  1. This one looks ova.
  2. That flagrant call is just f***ing heinous. That's terrible.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) CoJack with 3 homers! Please oh please play third base competently.
  4. For how talented Westbrook is, it seems like you can always count on him to make a key mistake. Maybe he ought to be a two guard.
  5. Thanks Quin for coming by TalkBulls I think this one looks like a win for Miami unless something changes quickly, which does tend to happen in the NBA
  6. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) I don't know what that quote has to do with your sentence that followed. My thoughts exactly

Conor Jackson = en fuego If only he could defend third base
  8. No one considers the fact that perhaps Chris's arm may have been bothering him, leaving our hands tied as to when we could start Stewart? He's been a relief pitcher and hasn't thrown more than 3 innings all year. It shouldn't have been surprising to see him fall apart in the fourth and fifth innings. It's hard to switch to the bullpen and takes time, physically, to be ready to start. We had to take a chance because we just didn't have a fresh bullpen and I'm guessing Chris forced our hand to get extra time off. It was still a winnable ballgame when he left the game, be mad at the bullpen that we got blown out.
  9. I think Ayala was thinking 7 digits.
  10. Basically we just need to do something to convince some of the awesome posters from this thread to migrate over. To me, the fact that those posters may be at TalkBulls and the chance that I can navigate topics in separate threads was tantalizing enough for me.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) Then who plays CF & leads off this season? Jared Mitchell isn't ready. No thanks to Lillibridge. I'm not saying that I'm for it, I'm saying he's certainly a trade asset. Whether or not we want to trade him is a different story altogether.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) forum growth should be organic, not forced edit: have one big site called ChicagoSportsTalk or something, capture SoxTalk, TalkBulls, TalkBears, etc. all under one big umbrella of subforums instead of a bunch of loosely-connected sites. oh and implement tapatalk. This was more or less suggested but was found to require too much programming prowess/money and could possibly negate the popularity that Soxtalk has.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) That really is the problem, most of us make a choice to post here. The only way another site will get off the ground is if you have dedicated posters who are volume posting, and not just about the Bulls. Since, I am not going to repost the same information on another site (off topic stuff), it means that the other site is just a basketball site. If its just going to be a Bulls site with predominately the same posters as Soxtalk, it may as well be a sub-forum of this site. This thread had 8k posts from start to finish, during that time Id guess that Soxtalk had 100k posts. Just going to need a bunch of people who are solely dedicated to talkbulls to get it off the ground, because Im not sure 8,000 posts is enough material over a year to keep people interested. It is only 20 posts a day. I think it would foster more discussion if you didn't have this big scary catch-all for the entire sport. I'm not exactly in charge, but it wouldn't shock me if Soxtalk does something to discourage/end NBA discussion on this board to at least get everyone to try out TalkBulls
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Congrats Mr. Moderator. Now spam your friends and recruit! Let the bans and power mongering rain down on you all
  15. If anyone is interested... NBA Finals Discussion: http://www.talkbulls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3422 Bulls offseason discussion: http://www.talkbulls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3419 and other good stuff about to happen on TalkBulls
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 08:00 AM) Commit a felony and go to prison. Yes, then you can imagine all of Soxtalk is paying for your training!
  17. I'm in. I really enjoy the basketball discussion from Soxtalk members so I anticipate spending a good deal of time there. Hopefully we can move the Soxtalk NBA discussion all over to that board. I'd consider closing the NBA thread here even, at least once the Finals are over. I can help moderate or whatever you need, but I'll participate enthusiastically regardless.
  18. Here's a player that hasn't been mentioned that may have more value than almost anyone we're talking about -- Alejandro de Aza. He could easily be a big piece of a deal that brings a David Wright type player in. We may regret letting him go, or we may get to see Jared Mitchell roam center field for years and forget about it.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) I think we do, I'm just not sure we want to give them up. If we pay top dollar (figuratively speaking, I mean paying in players) for someone, we are leaving this system with seemingly nothing. I'm not sure whether I'm comfortable with that. However, when we get guys like Jose Quintana, Nate Jones, Alejandro de Aza contributing in a huge way...I almost wonder if our talent evaluation is a little better than we at Soxtalk think it is.
  20. I still don't understand what is hard to understand on here. We have a high dollar payroll and it is hard to take it from high dollar to top dollar without having a lot of people at the games. Kenny isn't b****ing that we are poor, he's saying that if you want to come to him and b**** about how we haven't brought in any additional big dollar players (or why we didn't resign a player like Mark Buehrle), look at the attendance numbers. Of course in this is an implicit admission that he could have spent the current dollars better. But hey, you live and you learn. Had we just developed one more MLBish 3B or another starting pitcher (or just avoided injury/fantastic failure at this position) this team is almost without flaws.
  21. Call him up to the MLB to steal Quintana's "cinderella" thunder
  22. I'm extremely interested in how Conor Jackson is playing defense at 3B. He has a reputation as a terrible defender at both first and OF, if he's somehow improved and can play a viable 3B that could make him immensely valuable to us. The guy has swung the bat pretty well in the MLB before. Not great for a 1B, but certainly okay for a 3B
  23. We tinkered with the rotation to save Chris Sale's arm. How is this hard to understand? It was a short term loss, long term gain decision.
  24. If there's a Thornton for Youk deal, we better get more than Youk in return. There was a point in the season where straight up seemed fair, but Youk has ruined his own value at this point.
  25. I don't think Bynum would work out here. Big egos + laziness + Thibodeau = explosion I don't think Bulls fan understand how valuable Joakim Noah is. Guys that big, that work that hard, play defense like that, score a few points, are not that easy to find. This is why almost every team has some 7 foot guy that can hardly play basketball on their bench.
