  1. MLB Game Day is all screwed up. I see Konerko double and then it said Andeson batting for Everett and now Anderson PRunning for Konerko. What's happening?
  2. Little dissapointed, oh heck I am a lot dissapointed, in the fact Fox Sports screwed me out of the chance to see the Sox play tonight on WGN. However, they did show the Iguchi homer so that's good anyway. We should be worrying so much about our opponent in the playoffs. The thing is you get there and then play whoever you have to play. You play your game and play to win. You are going to face the best teams anyway and they all ahve a strength or two.
  3. I hope we can get the ball out of the infield or resort to everyone laying down bunts and hope for the best
  4. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) Our hitting is garbage. Yes, but their pitching is more garbage than our hitting... so there!
  5. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) And wasn't even CLOSE to making contact. Then again he hasn't played much since he's arrived............ I'm a bit torn about this series. I'd LOVE to knock these f***ers out, but then again that would mean we will probably face Boston in the 1st round. And their offense really scares me. But their pitching is garbage.
  6. Millwood is agood pitcher, but two singles right off the bat with no one out and then we can't get one past the pitcher with the next three hitters just shows the pathetic offensive display the Sox show every game almost. Buerhle made the comment that this series against the Tribe doesn't mean anything. He gave up a leadoff double to Sizemore. I hope he didn't really mean to just lollipop it up there? He has to want to win doesn't he?
  7. QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) For some reason, my post from yesterday didn't get through. I'll try again. 4 starting pitchers: 1. Contreras 2. Buehrle 3. Garcia 4. Garland 5 bullpen arms 5. Jenks 6. Politte 7. Cotts 8. Hermanson 9. Marte (gulp, but we have to have him) 2 more pitchers 10. McCarthy (earned spot; best long reliever, can get K's and doesn't walk anyone) 11. El Duque (experience, could be key if we play Yanks, rested) Odd man out: Vizcaino (only useful when he pitches a lot, and he hasn't in quite some time; otherwise he's a right handed Marte). 14 hitters 12. Konerko 13. Iguchi 14. Uribe 15. Crede 16. Pierzynski 17. Podsednik 18. Rowand 19. Dye 20. Everett 2 obvious bench players: 21. Widger 22. Ozuna Decisions, decisions. 23. Willie Harris (speed in 1-run game is key; still best defensive 2B, can play OF) I would take: 24. Brian Anderson (won't happen, but I'd rather have right-handed pop with better defense, than a lefty (Perez) 25. Ross Gload (also won't happen, but he can pinch hit, whereas Blum cannot, and he's the designated late game pinch runner for Konerko anyway. Plus, he's a better defensive 1B than Blum). Left home: Timo Perez and Geoff Blum. Of course both are going to go instead of Anderson/Gload, but I wish Ozzie would choose the better ballplayers. We don't need Blum especially because he's really 3rd on the depth chart at every position he plays. No matter what anyone's thoughts are you won't see Vizcaino left off the roster nor will you see Perez and Blum off, both of whom, have either been with this team or at least in the Majors all year. Andeson ain't goin and I am betting McvCarthy isn't either. El Duque will go bad arm or not. That's Ozzie thinking there.
  8. If Crede is in the line up today then I think he will hit a homer or two. He will be walking on cloud nine as a new father. Freddie can get past the first inning and not give up a run then I think he will be pitching a winner. Dye in the 3rd spot? OK! Let's go Sox!
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Come on! The whole thing was just a joke. I thought it would be funny to post that on here because so many people think that ESPN hates the Sox. Your OK Fathom. I agree that ESPN must use a deck of psychic cards trying to find out who will make it and who won't. Brantley proobably gave them the cards too.
  10. Thanks! Where is our national TV coverage?
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) Man. Jermaine's crushed the ball a few times. Out or safe? I am on CBS sportsline and its froze in the bottom of the 6th
  12. Look at that pitch count by the Count. 69 through 6 innings. That is simply superb
  13. You have to really applaud Jose C and his efforts. If it weren't for him we would be in the tank right now looking up at the Tribe. He comes out game after game and gives it a AAA plus performance. Some members of this team could learn a lesson.
  14. I couldn't believe this garbage. 1st and 3rd with 1 out and we can't score AGAIN! A flyball to LF and we still can't get it far enough out to score. We continue to fail
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) In the Sox defense (I know they don't deserve it) Pablo killed the ball with 1 out and a runner on 3rd (just right to Polanco who barely caught it) and than Uribe was robbed of a homer. I think snb or someone mentioned that they were robbed of one in the 1st as well?? I am watching on CBS sportsline computer display so I don't visually have a clue on this game. I thought ESPN might carry it, but I see they are continuing their Red Sox love affair.
  16. Dye came through with 2 outs and we have a tie game. However, Carl foils the plot to have a break out game.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) Thanks for the edit suggestion. Was there something wrong with what you said? I liked them both for once in the one time that you said it twice or more but it could have been less times than once.
  18. How many more bad themes emerging can we handle?
  19. I have nothing against Blum other than he can't hit, but I was surprised that the Red Sox got Tony Graffanino and we weren't even in that hunt that I know of. I think Tony is more of the Sox type mold.
  20. We had a lot of Ozzie supporters till about August ad then slowly but surely the crescendo started. There were many questions about his handling of the pitching, his moves during the game, etc, etc, etc. I don't know if this collapse is Ozzie's fault or not. I see a manager with no managing experience prior to being chosen last year to lead the Sox. I think it shows, but I also see someone the players like and respect. Many had lost that for Jerry Manuel. Did Ozzie bring out the winning side of the team when we were getting it done? The team had talent under Manuel, but the only thing we really lacked was that 5th starter back then. We had hitting, but it slumped too, but I am not certain it lacked this badly. We lost 2 .300 hitters that could hit 30 plus homers and drive in 100 plus runs and we have what in place of them? That isn't all Ozzie's fault adn we have some hitters just not performing to the levels they can perform. Maybe that's Ozzie's fault and maybe not. We have 5 games left and lead by 2 games. Could we say that in 2001-2002-2003 or 2004? The answer is obviously NO! We can still win this and if we do I'll be happy and I think most of us fit in that category. That's what I choose to think right now. We can WIN this thing. Let's Go Sox!
  21. I have to agree that the offesne needs to be shaken up whether it's a massive change or what I don't know, but these guys are just plain pathetic.
  22. This Infante guy, you knowe the one that is hitting .220 looks like Lou Gehrig against us. Anymore surprises coming?
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) I know one thing...we'd all feel a s***load better if that happened. I know that is true. I can't believe these Tigers don't know they are acrappy team and ain't going anywhere. They should roll over for us.
  24. I had a dream once about the Sox winning the pennant, but the year was all kind of fuzzy. Do you think there is a chance that Tribe loses and we rally to get a 3 game edge, or will it happen the other way around?
