  1. If the Sox are looking to move Konerko for more position players and/or some arms for the 2005 roster, what would anyone think of trying to get Ryan Howard some every day playing time on the south side ... and ... what would it take to acquire him? Personally, I'd probably trade Contreras for Howard and another piece of the puzzle. I'm not sold on paying Contreras $6M to be in the #3 or #4 slot, so if the Sox could get Howard and his power at 1B to replace Konerko, the money freed in the Lee trade ($6M) a potential Konerko trade ($8M) and rid of Contreras' enigma ($6M), the Sox could sign a premiere SP and a premiere bat. Anyhoo, the second paragraph was thinking outloud. The main point is do you think the Sox should attempt to try to get Howard (and depending on what and whom the Phillies ask for in return)?
  2. Isn't Buehrle signed to the tune of $5.5 for '05, $7.0M for '06 and a $9.0 option for '07?
  3. If the Sox can swing Konerko's salary and Garland's "potential" in a trade of such suitors and magnitude, one would think KW would also squeeze out at least a decent prospect and/or another bullpen arm, and not just Burnett. Either way, hella good things to be done w/ all of that salary they would potentially have opened up.
  4. At least it's not Hinske and Batista on the White Sox w/ Lee ending up in Toronto. *shudder*
  5. Where do papers come up with their s***? Besides being a horrible trade, it is also inaccurate in the "falling out w/ Ozzie," as well as Lee's salary. Lee is slated to make $8M in 2005 and then he is a FA.
  6. Lee as a part of a package to Oakland for Hudson most likely.
  7. Lee is a FA after the 2005, no?
  8. YAS is right -- it couldn't hurt but to give it a shot. Plus, if you blow him off or whatnot, all that would accomplish is creating tension w/ your parents and then an awkward relationship between your parents and the friends of the guy they set you up with. Like you said, you're 22: you might like being single now, but in 15 minutes, that could change (no offense to the age). It's not like going out w/ the guy is an automatic "I've got to sleep w/ him." Go in w/ no expectations or grudges about being set up and attemp have some fun and make the best of it. Remember this cryptic message: when you're least looking for something is when you find it.
  9. If Pujols were 36, unproductive and overpaid like a vast majority of today's players, he'd be gone. Today's Pujols? Ha! While it shouldn't be an automatic escape from a contract -- afterall, as horrible as the contract is, the owner *did* agree to it, right? However, a more NFL-like ablity to cut players loose w/ minimal (ie: bonuses, incentives still to be paid) losses would be more beneficial to the MLB, as it is to the NFL.
  10. I'm pretty sure that any employee, in any line of work, caught getting a BJ from a hooker and in the papers about it, would be in a bit of trouble. Nothing 'obscure' about that. LOL
  11. Neagle busted with fly down, $40 short, a ugly prostitute and in a world of trouble. First, the Yankees are finding legals ways to void Giambi's contract with the entire "product not as advertised" ideal. Now, with Neagle's off-field problems again, the Rockies are looking to the standard paragraph 7 (1) of the uniform player's contract under Major League Baseball's basic agreement. [A club may terminate a contract if the player should "fail, refuse or neglect to conform his personal conduct to the standards of good citizenship and good sportsmanship."] to rid themselves of Neagle. A new trend for owners of ridding themselves of contracts?
  12. Yes, you're right. You've got it very tough from your beanbag chair there in Illinois. I'll remember to light a candle for ya. It'll be a-ok though. There's no place like home, there's no place like home.
  13. Jeeps in general or the Grand Cherokee specifically? I've never experienced a single problem in any area in the 4 years of ownership. *knocks on wood*
  14. One guy? There's your answer right there.... A view of his transmission has to be priceless.
  15. If unfunny and untrue are the words of the day, then this cartoon rocked!
  16. The H2's are crap, IMHO. It's the body frame of a Suburban. The H1 was by far the superior (and sadly, more expensive) Hummer.
  17. I don't follow on that at all. I had an '02 that I traded in and my wife drives an '04. You can easily get 200,000 miles on those engines w/o any major problems.
  18. It's just like you mentioned: completely badass. I've got every option possible with it and is the only vehicle I have driven after 8 hours in the air that doesn't seem like a POS to drive.
  19. Almost quite the opposite. If the contract has wording in there (and if the Yankees get by w/ it on the Giambi contract) that could leave open a massive gesture of being able to get out of a contract, regardless of length or size.
  20. Ah, ok. 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, w/ the Hemi, here.
