  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) Who goes to the bench next year, Abreu or Morales? I see your point. But I think they'll be definitely moving people this offseason. I just think Arte wants to dip into the FA market this year and Scioscia has always had a fondness for Konerko. They really want to add offense in the offseason from what I've read.
  2. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) The D'Backs just declined LaRoche's option. I don't know if that means they will go after Konerko, but LaRoche might be a somewhat cheaper (and younger) option at 1st for the Sox... Yeah...the thing about the DBags though...I'm not sure they can afford Konerko. Plus...the AL makes more sense seeing how Paulie's 35 years old...so how can an NL justify paying big money to and over 35 year old to be the everyday 1B...with no DH? That's why I keep saying Halos
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Brewers reportedly hire Angels Bench Coach Ron Roenicke as their manager. Might not end up being a bad hire at all....
  4. Looking forward to the 40 pages of Gonzalez talk again when SD figures they have to dump him sometime between now and the trading deadline next season....
  5. I still see him in a Halo hat...with a DBag hat a close 2nd (they haven't done their typical PR move for a little while and are due to). Who knows...maybe SF will take a run at him too. Anybody that has teams that do spring in florida...you should probably cross them off your list.

    Juan Uribe

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) I rather have a young Beckham with more potential for the cheap than Uribe. All I'm saying for as cheap as Uribe is he was still worth keeping around.... Love the "potential" word too. We'll see about Beckham next year. I'm predicting he struggles again...hope not.

    Juan Uribe

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) Juan being gone allowed for Gordon Beckham to come up in 2009. If you think for a minute that Beckham would of been promoted last year with Uribe on the team I think you are dreaming. Would that really have been a bad thing?!? Gordon is absolutely CLUELESS at the plate right now. Maybe he was rushed just a tad...had some success...and now he struggles. Who knows... All I know is Juan is a pretty valuable asset to have. Might drive you nuts at times...but others is money. Just sayin...

    Juan Uribe

And on a side note...all I recall is how many people on here b****ed about him.

    Juan Uribe

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) I wanted Juan to be our 3B coming into this year. I miss that guy. I miss him more than anybody we've gotten rid of to be honest with you. Sure he'd drive you nuts with his plate discipline sometimes...but like many have said...when he's hot he can carry you. Plus...one of the best glove men we've ever had. And why did we let him go again?!? What did he sign with SF for last year $500K?!? F-me! I'll always root for Juan. Easily one of my all-time favs! HAHAHAAAA...and as I type this he knocks in a run!!! LOVE YOU JUAN!!!
  10. Juan Uribe brings a tear to my eye...happy for him. And honestly...he should still be here. They said Oz was saying to Bruce, "he'll be your best 3B...your best SS...your best 2B..." Then why the F did you let him go?!? Regardless...I'm an AL guy...but really wants Juan and SF to win this thing.
  11. why the F would the Brewers hire Cora instead of sticking it to the Cubs and hiring Ryno who wouldn't be all that bad IMO....
  12. pursue a chance in Asia?!? WTF does that mean?!? He got his eye on some hot asian poonanny?!?
  13. I still love Juan Uribe!!! I miss him!
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) No, you're wrong. D'Antoni might have considered it but jumped at the Knicks before the Bulls got around to making an offer. The job was given to Doug Collins but he decided he didn't want to coach again at the time. Thibs, I can't remember if he even got interviewed, but that process dragged on literally forever. Regardless of who thinks who is right or wrong...to say nobody wanted the job is ridiculous. I'd say a ton of people would have jumped at the job. And the fact that D'Antoni jumped at the ridiculous amount of quiche the Knicks threw at this was understandable (and thank god they did). Seems to me though that it was JR who nixed the Collins idea...but regarless. Paxson had a very short list. I'm sure a s***load of people contacted Pax about the opening. To say nobody wanted it though seems way off...
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) Anybody in the system? Lol. That's not very bold. But would u trade Beckham? And no more alcohol for u if u say yes. I'd trade Beckham in a heartbeat in the right deal. Like many have said tho...his value really isn't that high right now. Tell ya what...I just have a bad feeling about him right now for some reason. He looked absolutely clueless at the plate this past year except for a few mini-streaks. Love to see him turn it around...but it really wouldn't surprise me if he got sent down at some point next year. Hope I'm wrong.
  16. Not that Girardi was gonna go to the Cubs...but I imagine that cubs got wind he had no desire. This sure isn't the "wow" hire many Cub fans were hoping for. Only a 2-year deal. Not a huge vote of confidence there. Maybe he's just keeping the seat warm for Ryno. I'd be pissed if I was a Cub fan. Mediocrity at it's best here.
  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 10, 2010 -> 09:10 PM) It's the MARLINS, they wont pay that much for a pitcher, especially after giving up one of the top young hitters in all of baseball. They're focused on building from within, and they do a pretty damn good job that way. If they trade for someone it'll be a young and cheap commodity under team control for years to come. Beckham would probably interest them alot, but Stanton is a MUCH better player than Beckham and has a much better future. Oh but you think they'd pay for Ozzie?!?...they're moving into a new stadium soon (is it this next year). Again...who knows who has a better future. It's pure speculation at this point. If Beckham was a complete stud...would you have a problem giving him up for 2 or 3 MLB proven players?
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 10, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) I'm not sure all those guys and prime Frank Thomas would be enough to get Stanton (I'm obviously exaggerating. But you get the point). I expect Stanton to hit 40 HRs next year at the ripe old age of 21. dude...who knows. That have a ton of holes and you don't think they'd think about a proven like Danks with some other talent involved? Seems to me they'd be in the same boat as we are with Beckham...you really don't know what you have yet? Isn't pitching the premium here?
  19. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 10, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) Stanton would cost Beckham, Sale, Morel, and any other living body we have plus the Sox covering any cost associated with those players. We all know Sale is going nowhere... Covering any other cost?!?...really. I'd think the Marlins would seriously consider Danks. And to get a player like Stanton...if it'd cost Beckham or Morel...so be it IMO. But Sale is probably as off limits as it gets.
  20. ok...lemme throw this out there. IF Konerko signs elsewhere I think the term "rebuilding" will be applicable to this team. It's a very realistic possibility he'll leave. What then? Can you replace that production with a Dunn or whoever in that ilk?...doubtful. But then again I honestly doubt Paulie puts up those kind of numbers again. Does anybody think that a deal with the Marlins would be possible for Mike Stanton? I definitely think it would have to include probably Danks and Q with some filler...but if the Sox do go into "rebuild" mode...Kenny needs to target some young stud power hitters with Stanton being at the top of the list IMO.
  21. Isn't he listed as a Type A? Do we get picks if he signs elsewhere?
  22. poor offensive game plan also. Goddamn...screen passes, dump offs underneath....something. Doesn't help when NOBODY can friggin block.
