  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) With 2 strikes though, that was a nasty hook. Verlander's going to get the benefit of the doubt on that kind of thing. That thing was just sick. I'm not upset about the call, and it would have been damn tough for anyone to hit.
  2. I don't know how any lefty would ever hit Verlander.
  3. The mark of a good pitcher is when his bad innings are scoreless.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) Cabrera hasn't looked comfortable today. Think he might have been out last night? Is there any doubt about that? He must be tickled s***less when he sees a city like Chicago on the schedule.
  5. Cabrera hasn't done much positive tonight.
  6. Judging by that 98 mph fastball, Sale is going to have to battle that "my stuff feels too good" feeling tonight.
  7. My Dad makes a good point. If you batted the pitcher instead of Rios, at least the pitcher will make one out at a time by bunting or k'ing.
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) I predict DP for RIOS. f*** you But really.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) That's the amazing thing...he doesn't need to have any confidence in it, he just needs to throw it and not have it go to the backstop, just to change the batter's velocity calibration. A batter can adjust from 95 to 88, but if you reset him by throwing a pitch in the dirt at 79, suddenly his brain loses the speed calibration. Now a good changeup won't be that slow, really. It shouldn't be hard for him to pick up a slower curveball, though. And the changeup would be very effective just based on the movement/spin mirroring his fastball.
  10. Verlander = orgasmic changeup tonight
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) Looked like the usual slider to me. I only saw the swing and very last part of the pitch. I've seen him throw 5-10 good changeups total since he was a White Sox, though. Must just be a pitch he doesn't have any confidence in except for some particular situation
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) I still can't believe Jackson's never developed something other than the fastball/slider. Even if he never ever throws a changeup/curveball for a strike, just having something at 80 mph would make his 88 slider and 93 fastball so much more effective by speeding them up to the batter after they take the pitch. Was that a changeup he threw for strike three?
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:04 PM) Replace the s***ter with baths and that's me. It's almost like blumpkins....
  14. Wow. Great outing by Edwin, considering.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) Me and Baseball America and baths = quality time There are some things you should just keep to yourself...
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 07:52 PM) I give Juan full permission to get caught stealing here. I agree, spin the wheels.
  17. Pretty damn tough to hit a sick 2-0 changeup like that. Here comes two more I assume.
  18. I'd put Jackson out there next inning, see how many outs you can get before he gets to 120-125 pitches/puts a man on.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) Haha, yeah right...someone on the Sox getting benched due to lack of hustle? You know the management wants to bench him, at least until Lilly fails. This can help alleviate some of the perceived pressure they may feel to play him.
