  1. QUOTE(quickman @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) i am clearly dissapointed in you of all people. He lost me, TQ. I'm just awestruck. Clearly, there is another move in the wings, here, and I have no idea what direction Kenny is heading. Is he perfectly clear on what direction he is heading? I was always the first to salute Kenny and give him the benefit of the doubt--the man brought a World Championship to this city after 88 years--but, he truly lost an ardent supporter today. He flat-out cut off his nose to spite his face. -You lose bullpen depth in Luis Vizcaino. Remember bullpen depth? You know...one of the key components to that World Series Roster -You completely f***-up McCarthy's situation. That kid was absolutely ready for that fifth-starter's role this year and I can say that without a shaddow of a doubt. What the hell is going to happen there? Are you telling me you are going to stick Brandon in the bullpen for 2006, waiting for an injury? -It appears Jon Garland, a guy who would probably leave after this season, whom CAN BE REPLACED IN 2006 FREE AGENCT, is on his way out along with Chris Young, the Golden Boy and CF of the future. He lost me. He's going to have to earn this supporter--and his money, devotion, and time at the ballpark--back.
  2. I voted: terrible. I have absolutely no idea what Kenny has planned and it is scaring the hell out of me. He just cut off his nost to spite his face. This is a regression. I'm really, really quite disappointed.
  3. You had me...and you lost me. I'm nauseous. Hand to God: I'm actually nauseous. I'm off the wagon, Kenny. You now have to make me a believer. No support on this move.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Yeah, but if Angelo didn't think he could be a damn good PR for us in the future, he never would have used a 5th round pick on him. Comming out of Arizona, if he were strickly a possession reciever he would have gone in the 7th or undrafted. IIRC, that was a serious down-year in terms of the WR crop. Regardless, it was a poor pick. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. However, I do commend Angelo for fingering the guy he wants and using a pick to get him. GMs don't do that enough now-a-days. They tend to select based on far too many projections and don't go on their own "vibes." Anywho: he gone. ...and I just flat-out don't care.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) God damn, have you ever heard of hyperbole? Bobby Wade is a pathetic WR, the only reason we drafted him in the first place was for returning punts. Believe it or not, he was believed to be possession reciever. Ooops.
  6. But, but, but...one of the Fox broadcasters referred to him as being amongst the league's elite return-men. A) Do your f***ing research B ) He's not amongst the league's elite anything. This either signals Berlin being activated or the Bears making some sort of signing...both of which I could care less about.
  7. You know, the guy's parents knew their last name was Bradley, and they still named the kid Milton. That's just mean-spirited.
  8. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) my sentiments exactly. Is Vazquez that much better than any of the free agents out there after the '06 season? I don't think so. Stick with Garland and ride this season out with what we have. Worse comes to worse in 2007 our rotation will be: Buerhle, Garcia, Contreras/ Garland (KW will keep 1), McCarthy and Cotts. That is saying if KW CANT sign a free agent. Free agency? Oh, no, no. I meant Frankie Avalon.
  9. One humble request: Can someone please post the groundball-flyball ratios for both Garland and Vazquez. That is something that needs a serious looking-at.
  10. Not reading 19 pages, but, I gather most think Garland would be the guy to go in this alleged trade discussion and folks are arguing for or against it? Pretty fair assessment? Personally, I just can't see Williams trading Garland unless he absolutely feels he stands no chance of re-signing him after this season. That, or, perhaps he doesn't want to re-sign him after this season. As much as I like the idea of having Vazquez locked up in a Sox uniform for the next season or two, I'd hate to see Garland--who seems to be coming into his own--go. There's always FA, Kenny.
  11. Although the thought of a knuckle-baller in US Cellular Field scares the bejesus out of me, with the recent departure of some of our best organizational pitching prospects, and my selfish desire to just see a knuckler in a Sox uniform, I'm pulling like hell for Charlie.
  12. QUOTE(hi8is @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 04:59 AM) have to argue the point here guys.... as a fellow alcholic..... you must not understand ITS A GENETIC f***ING DISPOSITION its not like they, nor i... WANT to go out and drink the way we do.... its not like they, nor i are saying... HEY KIDS.... DRINK THE f*** UP!!!!! whats really happening is...... more like..... hey everyone, i have a problem that controls EVERY ASPECT OF MY LIFE.... and i try to keep it under wraps.... but you know what..... i cant do it all the time just yet.... so i understand i messed up, punish me.... im sorry... and ill keep trying to do better. just because someone has a serious personal and chemical dependancy problem dosent mean they should be bared from professional sports..... put away in jail for life..... shot in the f***ing head..... or exiled on an island..... people like me and ponson are people too..... and people deserive equal oppertunity..... and just for the record..... im not offended at all, just trying to illustrate a point. My thoughts are perfectly expressed by this week's South Park. Stan: Dad, you don't have a disease! Just stop drinking! Cancer is a disease! What an episode.
