Steve Stone NOT leaving
Hawk brings far more fans to the White Sox than he pushes away. Anyone heard of Harry Caray? Similar appeal. Anyway, I'd be happy about this. Steve isn't a bad broadcaster, but he and Hawk have zero chemistry. Two big egos in that booth. Bringing DJ back would be okay, Wimpy would be great. I think we vastly overrate Stone by the way, he frequently does things like call pitches incorrectly and he has his own annoying sayings. The ideal partner for the Hawk will be someone that both keeps things light like Stone can when things go wrong but also someone that plays along when things go well like DJ did.

The Democrat Thread
MSLGBTTV!!! LOL Anyway, I don't think this campaign has been very dirty thus far. The last campaign was far dirtier IMO. I remember my house receivng robo-calls about Obama's non-birth certificate and the local Republican office (my parents are registered R's) calling to tell my family that Obama was a socialist Muslim non-citizen. That's not even an exaggeration. Because Mitt is a Mormon, the religion stuff has stayed out of this election. The non-citizen stuff is old as is the socialist stuff so there isn't as much sensationalizing to do about Obama personally. Mitt has been painted as rich. Woo.

OBAMA/TRUMPCARE MEGATHREAD
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 08:53 AM) We don't have a legitimate democracy. We have a two party bastardization of a democracy. The illusion is we have choice. I understand it's just my opinion, but when it comes to choice...we don't have any. It is and always has been a republic. Democracy doesn't work and I'm glad we don't have it. The so-called "spread of our democracy" pisses me off so much because that's not what we have. We have a republic that grants full voting rights to its citizens (unless they don't have the means or know-how to get a photo ID).

Hmm...imagine if we had a system in which no one profited from our poor health

Worst collapse in franchise history?
On the bright side, soon I'll be able to use the 7-10pm block to do homework

Worst collapse in franchise history?
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) Yep, exactly. 2006 seemed like a bigger collapse to me, as that team seemed significantly more talented and was the best Sox team I had ever seen during the first half of the season. Several amazing individual offensive performances on that club. We still won 90 games, too. Loaded AL Central

The Turning Point
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:31 PM) Games that still pain me? Quintana in LA. That was an example of a managing decision that irritated me. I still think Robin is excellent, though

Worst collapse in franchise history?
If it is, it is simply because we haven't had very many division leads. Losing a lead that was hardly larger than 3 games at any point in time isn't that epic of a collapse, especially given how close we were to .500 the entire time

It's Rally Crede time, dammit
The problem is that too many naysayers did not change avi

The Turning Point

Well, at least most of Soxtalk is happy. They predict bad play all season and all game and they finally get it!

I realize how futile the ra-ra stuff is in baseball, but I'd be interested to see if someone tries it

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:14 PM) Even Stone said that Wise is bad bunting for a sacrifice. Wise is also far and away our fastest runner, yet he decided to use Danks instead. HA! That's a fun way to interpret that conversation. That was "sometimes guys that bunt for a hit well are not good sacrifice bunters, we'll see if Wise falls into that category since he looked like s*** bunting the first pitch"

Tough luck Sox continue to pound balls to outfielders

We have some excellent arm chair quarterbacking tonight because I don't see these managerial moves as anything but what would seem obvious at the time. You pinch run a guy that you don't want to hit and you pinch hit your best pinch hitter who has had several bunt singles in our uniform to lay down a bunt. If he fails to do that, you know that he knows how to hit his way out of a paper bag.

QUOTE (RudyLawRules @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:10 PM) This. He has no plan or brains when he gets to the plate. We have some really dumb players. Hard for me to perceive that as a dumb play, it's not always easy to see what the baserunner is doing at first base when you're trying to watch the pitcher

Hell of a technicality there Didn't he touch it twice and they ruled that both were attempts at third base?

Did anyone see him miss the bag? I'm surprised we didn't get a replay.
