Kenny will win exec of the year if he adds a legit starting pitcher without significant harm to the MLB roster. If he gets a reliever too, then just wow. Might as well nab Chase Utley while you're at it.

Looking at his numbers, I can see why his value wouldn't be sky high. Which guy do you get? The CYA level guy from last year, the barely serviceable guy from th year before, or the Gavin Floyd-esque guy from the years previous? Depending on the way those numbers go, that contract could end up not being so great.

So now Felix Hernandez is a $30M/year pitcher. Say what you want about the fairness of the contract, but very few teams can stand to simply add that much to their payroll for any reason.

A good GM knows when to hang up the phone.

I'd rather pay less for Garza or someone else that doesnt get picked up by the top teams due to the GM's initial high asking price.

You trade Reed away assuming he's not one of VERY few closers that are good enough to keep that role for 6 years. Sans a WS win, you'd feel bad about him actually closing that long for them if he did. This mentally weak stuff wouldn't be said about Zack if he didnt have a clinical condition. Gavin Floyd isn't mentally weak either, he's literally unflappable out there. He's just inconsistent. Occasional bad pitching =/= mental weakness

I would give up Reed, but that's about the max. I don't value closers or relievers that highly.

I'd give up a lot for Felix. A lot. That would be such a KW move

1. It's very possible that Jose Quintana outperforms Zach Greinke the rest of this season. He has already outperformed him thus far. 2. Trading Gio Gonzalez, a minor leaguer, for Nick Swisher who was under contract is completely different than this. Nick was an accomplished MLB player and remains so. One has to wonder if the reason he had the one bad year in his career while here is because of the manager and/or coaches. It was a fair trade especially when you consider that Gio was not yet a major leaguer. Jose Quintana has had a run of starts that most major leaguers never get -- the player and contract we'd get in return is eons different as well and IMO is a far riskier trade than the Swisher deal. The Swisher deal should have had minimal risk but apparently he and Ozzie didn't mesh so he had to be an All-Star somewhere else.

It wouldn't shock me if KW made that comment about Ichiro just to f*** with everybody.

That sellout crowd went apes*** when Dunn went deep, it was awesome. Had to feel great to be in the good graces like that. We keep selling out and that whole home field advantage thing might come true.
