  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) Skipping class to watch? YEEEEEEEEES. Slacker
  2. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) That is Ksate, the KU fans are the rich kansas city alumni. No. Toothless hicks and those Chicago-landers that couldn't get into UI. But, hey, if we accepted everyone, we wouldn't be the state's flagship university now would we?
  3. Not that I post anymore, but... LMFAO at Indiana, its fans, and the Indiana University basketball program. Time to reap what you sow. You deserve everything that is coming your way and more. Is there a more smarmy fanbase this side of the toothless hicks at Kansas? "Setting the program back for multiple years...YES!".
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 24, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) There was no chance in hell Michigan was ever going to pull Cissoko's offer, that was pondering. You are correct on ND however, but you have to be very picky and keep people away from other places when your coming off a 3-9 year and don't play in a conference, so that's understandable. Posturing. It's posturing, my NIU friend.
  5. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 11:38 AM) What's wrong with using the correct forum for the correct topics? Site traffic. Consistency. Convenience. Hell, I didn't even know the other forum existed until the previous thread was moved. This is the forum where I've made this thread in years past. It stays up for about two weeks with a bump or two and the league attracts 10+ members. There is also a pick'em thread in this forum? Is this the right place for such a thread? No harm, no foul. I'd just take it easy.
  6. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) It'll be here until Wednesday, ok? You guys are getting goofy with that nonsense.

  9. Couple of things... 1) Those not understanding the timing of this extension...surely, you jest. This is called buying low. This is economics 101 and it is certainly a White Sox hallmark. If believed that Ozzie was not the problem this year and that the White Sox can once again compete for the pennant under his guidance, the board was smart to lock up their man when he asking price was presumably at its lowest. 2) The short-sightedness is staggering. Anyone with at least a half-refined baseball acumen knows Ozzie Guillen was not the problem for the 2007 White Sox. Was he at his best? No. I'll admit it appeared at times that Guillen had his head a bit too far out in front of his skis...paling in comparison to Williams' performance. I don't think this season was due to a lack of trying OR a lack of proper managing--it was due to lack of talent and lack of execution. This is a fine move and a positive one for the organization.
  10. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) I'd love to see Aaron back roaming in CF, as long as his contract isn't outlandish. But if we have Rowand in CF, and a youngster like Sweeney or (god forbid) Owens, in one of the corners, then we need a high end guy in the other corner (like Ichiro, ideally). Ichiro-Rowand-Sweeney would look pretty good to me. I've been clamoring about that outfield configuration for two and a half months now--check the history, it's there. ...and sure enough, everyone comes back with, "What a terrible outfield. That lineup is worse than the current Sox outfield." ...and right on its heels, comes the always insightful, "There would be no power production from that outfield." Judging the potency of a lineup by the home run ball is a very dangerous and careless thing to do. I don't know how else to put it. It's been proven wrong time and time again. Also, for what it's worth, at the time Rowand was traded, a source very, very close to Aaron said the White Sox (specifically Kenny Williams) went out of their way to assure him they will do everything in their power to re-acquire him (as early as the 2006 trade deadline). I trust this source an awful lot; so, it appears there would still be some interest on the Sox's behalf. Personally, I hope he is brought back--he is a professional center-fielder, something this team currently does not have--to the tune of around $5-6M for three years...that is what it is going to take, for better or for worse.
  11. I don't know how anyone with at least a fifth grade education could find this dips*** funny. What a talentless hack.
  12. All I know is having Man Soo Lee for as many years as the Sox had certainlly helped them amongst the professional backup catcher ranks. It's going to pay dividens in the end.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) I GET IT Finally! I was getting nervous!
  14. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) damn, that much? What would be the qualification to become one? I assume you don't have to go to umpire school like for college and professional ball. I think you're a sharp poster, BS; so, I hope you know I'm yanking your chain. Seriously, if you have any questions, shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to help you out as best I can.
  15. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) Not to be disrespectful, but how much would usually make for each game? Shoot, I don't know. What would you say, Russ? Anywhere between $500-$1000 per game. It varies...you know, little-league by little-league.
  16. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) You seem to be implying that Iguchi should be signed so Fukodome or Ichiro will have friends, and the Japanese need their fellow countrymen for friends. Hmmm ... by this logic maybe Dye sucks this year because there are no other blacks on the team to be his friend. Boy, oh, boy. Give someone an inch and they take a mile. This is not a radical, new thought. In fact, that baseball team in Boston tried to do something like that with a middle-reliever and you will be able to see him pitch in this week's All-star game. ...I think that worked out ok, huh?
