http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2922738 Gomez a Ranger. I still think they sign Nylander also. The Edmonton Oilers have traded captain Jason Smith and forward Joffrey Lupul to the Philadelphia Flyers for Joni Pitkanen, Geoff Sanderson and a third round draft pick in 2009.

Dodgers Interested in Dye?

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 02:34 AM) I continue to enjoy the constant ripping of the main cog in our wheel. I know you repeat that all teams tend to do well when their leadoff hitter is hitting well, Kalapse, but in an organization that has absolutely no prospect of a leadoff hitter whatsoever, one might think that the guy would be appreciated a bit more. He is not Rickey Henderson, I understand that, but one might think that someone who's success seems to correlate so much with the success of the team would have a few more backers. I, for one, don't take it as a coincidence that the White Sox offense has awoken somewhat since Scottie has returned to the lineup. I agree, then only thing I worry about is his health. -
QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) Kalapse, A lot of people here, including myself take what you say about the White Sox seriously. You really seem to know what is going on, you might not have a sorce, but you have a great baseball mind. Having said that, are you for the Sox resigning Mark at the proposed deal, or would you rather re-stock the farm by trading him? That was one of the funniest interviews I have seen by him in a long time. I dont know if he was using the company line or what, but when Mark said that he wants to stay here over St. Louis, that made me smile a little while. I really hope when I go Monday he has a new deal, either way, he will be getting a standing O from me, and hopefully otheres as well. I didnt see the interview, but if he said this its very intresting. Why would he say this, if something was not being hammered out. It would seem like he was burning a bridge by saying this.

QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) i know that was 100% sarcastic but seriously don't you think that having pods in the lineup does help this team score more runs? or would you say its merely a coincidence, honestly Yes! -

Jacque Jones to Floridaaaaa
That funky motion replied to palehose23's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
The Marlins have acquired Jacque Jones from the Cubs, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. No word yet on what the Marlins got back, but it won't be much. The Cubs are likely covering a large portion of the roughly $9 million Jones is owed through 2008. It's still a nice pickup for Florida. Jones isn't a great defender in center, but he can handle the position and he will start hitting. To pick up such a solid stopgap at what is almost surely very little cost is a nice feat for GM Larry Beinfest. Jun. 26 - 5:53 pm et -

Josh Fields and team's lack of clutch hits
That funky motion replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) His D has been just fine so far....why do people make it sound like it's been a major issue? I just feel position wise, he is not just there yet. Sometimes to far of the base or to far in. I know he does not now the players yet, and I'm sure he will be fine. -
Josh Fields and team's lack of clutch hits
That funky motion replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think he will be fine. It seems to me that his swing has shortened up a bit. Also a couple times he was 0 and 2 and got the count full or drew a walk. Its his D that need work. -
With Maroth going to the Cards you can scratch them off the list. At least for this year, no need for another lefty.
-
DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has traded lefthanded pitcher Mike Maroth to the St. Louis Cardinals for a player to be named later on or before September 15, 2007. Maroth started 13 games for the Tigers in 2007, compiling a 5-2 record and 5.06 ERA (78.1IP/44ER). Acquired by Detroit in a two-player deal with the Boston Red Sox on July 31, 1999, Maroth posted a 50-62 record and 4.81 ERA (880.0IP/470ER) in 147 games (143 starts) during his career with the Tigers. Additionally, prior to tonight's game in Atlanta, the Tigers have reinstated lefthanded pitcher Kenny Rogers from the 60-day disabled list.
