  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 7, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) The ball just bounced off the track. Kerry Robinson miss playing the ball confused the hell out of everyone including the umps. I watched the game on WGN and have to say it was one of the craziest things I have seen in a ballgame in quite awhile. I am sure that will be in some ESPN highlights. It sure looked as if Joe was going to get the homer and so it must have looked to Kerry Robinson. He jumped at the wall and the wind knocked the ball down enough for it to bounce on the rack and over the wall. I think the only one who knew it wasn't a homer was Joe Crede. But on the otehr hand how about that Joe Crede and his great clutch hitting? I luv the guy.
  2. Crede is a highlight reel all by himself, but I liked Tad's play best so far.
  3. There have been way too many shaky appearances by the relief corp. Tonight the only one to get someone out without surrendering hits and/or walks was Politte. To many walks and failing to get the first batter out. Absolutely unacceptable. I don't know if Nelson is the answer, but he cant be worse then what we have seen
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) Interesting. That doesn't excite me at all but I assume he's going to replace Boone. I wouldn't count on that just yet. Boone went 2 plus and k'd 5 the other night and I think the Sox like that 3 Lefty option. Nelson might make it to the team, but will have to prove himself at AAA first. You might see a position player like Gload being sent down and another relief pitcher brought up.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 1, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) If Crede can stay healthy and hit relatively consistently, I think we'll be signing him to a long term deal. Josh Fields is not the answer at 3rd base, however, he may replace Pods in LF in time. Yes! Good analysis and I think Crede has shown improvdement at the plate. Joe is one of my favorite players on the team. The defense is gold glove caliber.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) I honestly can't "fathom" how Anderson's going to be a solid hitter with his current swing. It's so ugly. If you didn't know better, you'd think it was a pitcher batting some of the time. Brian has shown promise, but I think he is overmatched at this point by ML pitching. He may need more farm time. I have picked up on compliments on his defense though. However, even in that area criticism has surfaced saying Rowand is better. Uribe has no patience, but has shown he can hit. The defense is what sets him apart
  7. I think there still there. We just lost 2 of 3 at Seattle. Last year though we won the AL Title with a 2 game sweep in LALA land. Who knows?!
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) The guy has given up 1 whole run. He couldn't find the strikezone today but this is the first time including spring training that, that has happened. If he can't throw strikes you guys are all right..he's useless but if he can continue to pound the strike zone, then he'll be a fine loogy. The problem is lack of work opportunities for the relief corp. You get the 10th and 11th pitchers on the team and they get even less than the other relief pitchers. Look at yesterdays game where Jenks get used in the 9th in a 9-2 game/ It is just to try and get him some work. All the relief pitchers are going to have to work on the sidelines with some intensity to keep themselves ready because our starters are going 6 plus innings every game.
  9. I am thinking the Sox franchise may be affordable to me and a partner. I have a call into my good friend Donald Trumpet.
  10. It's amazing what a nine game winning streak will do to one's attitude. It just seems so many things started to jell and straighten themselves out. The last three pitching performances for instance. WOW!
  11. If I were Mark I would be upset with a fine and even just with being told "I couldn't "dance" in the rain." I don't like it when management starts telling you what to do and not do in situations not specific to your job. And I am a manager. I think it's just fine to have fun when you want. It puts a different face on you and the organization. IMO Kenny and Ozzie are over reacting.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 03:21 AM) This thread will inevitably hit an intollerable streak of annoying posts. You started it Kalapse by stating the obvious
  13. QUOTE(G&T @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) no problem Thome also had a quick interview before Hawk was on, but it was a lot of fluff. One thing he did say was that with all the homers hit this year it will make people forget the past. Somehow I doubt that, but I'm sure Selig would like it. I also thank you for posting on what transpires on the Score. I went out and bought that XM satelittle radio finally only to find out I can't get reception inside the apartment I live in. Something about tinted windows and such. I didn't know the place had tinted windows, but oh well. I do get the broadcast when in my car, but I can't really live there. I wonder if this is worth it's own post: How do I get reception in the apt?
  14. QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) But he didn't You are correctamundo!!! He can still step up when need be I reckon.
  15. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) so is the consensus that freddy still has these complete, occasional breakdowns or do we blame the 5th on the rain? Right now, early in the season of course, Freddie is the #5 guy in the rotation. I'd rather see McCarthy in there I think. Maybe we will trade Freddie G for a #1 closer? Billy Koch available?
  16. Yes, Garcia gets a complete game and all stats count. But, IT WAS an UGLY top of the 5th. I thought he was going to just completely fall apart.
  17. What's the latest on the weather in Chicago? Will it clear up enough for the game to restart? This is just like opening night when it pired for 3 hours, but we did get that one in. I was enjoying the offensive display and sure hated to see that rain. Watching Cosby on WGN now
  18. I will be watching on WGN. See you all on the TV! Now, I have to go change my PTC
  19. Big league hitters will hit "hangers" and hit them hard. Consistencywith good pitches and with good location will make the difference. I guess with only 2 weeks in the season and we are only 1 game out makes me think that we still are the guys to win this one again. Cleveland and Detroit have had some decent pitched games while we haven't had as many, but are right there with them. The Sox staff is too talented not to come around. However, it sure is frustrating to see our bullpen get jacked around like they are and starters giving up 7 or 9 runs a game.
  20. We should have kept Borchard rather than Ozuna. I think we can only hope against hope that the adventures of Matt Thornton don't blow up in our face at the wrong time. But, that trade aside ole Pablo couldn't catch a fly with a bottle of syrup.
  21. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) JG will be the odd man out this winter! No, I don't think you can say that in week 2 of the season. Jon Garland is probbaly my favorite Sox pitcher to watch when he is going good. The guy can be a phenomenal pitcher. But, when he is bad it stinks. But, then all bad games stink I guess.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) Jon is human, and has the right to have a few bad days over 182 games. Get 'em outta the way now I say. And I agree with Oz leaving him in there and not pulling a Jerry and pulling him right away. Oz has always let the guys try to pitch out of crap. I am not able to watch the game to see Jon pitch and if it's just bad outings, well we know anyone can have those. Main thing is to win even if its 50-49.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) Seriously. Just have to have 1 more then the other guys at the end of 9. This is correct! However, I am just concerned with Jon Garland. To give up 9 runs in KC and nopw 7 or whatever in Detroit in about 5 innings when the guy was lights out last year makes you worried he has some arm problem.
  24. I want toi know what's up with Garland. He blew a 6-0 lead in KC and now is headed to another blow up.
