity. Aboz, I just cut and pasted some of your comments, but what I wanted to say is that I agree with this 100%. I had this argument with some other fans and it was just as you say. The Sox took advantage of the situation good call or bad call it doesn't matter. They executed and the Angles failed. That's the game period.
  21. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) MLB says he made the right call, so in their eyes, there is nothing to make up!!! You are right and if he is supported by MLB that's all the counts. I am not owrried and we shouldn't be paranoid. The Umps are professionals. I heard Tim McCarver scream for the instant replay to be implemented. BS in my opinion. The umpires are just as much a part of the game as the players. It's a human thing performing and calling a game and not a computerized version of a real life sport. I like it the way it is. I think I might start this as a new post.
  22. I love Joe Crede and have supported him all along, but we have had some pretty nasty mean spirited things said about him on this board. The season is 162 games plus some more, if your lucky. Joe has been a huge part of this teasm success. Everyone fails some times and comes through on others. Joe has been clutch
  23. It was pretty disturbing, but the idea is- I guess - Be aggressive, but jeepers creepers there were no outs. Hold the guy at third and get the run in with a grounder, fly ball, etc. It was close though.
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) I think Ozzie went to Marte instead of Cotts because we had a 2 game and 2 run lead. He was still trying to get Marte straightened out because he thinks he'll need him. I think Marte has pitched his last game in a Sox uniform. \\Interesting thought there YASNY. I am not so sure though now that Ozzie put him on the ALCS roster. I was leaning towards your idea, but now I wonder if Ozzie doesn't try and make him a Spring Training project? There isn't any doubt that when Marte is on he is very good and quality lefty releivers are in demand. But, he hasn't been good for awhile and I am thinking consistency here. was at that game in Denver when Marte got pulled because of his arm hurting so I am leaning towards an injury being the issue.
  25. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) There is no wondering about Marte at this point. He quite clearly is not capable of being an effective reliever right now. There is no way he should be on the ALCS roster. He can't get lefties out, you can't trust him in a tight game, and he can't really eat innings if a game is a blowout. I can't argue with you at all. Marte has done some real clutch pitching, but clearly he just ain't got it right now whatever the reason. I am leaning towards him being hurt also. Put BMac on the roster.
