  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:33 PM) Humber had a great 1st half of the year last year. An ERA over 5 after the ASB raised some red flags. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:34 PM) He hasnt been able to do that for some time now. I'm all for benching him, but there's no replacement. He lucked out by having Robin trust him and show he could come back and hold them down a couple of innings tonight. He's even luckier that a guy like Axelrod is his only competition at the moment (this is due to Stewart and Santiago being in the bullpen, they were by far our best rotation depth last season). When the competition becomes Quintana, we've got something cooking. It's not for right now. Cooper is going to have to do a little coaching with these right handers and hopefully both can turn it around...but we may only need one to do so. Floyd certainly gets the nod if they keep having similar outings
  2. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:28 PM) He shouldnt get another. But I have a feeling he will. At this point I rather see Axelrod. You have to realize that Humber is extremely valuable to the White Sox if he can command his pitches at all. Humber has NOTHING has an outing like this where Axelrod will have everything working and have similar stat lines. Phil had a great year last year and had mystified many by not succeeding sooner. While we John is still hurt and there are no actual prospects in waiting to replace him I don't mind trying one more start to catch lightning in a bottle. It took some real mettle to settle down after that third inning.
  3. That 2 seamer had some wicked bite
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:24 PM) You think he deserves another start? Eh, I'm not sure if we could expect more than this kind of outing from Axelrod. He probably gets another. Still on the chopping block if we ever see a healthy Danks
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:24 PM) Do those of you who were calling for the Humber hook realize now that Robin made the right move? Four runs in three innings are not enough to pull your starter. I'm glad Robin didn't overreact. With a fresh bullpen I would have pulled him, but with the state of the pen you had to at least try to get more out of him -- it worked
  6. Pitch around Dunn to get to PK? Can't blame them if they do.
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:20 PM) Yeah he only gave up 4 runs and 9 hits Why does the hit total matter? I could also say he threw 80% scoreless innings. All that matters for these purposes is the run total and the inning total. He may walk away with a win, even
  8. After all that, not the worst of outings for Phil. Even Code Red had a good first inning
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 10:29 PM) Yes, I've seen plenty of managers that will pull their pitcher after allowing 8 hits in 3 innings (especially if they're one of the worst starters in baseball coming into the game). Some would, but our bullpen is in a bit of precarious state unfortunately...if Hector gets hit around we're completely f***ed
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) Dont give up on him right Jake? Can he play third?
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 10:26 PM) Pathetic bunt attempt 1/2, RBI
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 10:26 PM) I feel like this is what would happen with Axelrod coming up. Axelrod is the likely choice, I'd promote Simon Castro in the meantime too. Matt Zaleski doesn't need to be starting at any level
  13. wtf do you guys want from your long reliever? An ERA south of 5 is gravy unless you want to absolutely stockpile arms which either costs money or costs prospects valuable development time (which is what we're doing now) Humber should go to long relief, Zach Stewart goes down to AAA if you really wanna get crazy let him start
  14. I kind of want to see Simon Castro
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) What in the heck was that all about? Whatever, let's get him in. what was what about
  16. I REALLY like Phil Humber as a person and I wish I knew what was going on. It's very odd after all this that he suddenly loses his command. Unfortunately we have to think about just calling anybody up to start just to get a different look. I'd honestly be okay with Zach Stewart starting and only throwing 60 pitches or whatever his limit may be.
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) Time ballgame. Humbelievable. 7:10 pacific
  18. Okay AJ go talk to him and then Robin go talk to him. Don't let him see any more batters. Something is up
  19. Phil is just dejected right now. Someone needs to actually coach him.
  20. Novel thought, the changeup
  21. Very weird how Floyd and Humber both had outings where they had very good stuff and got beat and now are following it up with outings in which they don't have their good stuff at all. Really thought they were both on the cusp.
  22. Alright Phillip, 2 runs does not a bad outing make. Stop the bleeding.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) At least we know Tyler will start tomorrow and AJ will get a little time off here. AJ needs a rest. Agreed. His bat shouldn't cloud our judgment on how much rest he needs as a catcher.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) 5 straight fastballs to Abreu...mix it up AJ! Mark Parent calls pitches for Phil Humber as of his last start
