  1. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Dec 26, 2005 -> 04:12 AM) Gee your probably right!! Not thinking. Thanks for the wake up call!! I can see why Boston would want to trade him, they would probably trade him to the N.L. Thanks for correcting my error very much appreciated. The real question though is why would anyone want to give up the prospects mentioned for a broken down pitcher? Wells might have one or two years left max and not be anywhere near the 15 game wins you might want or need out of him.
  2. Joe Borchard deserves the chance. You don't inverst $5M in a player & just let him go. He may have struggled, but was showing some real promise last year with cutting down on hs swing and making some adjustments.
  3. The Chisox might be flying under that radar just barely skimming the surface and then bammo! We get Tejada. Probably not, but who knows. Tejada would be pretty neat in a Sox uniform, but pay wise can we afford him?And after what Uribe did in the WS it makes you want to hug ole Juan.
  4. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Cooper will work his magic and Redding will be a stud. Loaiza didn't have control problems that I remember. He just needed a new pitch. However, if Redding turns it around he might make things interesting in the bullpen.
  5. We don't need to sign any stinkin players... especially for the OF where Borchard will be the 4th man.
  6. Ponson does probably warrant a second chance, but I am glad it is with someone other than the Chisox. I remember last off season when everyone seemed so hot on getting Sid. He turned into a lazy fat pitcher and was trouble for everyone. Maybe he got the wake up call though?
  7. I think we can all agree, except Qwerty maybe, that Pods looked good during the playoffs and WS. I think he will be just fine.
  8. I can't believe the Yankees and their constant overspending. It's like they want to put the other teams out of business financially r something. Keep throwing money on it is George Steinbrenner's motto
  9. Garland stays as does the other 5 and we use a 6 man rotation that includes McCarthy. Garland will sign an extension with the Sox. I have the inside scoop/
  10. I hope Nomar nd Mia are happy getting to live and play in La-La land.
  11. When it is said that Garland WILL test free agency next year and we should trade him for a prospect I get a bit angry. First of all we don't know if the Sox can't make him a good offer to stay, but on the other hand here is the organization that made him a pitcher. It made him a winner and one can assume from the way things are sounding that there is no loyalty from Garland to stay. The sad thing about this game is it all boils down to money and that it doesn't matter which side is bringing it up. I wish we had the simpler days of the game back.
  12. The Yankees don't have a good track record lately on pitcher trades. Villone is not the answer to our needs so good to luck to him in NY.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) I sit here and wonder why the f*** you would sign with the Royals I believe it is because they still want to play baseball and get a paycheck and KC is all that's left
  14. QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) Here's the exact quote... It is speculated down in Dallas that the White Sox are on the verge of sending Jon Garland and Joe Crede to the Rangers for Brad Wilkerson, Hank Blalock and a major prospect. Submitted by: Ralph Malph 4:17 PM CST, Dec 14, 2005 Do the Rangers have any prospects other than those they acquired from the Sox? I am thinking that Garland might be more apt to be going to Baltimore in trade for Tejada.
  15. Gload is gone anmd maybe Ozuna if we do any other trades. I see us going with a six man rotation next year with B Mac being added. I wonder who will be the bullpen long man though. If there are any more moves I think it will be there unless B Mac goes to the pen. I don't see the OF'er trade becasue we still need to be cognizant of money and Anderson and others may step in as has been previosuly mentioned.
  16. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) I doubt we'd have to give up a prospect in the deal. Garland is younger, cheaper, and was better than Vazquez last year. Vazquez is demanding a trade so the Diamondbacks are trying to move him. If it happens at all it will be Brandon McCarthy and a prospect pitcher for Vazquez. You don't give up a star pitcher for another star pitcher when the player demands a trade. I hope it doesn't happen at all though. Garland won 18 games how many did Javier win?
  17. The real question about Jones is do we need him? I don't see the need since we have several young promising candidates internally. You have to also consider money. The Sox payroll is going up and we need any xtra money to sign our own players to longer contracts.
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) For all the s*** Willie gets, remember that he looked alot better after being called up from AAA, remember that he sucks up everything at 2B, and remember that he's speed off the bench. And I hear that people didn't like Willie because I guess he pulled some stunt in 2004, but from everything I've seen this past year, he was always talking to guys on the team like Buehrle and it looked like he got along with them just fine. I like Willie Harris and what he brings to the Sox. He can spot start at CF or 2B and hopefully will work on that SS thing. Having a player like Willie that can steal you a base or otherwise PR for a slowpoke standing on second when we need that winning run, etc, is apositive for the Sox. Willie is a good team player. I don't think it's wrong of any player to want more playing time. That shows their desire to win.
  19. I don't see the Rule V draft as an option after KW said he wasn't going to select anyone from that pool. If you do select someone they have to stay on the ML roster or be offered back to their original team. I think what we will see is a super sub type player being signed or traded for and most likely Tony Graffanino being the guy. I know he wants to play everyday, but he fits that supersub role so well and plays hard nosed baseball that he is more valuable playing 2B-SS-3B then any one position. He can be persuaded to sign with the White Sox as long as Boston let's him go. Mark my words... (as long as I spelled them all correctly)
  20. QUOTE(Balance @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) Damn. I was hoping that he'd choose to retire as a South Sider. I was hoping we would be keeping the Big Hurt somehow someway
  21. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) What do you expect Kenny to say? We absolutely need Pierre, Ozzie loves him and wont stop b****ing at me to trade for him. Thatll help negotations. SB Badger, I have to disagree. We DON'T absolutely need Pierre. The only reason we would have him at all on this team is because of his speed. He is not an upgrade from Rowand as far as fielding. I like the idea of giving our rookies a chance to play and I wouldn't want to be giving up any young talent for Pierre.
  22. I think Griffey Jr is on the Sox radar screen to play CF. Or was that last year? Hard to keep up with these things. KW likes aging stars who can still produce. You wait and watch BBTN this week and I'll bet KG Jr's name comes up again going to the White Sox. Maybe Tony Graffanino comes back too as super sub even though I see he wants to play everyday. He might come close as a Sox sub though.
  23. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) What makes you think Barry Zito is going to accept a 3 yr 20 million dollar a year deal? Garland isn't going anywhere anyways, moot point. Zito would be a great pickup, but I don't see KW trading away Garland. Although some funny things have happened before and will again.
  24. The Sox were interested in Mueller at one time, but not anymore. Crede is the starting 3Bman. Mueller isn't going to take a fill in role. Money is one problem with getting Mueller. Crede is ready to break out and is a better fit for the Chisox
