  1. The thing that always puzzled me about Nate is why he never throws his curveball. Scouts had raved about how good his curveball was, but he ditched it for a slider when he came up to the Sox. He has a great changeup too, but has abandoned that because he struggles locating it.
  2. Add another hard hit ball to the list of those that didn't fall tonight
  3. This hasn't exactly been the perfect game, but let's not let slide the fact that we have been beaten by a damn good pitcher to this point.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:50 PM) It should be all year, as you don't go into this season with this stupid plan they had if you're not willing to live with his struggles. Have to be encouraged that Phegley has done well, though. Good organizations can have guys that struggle when there is a hot minor leaguer right behind him
  5. What's that? A slider strike from Jones?
  6. I think the Sox are happy to give him time to struggle at the plate, but he is really pushing his luck with his defense. It'll have to be Phegley though, because Gimenez has been even worse defensively
  7. Our catching tandem can't have played any worse defense this year than they have.
  8. Pretty clear that Robin was slow to replace Omo because he didn't love the replacement either
  9. I still think Omogrosso has a place on this team. But yeah, he has to be protected a bit. Robin is trying to get a two-day break for a taxed back end of bullpen so without a lead, the only guys available are Omo, Veal, and Jones
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:39 PM) Haha, Veal is only person warming up. Does Ventura know the score? Jones has been up
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:38 PM) They were saying he was that high last season Ha. Complications on the flight to Chicago subtracted four mph
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:35 PM) Remember when people said Omogrosso threw 99 mph in the minors? Hasn't he had several major arm surgeries?
  13. f*** with the seeing-eye grounders
  14. Bucholz has his arm wrapped up like he's trying to keep it warm
  15. We've had absolutely no luck tonight on hard hit balls
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) He's gotten away with some massive meatballs the last 3 innings. The benefits of having awesome stuff
  17. Balls haven't really been flying the past two nights, short of the last inning of last night's game
  18. Missed a big mistake 0-2
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:22 PM) Omogrosso not fooling anyone. He doesn't really have any plus pitches. Big batter in this game here for him. Only one of those balls was hit hard plus Ellsbury's was solid but just a seeing-eye single
  20. Good alignment by the D there
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) Apparently, RV has more confidence in Omogrosso at this point. Jones is rested, is he not? Jones was going to come in if we had a lead. He'll probably get next inning regardless, now
  22. Good job of ADA of knocking the ball down
  23. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 22, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) Fastball/change is the same delivery. That slider puts that torque on the arm. He doesn't want to throw it. Elbow. He almost certainly screwballs his changeup like a lot of guys do, considering its movement, but yeah. If something is hurting, probably elbow. If just general exertion is the issue, then he might be happy to just let off the gas on his changeups and achieve the desired effect
  24. Great play by ADA