  13. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) My toilet tank exploded while I was SITTING on it about a month ago. Yea, that was a fun experience! (I'll post a pic tomorrow) That provided a much-needed giggle this evening. Thanks.
  14. You know what? f*** this guy. You have an opportunity to play professional baseball for a living, coming from virtually nothing, and you piss it all away with drinking problems. These guys don't belong in professional sports. I hope he doesn't catch on anywhere.
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) I may have heard wrong, but I think Villone is a Boras client? Ah, I see. Well, unless they would be interested in signing him to an extension, I don't see how that would affect things. Unless, Boras clients are THAT taboo, and, I don't think they are. I may be wrong.
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) Having a second LH in the pen is as important to force the other manager's strategy as it is for our own manager. Seeing as the White Sox were chasing Mike Myers tells us they want another lefty in the pen and I am very confident they'll land one. Yes, they won't break camp with only one lefty one the roster. It's just not going to happen. I'd be interested as to what Villone's asking price may be. Although the Fish gave up quite the prospect to land him at the trade-deadline, that might just be TS for them and may be willing to deal him for yet another young, inexpensive prospect type. If Kenny is serious about cutting ties with Harris, Gload, Perez, and/or Borchard in a few weeks, he may want to inquire about Villone. Harris could easily slide into 2B for the Marlins next year, giving them a serviceable, young, cheap 2B for a year or two, while they may be grooming others. If, by some grace of God, Kenny is able to land Villone, he will have had two consecutive Grade A off-seasons.
  17. Many Happy Returns! Happy Birthday, Big Guy!
  18. I just want to say, from a former-QBs standpoint, this second Bears drive is by far the best football I have seen Kyle Orton play all season. He has looked like a real quarterback. He's working through his progressions, finding the dump-off recievers, making short passes, throwing balls away, and calling a TO when he sees something he doesn't like. Well done, Kyle. This looks promising. Like I said, this is the best football I've seen him play.
  19. Absolutely not. That's just downright silly.
  20. One of the best around. Happy B-Day, Goldy!
  21. QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) I'm looking for opinions on the greatest Christmas CD's, old and new... Frank Sinatra's Christmas music is some of my favorite out there. The same can be said of Bing Crosby's and Dean Martin's. Um, if this is the place to suggest other music, Damian Marley's new cd is pretty outstanding. Very innovative and well done.
  22. QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) With that said, Borchard should be the 4th OF in my opinion this year. I hope he has turned the corner and gets a good long look in ST. He can be the switch-hitting bopper off the bench for those 1-run down no one on and 2-out rally starters in the 9th. If he strikes out, okay we take the loss but if he connects....brand new ball-game. He came in with way too many expectations so if he settles in as a 4th OF with no pressure, its almost the same as a change of scenery that is mentioned so many times. Give the guy a real shot with no pressure (kind of like Garland as the 5th starter...he really excelled with no pressure and then eventually came up big in pressure situations). Very well put. Couldn't have said it any better. He's an in-house option with some serious pop in that bat. His swing has a lot of holes in it, but, if he connects, as you've said, it's a brand new ballgame. I'm not saying he should be promised the position; I just want to see him get a square-deal in spring training. Supposedly, he's a great guy with an excellent work ethic, let's give him the shot.
  23. Jim, I'm with you on Jeff DaVannon. He'd be a nice little addition...nothing to write home about, but, he doesn't have to be. Truthfully, I want to see Joe Borchard given every opportunity to compete for that spot. I'm supporting the big guy and I think with a solid ST under his belt and a little incentive to stay with the big-leauge club, he might be able to start piecing the puzzle together. Borchard. DaVannon. I'm alright with either. He's got no minor-league options left, let's give him a solid crack at it.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) I've been trying to come up with some childish, insulting nicknames for some of the current players on the Sox. Do you think you can help me out? Maybe you can make one up for Vizcaino? Well played. Very funny. Mackowhackoff
