QUOTE(bulokis @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) 670 score updates is saying Davis will be optioned to charlotte and Widger will be the back up. I thought we are trading big Ben? Injury, yes?

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Oh gosh, yes. That's the stuff. Mmmmmmmmmm. I figured. It's awesome on pizza. Horray!

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) Tabasco is tastey. But I definitely prefer that hot sauce that they have in bottles in Mexican restaurants. Oh yum. My parents eat a lot of pizza and I have a bottle of that stuff at home so I can eat pizza (I'm not usually a big fan). Is this the one? If so, I use it on frozen pizza all the time. Cheers!!!

I'll throw Tabasco on frozen supermarket pizzas all the time. Yup.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) Antawn Randle-El, Ronald Curry :-) Randle-El wasn't the only QB gone receiver in the 02' draft.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Pearl Jam is the first thing that comes to mind whenever I hear the name Mookie Blaylock, as opposed to his superior basketball skills. I actually used to be a huge Pearl Jam fan (mostly of their non-commercial stuff, Eddie is a very soulful mang), but I rarely ever listen to them nowadays. I read like three of their books back in the day, so I know that Mookie heard about then using his name & objected to it being used, so they dropped it. They are some huge Seattle Supersonics fans (huge basketball fans in general). Alice In Chains is good stuff, especially the MTV Unplugged material from 1993. I don't think I've listened to it in about 10 years, though. Rightous. Do yourself the favor and give Alice another listen. Now that you're 10 year removed, you might dig a lot of the stuff found on "Jar of Flies" and if you are feeling really bold, "Dirt". This is one of those rare occasions I actually endorse a greatest hits album. The 2001 greatest hits album can be had for like $10 and I bet you'd dig it, especially if you were a Pearl Jam guy. Just make sure you are in a good mood before you take on "Dirt," that'll get ya down in a hurry.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) I got banned for busting Mark Liptak's (a.k.a. Lip Man 1) balls. Gottcha.

I remember that sig. So, this begs the question. What happened over at WSI Aidan?

The people have spoken. Look no further than the poll. -
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) I believe that was some early version of Pearl Jam Damnit. You got me. I was just coming back in here to correct the post. I Alice in Chains. What the hell was I thinking. :headshake :headshake

IIRC, Alice in Chains was originally going to call themselves the Mookie Blalocks. Darn tootin'.

He is one of the best pure athletes in the draft. Jason Campbell is another one of these ubber-athletes. That said, a second round selection of Jones is a reach. A first round selection is downright goofy. If a team falls in love with him (the way Fotop has ) you may see him go in the second round, but I think he is a third-fourth round fit. Some scouts question his hands; others question the impact he can have on an offense. I think he'll be a nice TE/WR hybrid that may or may not be a crucial piece of an offense. Can someone tell me the last ubber-athlete QB gone WR in the NFL? Yikes.

The folks at ESPN debunked this rumor. As of right now, it's not even being talked about. This is all moot...fun, but all moot.

3-30 Game Thread Sox vs D-Bags

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Couldn't agree with you more. People around here act like DJ is the second coming of Joe Carter. DJ is very good at what he does. I, too, enjoy listening to the fiesty one. He has a lot of baseball smarts and a pleasant voice. I never understood the distaste towards Darrin. -

3-30 Game Thread Sox vs D-Bags

For those of you not actually watching the game, the Sox have done this damage off Vazquez, not some scrub on the D-Back roster. -
For those of you wondering, here's Joey Ballgame.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) In a bizzare way I was thinking that. Doesn't Kenny like his potential? Or maybe that was another GM.. Minor League Totals: 6 Seasons .296 AVG, .348 OBP, .413 SLG, 761 OPS Fielding 2004- 1.000 PCT, 3.97 RF Salary $301,000

The Cowboys are on the clock

It's a no-brainer. Merriman. -
Remember, Kenny did not, and I repeat, not, have his sights set on a catcher this off-season. Kenny said they felt very comfortable with a catching tandum of Davis and Burke and felt an upgrade, although needed, was not as necessary as some of the other gaping holes that needed mending. Pierzynski kinda fell into the Sox lap this winter. No one saw it coming, it just kinda happened. Kenny brought in all these catchers to camp to see what they could do. Widger, after having spent one full year out of baseball, came in and impressed. From what I've seen, he seems to be a quality receiver and knows his position. I don't think you will get any offensive production from him, but it's really not a priority. Face it, Burke is a 33-year-old journeyman. He hasn't been up in the big leagues for a reason. You can also scratch him as a viable option at 3B in a backup roll...he's a butcher with the glove over there. Does a move need to be made? No. Personally, I think a Pierzynski-Davis tandum is one of the better catching tandums in the entire AL. I really see no need for a trade. At $1M Davis isn't going to bury the club financially. If Kenny thinks he can can a club willing to overpay for Davis, I think he'll go for it. If not, he'll probably stick with Ben. I'm just worried Pierzynski goes down with an injury in the first month of the season and we have to write Widger in an everyday setting. I'd feel much more comfortable putting Gentle Ben in an everyday setting than Widger.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Plus they are a year ahead in this guys learning curve. McCarthy runs a very crisp offense. There would be no grooming Rivers; the starting job is as good as his. Although McCarthy runs a different system than Cam Cameron, it won't be a drastic change. Make no mistake about it, Rivers is a very talented QB and I think it would be in the best interests of the Niners to make this trade and bring over the new face of the organization. Teams like Green Bay and Arizona must be loving this rumor as guys like Smith and Frye will now have a better chance of falling further in the first round.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) If it is a collectively bargined item, it doesn't matter. Ahhh, I see. Works for me. -
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 29, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) That may just force an upward movement, taking Pedro Lopez up to Charlotte. Pedro needs a lot of work. I know you've probably seen more of young Pedro than I have, but he still looks awfully rough around the edges. Last time I heard, Kenny and co. are very high on this kid, but from what I've seen, he is nowhere near AAA ready.
