  1. That might be the ballgame
  2. I hope that at least lasted long enough to keep Brash from coming out for a second inning.
  3. So far I think only once this inning did the hitter know that the slider was a slider and that was the time that Acuna took it outside for a ball. Maybe Mune was finally with it by the time he was swinging 3-2.
  4. I was hoping we wouldn't have to see Brash. He's so nasty.
  5. Yeah Chase didn't really move at all, I'm not sure why. If it was a right-handed batter I'd think maybe he was somewhat screened from seeing the ball but he should have had a great look at it all. Just a brain fart I guess.
  6. Sox entered this game 24th in baserunning value per FG's metrics. That's a combination of the bases you gain from speed/wiliness, the bases lost due to speed/stupidity, stolen bases, etc. Colson and Mune the lowest value baserunners; Acuna, Peters, and Vargas most valuable.
  7. Right, I can't see it I just think Chase thought he was closer than the 3B. IDK whether the 3B retreated back by design or if Chase was misreading it all the way
  8. Definitely wasn't a pitch that Romo should bunt but yeah that's a play where the runner often gets hung out to dry when the bunt doesn't get down. I think 3B was way off the base to start so Chase thought he couldn't get backpicked.
  9. I didn't think there was any way that Meidroth would score if the ball bounced off the wall normally.
  10. Mariners fans have got to be apoplectic
  11. Blooper 😭
  12. Struggling to hit Hancock's fastball you say?
  13. Nice, finally let Acuna hit and we're scoring runs!
  14. I'm treating the blocking call as unconfirmed for now. It's possible this is just on Will/replay assistant for not challenging.
  15. Umpires spot the Mariners a run.
  16. Going from 1 out and bases empty to 0 out and man on 2B is a big difference.
  17. IDK if that was really the call, but he definitely didn't block in the slightest. Gave him a big lane and it's the lane he was both going towards and would have asked for.
  18. Guess we're not going to challenge...
  19. As far as professional ABs go, Benny is currently at a career high in chase rate and it's not really trending down. He's also at a career low in zone contact but that has improved a lot in the past 2 or 3 weeks so that may not last.
  20. Could Benny do just well enough that you could get another team to take on any portion of his salary?
  21. Benny crushes in the game-tying ribby
  22. Not sure why they have him shifted to pull. Maybe the data contradicts my intuition.
  23. Burke averaging 20" induced vertical break on his 4-seam today which is just stupendous and even better than his already-great norm. That will tend to induce whiffs. Part of the T-Mobile effect is that a mixture of the prevailing wind blowing in from center and the overall environmental conditions makes most pitchers' pitches move better.
  24. Nice pitching!
  25. Not exactly making the Mariners earn it here