  17. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 03:35 PM) I didn't see the game yesterday, but lining up over the inside corner is known as working "the slot." You never line up on the middle of the plate, you don't want to be looking directly over the catcher. Of course with this the outside corner is harder to see than the inside corner, but that's how it goes. Mr. Krush, have you umped any Williamsport games yet? I gotta tell you, in the couple games I have worked so far, those kids you see on TV look like professional ballplayers in compairison. I realize these have been opening round preliminary baseball, but, the level of play is really quite poor...hopefully I'll get some talent in the later rounds.
  18. Dye and Jose Uribe, huh? Perhaps an evil-twin? Williams would fleece em' on that deal. Pull the trigger, Williams. It's called fact-checking and editing, people. I can't believe some of these people continue to receive paychecks.
  19. If you'll remember, when making some preliminary roster projections for the 2008 season, I predicted Iguchi will re-sign with the White Sox on the cheap after a disappointing 2007 campaign. Now, that is really starting to look like a possibility. Depending on what Williams does before the trade-deadline and during the off-season, I could easily see Iguchi brought back for $3M for 2 years, perhaps with a mutual option on a third. Naturally, this is all academic if Williams receives some nice offers before the deadline--then, it's simply a no-brainer to move him.
  20. As an IHSA umpire for four years now, I must commend him on his perseverance. It takes a special individual to make it to the major leagues. Umpiring will not be my future career--for me, it is a great chance to work outdoors and participate in some baseball and a nice supplemental summer income. However, for those who chose umpiring as their line of work, advancing past the minor league ranks is a major accomplishment in and of itself. Give him a pat on the back from a comrade in the trenches.
  21. ...the only thing the White Sox should extend with Jermaine Dye is his time on the trainer's table. Get him healthy, let him hit, then ship him off. Done.
  22. Glenn Foster commits to the Illini--yet another outstanding athlete at a defensive position...whom also happens to be teammates with Mr. Filer. Well done, Zooker.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) You might as well let Wasserman come up and see what happens. Maybe he'll stick but most likely he won't (still at this point no harm in trying). Hu is absolutely legit. I fell in love with this guy just watching him in today's game. Wow, he just knows how to play and has a very good mixture of tools. He's going to be the type of player that helps a team win for a long long time (to see him go opposite field and do the little things was just impressive). Of course I'm basing that on the one time I've seen him play but I've read other prognosticators who have said similar things. I would love him on the Sox but I highly doubt Jermaine Dye will fetch that (unless of course he mashes over the next couple of weeks). Ellsbury is a guy that is probably not an option for the Sox unless Garland or Javy are headed to Boston. Ellsbury is ridiculously fast and projects to be an above average defensive center fielder (poor arm though). He will not hit for much power but doesn't strike out much and has shown improving strike zone judgement. He could definitely be a fixture a top the order for the next 5-10 years, posting a .360 OBP or higher all while stealing 50+ bases (at least thats what the Red Sox or a team that acquires him will hope). I'd rather have Juan Uribe than Jack Wilson, but thats just me. If the Sox want to get rid of Uribe they need to find a way to get a legitimate SS prospect that is close to major league ready (whether thats Hu, Ronny Cedeno or if they somehow think Richar is gonna be able to play SS although I highly doubt that will be the case). Appreciate it, J. Thanks. You and I are on the same page for a lot of that. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 08:33 PM) You have to remember, the Dodgers have Furcal at SS for the moment, and he's in what the 2nd year of a 3 year deal IIRC. Hu was a name I brought up when Dye was 1st linked to the Dodgers. He's fantastically defensively by all reports, the only question about him coming into this season was his hitting, and I think he's answered those by hitting about .320 in AA this season, with an OPS around the the .900 mark. If there was one position prospect from the Dodgers that you would target that REALLY fits a need for this ballclub going forward, it's Hu. I'd offer Dye and a bullpen arm for say Kemp and Hu, and try to start the negotiations from there. Of course I'm surprised the White Sox are being linked with Kemp after the incident he had Razor Shines, and fathom said he would never play for this organzation. Yes, sir. That's my line of thinking as well. The Dodgers have Furcal for both this year and next and from all accounts, he is quite happy out there. If the Dodgers really feel they are in the hunt this year and feel a rejuvenated Jermaine Dye-veteran puts them over the hump, discussions should begin with Hu and go from there. Now, as for Kemp and Hu together...we may be going a bit too far. Nice intentions, but reel it in a little, A.
