QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 05:44 PM) Hey Jake...curious as to what your thoughts may be on Propel Zero? I think it tastes good Doesn't have anything bad for you in it, but I also wouldn't go in expecting any performance benefits. You'll be hydrated a little better but it is not an electrolyte drink -- as a calorie free beverage it should be an excellent way to feel like you're getting something tastier than water without the "guilt" of drinking a sugary beverage. It makes sense as a non-activity compliment to the Gatorade line if one was to live the company's ideal of consuming their products in every applicable setting. There are small amounts of vitamins, but the forms of those are not stated and the amounts aren't particularly high anyways. Basically, if this drink is making or breaking your daily vitamin intake there is a problem This is akin to drinking a diet, non-caffeinated soda without the carbonation that can turn some people off. So? Drink as your heart desires and enjoy the yumminess.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) He averaged 2 more mpg, but with both Noah and Boozer actually being healthy for the full season, it seems like a stretch to say that he got longer stretches/more important stretches than the year beforehand. The playoff run in particular leaves a bad taste in one's mouth
-
I felt like he seemed to regress because we got to see him out on the floor for longer stretches several more times than we were used to, in more important times than we used to.
-
This team will go the way of Paul Konerko.

Carbohydrates undoubtedly improve workouts. Electrolytes are excellent and while you may not always need them, there's really no such thing as too much. B vitamins have very poor oral bioavailability (ever heard of B12 injections?) but almost nobody that eats meat has a deficiency. I don't know that folks should be drinking Gatorade just casually throughout the day and simple sugars aren't necessarily the best choice in the pre/intra workout application...but they taste better and they work. My personal preference is to drink as few calories as possible but slamming a little packet of Gatorade Prime before a long basketball game doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.

This bandwagon is getting a lot less crowded

I felt like we overrated Omer. Omer is no freak athlete, he's a somewhat mobile 7 footer that was good at using up his 6 fouls. That is useful, but he's no God. A small downgrade defensively here doesn't make a big difference and Nazr is such a more complete player that you'd be much more comfortable having him play larger minutes in case of an injury to Noah.
-
I put "don't have a strong opinion either way." We can speculate either direction, but facts are hazy. He probably did something that he shouldn't have, but it also probably wasn't cut and dry. We just can't know so I'm not going to try to know. I assume KW got a feel for how the guy is perceived among the other players. Hopefully we can win and just forget the guy

I like Leyson, but I'm leaning Veal. Ideally they'll get Veal an inning tomorrow to see if that curveball was real life or just fantasy

I agree that especially in this situation that a bunch of people standing to return fire could have made s*** VERY crazy. I would have wanted a gun on me, though. I don't know if I would have fired it right away for these reasons (riot helmet, kevlar vest, smoke in the air, darkness) but if I could get that shot in the neck/mouth region I would have taken it, but it would have required extreme close range. There's really not a lot you can do to prevent things like this. It wouldn't make me mad if you start making places more secure, etc. but the main thing you can do is try to keep people happy, connected to society, etc. but it will always be someone's right to disconnect. People that have some kind of mental problem will always choose to disconnect to some extent and bad things will happen, unfortunately. I don't know if him believing that there would be concealed weapons among the patrons would have deterred him because he was never going to think logically. It falls in the category of something like a natural disaster. You can take cover, check the weather channel, etc. but you might just be unlucky and get hit. That is the human existence.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 05:44 PM) I guess because he is now a White Sox you want to ignore the witnesses. There was more than one, and it wasn't like they were trying to take a professional athlete down, they had no idea who he was. If people now want to look the other way with this idiot because he's now on your favorite team, I suggest you quit watching sports for a while. Its affecting your judgement. And one question, if this was just an isolated incident where really nothing happened, why have they been going to counseling for years over domestic violence? Guys that hit women are losers. Brett Myers is a loser. I'm not about to get a beer with the guy, but the facts are very blurry in that particular situation and it is not clear to me that he is simply a "wife beater." Until someone can make that more obvious I'm going to assume that he's a f***ed up guy that is trying to get better. He made it sound in his statement like they both may have had a drinking problem. I hope a reporter asks him and/or KW about it because I'm interested in what is said. Chicago fans are right to be skeptical

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 05:16 PM) OJ wasn't convicted of murder either. The Meyers case went exactly as most domestic abuse cases go. There is no excuse to hit your wife. I've had police try to convince my girlfriend that I hit her for no particular reason before so the "she was swollen at the time but didn't bruise" thing didn't fly with me. The description they gave of both being too drunk makes me wonder if it is as clean-cut as people would like it to see. I've seen a woman drunkenly batter a man physically and verbally and to think he won't retaliate in kind when super drunk is not as unreasonable as simple "wife-beater." But then again, both of us are speculating, aren't we? You're just eager to to pass judgment when the guy probably just got too rough while drunkenly arguing with his girl. He almost certainly made a bad mistake, but I can't be sure that it's as bad or simple as described and I don't think it is fair to convict the non-convicted in this case.
-
I've heard all the reports and I don't know what to believe. Nobody was ever convicted is all I know. I'll let the man play baseball and I assume KW asked around the clubhouse to see what kind of teammate he is.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 04:44 PM) i mean... is it anything other than sugar and water? gatorade tends to make crap products, but i haven't tried the prime before. It's a carb product, yes. I wouldn't advocate supplemental carbs for anyone except elite athletes or those on carb cycling diets. Food carbs = good if you want fuel though I'm just not big on wasting carbs on things that don't provide any satiety.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) That's surprising to me. Not that its a big loss. Who is going to be the long man? Might need one tomorrow. It was a no-brainer with Gavin coming up and the fact we burned him today. The better question is who goes when Gavin is activated. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) Santiago would be my guess. Bingo

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 04:29 PM) It's hard to tell how Sale was today without being able to see. Just a bad outing our was his stuff diminished... Any indication he is wearing down? One stupid pitch to Boesch. The rest was good, he was in control beyond that.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) Boy when the Sox get in these funks they look like the worst team in baseball. Up and down up and down. Losing streaks suck. Every team has stretches like this. The better fans realize that their team doesn't suck.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 04:13 PM) You fix what you can and upgrading offensively in left and/or second should not be impossible. There's no f***ing way you're going to find someone that drives in more runs than Dayan, let it rest.
-
I'm happy we at least knocked Porcello out.
-
The better question is how much baseball have we watched to not understand the ol' Hawkeroo's adage..."it's not who you play, it's when you play 'em" The White Sox are the team to play right now because several hitters are slumping and we've had all kinds of injuries to pitchers. Let guys even out a little bit, play at home some, see what happens.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 03:40 PM) I honestly have no idea what KW should do right now. The offense needs help but there's no one you flat out bench. I say go with what we have right now. Agreed. We have several players in slumps (some big, some small) QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) Guess what guys: It's July 21st. Even if we fall out of place, we could be right back in 1st tomorrow. Oh, and you know what else? We fell out of first place once already this season and we got it back shortly after. Hell, this game isn't over anyway either. This. We didn't get here by fluke.

This is the day Soxtalk commits suicide
-
I was explaining Sale's pitching style to someone the other day, I mentioned that he throws a lot of really hittable pitches down the middle that typically get missed this one didn't
-
lol @ Youk's throw not sorry to have missed Soxtalk's reaction when we gave up the lead
-
I don't know if enough people will know about it.
