  1. They're just platooning....3 lefties in a row = 3 starts for the right-handed half of the platoon. I'm not getting stressed out about this yet.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) Take a look at Edwin Jackson's numbers with the Sox and tell me he was anything but very good. 11-9, 3.66 ERA, 30 starts, 196.2 IP, 207 H, 16 HR, 57 BB, 174 K, ERA+ 114 He did pretty damn good with us, but no one seems to remember. I approve of this post.
  3. Also, someone tell me why I should sell the farm for an OF that has 1000 PA, mediocre power, run production, batting average, etc. that also is a below average fielder according to UZR?
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) The enigmatic E-Jax is arguably the best starting pitcher on the market. If all you get is a B-prospect and a decent reliever (a soon-to-be 34-year-old one at that), then that is a major fail. I would rather have pressed on with E-Jax trying to win the division. It will all come down to the prospects we are getting back, but I will assume they will nothing like when KW traded Ray Durham for f***ing Jon Adkins. I don't think he has all that much value. Not as much as we think. FA next year and I don't think teams in the pennant race expect him to perform with the pressure on. People will pay money for a guy like Edwin, but not in players. Kenny didn't just make this trade with the first caller, he knows what Edwin's value is.
  5. This just isn't a bad deal. Get rid of enigmatic EJax for a good righty reliever who is cheap for two years. Dump what is left of Teahen's contract and get a shot in the dark with a B prospect.
  6. We can trade a starter without really hurting the big league team. Trading Teahen is not a big deal either. Trading another player off the big league team without getting a big leaguer in return will suggest firesale, which is ballsy when it is this close.
  7. You guys probably won't believe this, but Dunn when batting .180 still has a big presence in the lineup to an opposing pitcher. When he comes to the plate pitchers are still focusing in harder to remember scouting reports and not make a mistake to him. Adam Dunn is a big man and a big name and while the numbers might not bear it out, there's something to be said about a big bopping 3/4 hitter that has been one of the best power hitters around for that past 8-10 years. Pitchers remember that, none of them want to be the one to help him bust out of the slump. They all would rather see a hot-hitting AJ or whoever else.
  8. Honestly, the biggest snub may be AJ. There is no competition at that position.
  9. JUANEE. I probably hated him least, but can't say any of that I told you so s***. I really love watching a guy that plays with his style when he's on. Clutch singles and the occasional triple.
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 08:36 AM) Dunn hasn't played left field since 2009. I think we should throw him in CF, just to f*** with him. Makes sense. It's the easiest position, that's why we played a 50 year old Griffey there.
  11. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:32 AM) Is that a reflection of the coaching staff? No. Not at this level. The coaching staff will try to help, but players are expected to know how to play when they're at this level. With a guy like Alexei the coaches are expected to help, and they have.
  12. Can someone explain what happened to out of towners?
  13. My older brother lives in Superior, will probably be in his employer's suite.
  14. Livan Hernandez remaining an effective pitcher this long is amazing. Good for him, really.
  15. If Danks is out for long, will the reliever we bring up within the next few days be replaced by Viciedo after the bullpen is rested/his arb date passes?
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 10:30 PM) C'mon, Rios. No PR'ers for Dunn at 2B. Use Edwin Jackson to PR. C'mon AJ. Just a nice and easy swing with elevation. Racist.
  17. Ridiculous. AJ is wrong to do what he did. Doesn't mean Peavy shouldn't have come out, and he was clearly going to. Anyone that has actually played baseball at a high level knows that that is not how you act to your teammates, or anyone really. AJ is not the coach. If the coaches are interested in his opinion, they will get it. It was a dick move. Judging from the way he responded to Garfien, he probably conceded that to Jake. Peavy must have had the worst 5+ inning, 3 run win ever judging by you guys. It was an okay start. It's no big deal, it doesn't make him a crybaby or not an ace or anything. It was just a game in which he pitched okay and we won. Chill out.
  18. Look at Ozzie's father's day tweets. I have no idea what the hell he is trying to say.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Extra bases the other way for Brent. That'll shut people up about his slugging. No it won't.
  20. Why not put Dayan in LF? CQ has been playing a good RF (check his UZR) and seems to have responded poorly to being moved around in the past. Dayan's growing pains may be hidden better in LF, not to mention he doesn't have years playing any particular position.
