  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) The most popular guy is the .338 career April hitter useless splits are useless
  2. I'm all for solving the Rios problem, but let's not freak out over everything that goes wrong in the first game as if that's a valid sample size
  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) He should face RHP and play for either Rios or Viciedo. lol
  4. I haven't seen his 2 seamer since I was able to a handful of times last fall. He had some MacDougal-esque movement a handful of times with that thing. I'd like to see him starting in AAA and give him more time to put things together. Tweaking that 2 seamer could be literally all he has to do to find moderate success.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 07:49 PM) Dude, he's a 25 year old who the Blue Jays bounced back and forth between being a starter and a MLB pitcher, and the Sox have had him for less than 12 months. Going into his 25 year old season, the Phillies had given up Gavin Floyd for nothing, Jon Garland had been putting up ERA's close to 5 despite having 3 full MLB seasons under his belt, Matt Thornton was 2 years away from ever seeing the big leagues, Brandon McCarthy was throwing the first 2 seam fastball of his career, etc. I don't have anything else to add. This guy has what is IMO the best pitch in baseball -- a fast two seamer. Let him develop some more, let's see what happens.
  6. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) It's amazing how working out makes you feel, I haven't worked out this much in a longgg time but I feel so much better and I sleep much better too. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 11:47 PM) Ditto. I feel more energized and motivated throughout the day and I sleep better. I've also noticed (and this may be a coincidence) but I'm remembering my dreams WAY more now than I was in the past. Many types of exercise are surmised to encourage better GH release, which would result in deeper sleep/more dreaming
  7. And thus begins a horrifying trend of posters being attached to fringey minor league players. My lone AAP was Bobby Jenks and I'm not sure if I want to break my hot streak
  8. Sure you'd love to have had Groce talking to these kids since grade school, but kids are fickle. They love the new flavor of the month. You can't count on high school kids for s*** so you sure as hell might sweep them off their feet with a strong, late recruiting pitch. Let's get 'em Groce!
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) slap in the face to Gore....
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) At what point do you chalk up your disappointment to the fact you have unrealistic expectations? ^^^ The really good sounding coaches aren't in hiding so that you can't happen to think of them. What's out there is out there. Would it make the MAC haters feel better if we pretend this guy didn't coach at Ohio? Let's just say he was a highly successful lead recruiter at a top program.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 09:56 AM) But the problem, of course, is that we're stuck with that futureless Rios and almost $40 million on the books for two more years. As a corner OFer, he's even more worthless to another organization...if playing him in CF will convince another team to not force us to include his entire contract in subsidy, that could save us $10-15 million going forward. How confident are we that DeAza will still be the starting CF on Opening Day, 2013? Trying to give value to the valueless Rios is just dumb at this point. He should be thanking his lucky stars he gets to bat at all, I'm not going to screw over a center field prospect to put a non-CF in front of him. Chances are Rios just isn't going to gain value, so we aren't going to hold back CF prospects who may have huge value if they pan out. If not de Aza, there are several guys we can run out there who will play better D and if they hit, would suddenly be valuable pieces the organization. At this point, even a good year from Rios does not mean that he has much value. He's a White Sox until that contract ends, but that doesn't mean he needs to be in center or anywhere at all.
  12. de Aza in CF makes perfect sense. He's good at it and has worked himself up to a status where we believe he may be a long-term CF. The dumb thing would have been to play him in a corner while the futureless Rios roams CF.
  13. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) Johnson making a case for himself vs. Escobar! 2RBI single! Is he gonna play SS too?
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) Andy wilkins, hawk likes him QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) Don't know how many people are watching, but Hawk just spent 5 minutes singing the praises of Andy Wilkin. wish I had local TV at school
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) Beckham looked pretty mediocre in that AB. I do hope Dan Johnson makes the team, as I've always been a fan. If it comes down to Escobar v Johnson, I have to choose Escobar.
  16. If we want the logic that the new coach has to have "been there" before, then Stevens is probably as good as it gets with two Nat'l Championship appearances.
  17. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) Marion the Barbarian was probably my favourite NFL player of the last decade, when he was in his prime with the Cowboys he would run over and just stiff arm defenders with the best of them. Shows you how short the career of a Power Running Back in the NFL can be today though if that's all you have. I liked Marion but favorite player? lol, what made you like him so much?
