Make a wild or bold predicition for the 2008 Sox

Broadway will step up and be that 5th starter. -
QUOTE(SoxWS05 @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) I figure it's not going to be hard to buy tickets at the box office the day of the game this year. I'll just go whenever I feel like it, just like the old days. Especially since I got ripped on the Ozzie plan last year. Sometimes I miss those days!

Montoya IS overrated!!! I was pissed when the Rangers drafted him. Miika Wiikman from Sweden is putting up better numbers than Montoya in Hartford. Maybe I will get lucky and they will deal him to Florida for Horton. -

I would guess that means that Montoya will be available. He is young and from the area. They have another goalie in Hartford already. -
They should have him come out to work with Uribe.

January 25, 2008 -- Before and after No. 2 went to the rafters last night, Brian Leetch shook hand after hand extended to him by great old Rangers New York Rangers and awestruck new Rangers. All the while, Marek Malik Marek Malik sat for refusing to shake Tom Renney's. "Internal matter, and that's all I'm going to say about that," the coach said. But The Post has learned the embittered veteran Ranger defenseman refused Renney's handshake in the locker room after Tuesday night's 4-0 victory over the Thrashers and was scratched from last night's 2-1 shootout win over Atlanta for that reason. Malik had stormed out of the arena in Edmonton on Jan. 5 after finding out he was a scratch, and has publicly indicated his bewilderment at intermittent lineup scratches. Scott Gomez laid into Malik for refusing Renney's common congratulatory courtesy after a win in which Malik actually played one of his best games of the season. The defenseman met with the coach yesterday morning and was expected to again on Monday, when the Rangers reconvene after the All-Star break. -

Great outlet pass. Can play on the PP Good poke check. Big guy but doesn't use his size. He was great for use last year, but he is The Garden's whipping boy this year. Plus he is in the Coaches doghouse. He will be a great pickup for the Hawks. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 24, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) Euk now saying Malik is coming to the Hawks. Could just him throwing s*** at the wall, seeing if it sticks....it usually is... He is also saying that we are trading Malik to make room for Blake. The Rangers don't have the cap space for Blake. They also said the are retiring Adam Graves #9 next year. He was one of my favorite players and did a ton for the kids of NY and still does. -

There are some rumors in NY that Marik Malik is going to be traded and the hawks are the target. Maliks equipment is not in his locker and NY is being tight lipped about it because of the Leetch # retiring tonight. -

Speaking with WFAN, beat reporter Sweeny Murti said… “Omar Minaya said he inquired about Dontrelle Willis, but the Marlins were not going to deal him within the division. “However, the Tigers have explored the idea of spinning him off, and they have contacted the Mets. There wasn’t an official offer presented to Omar, but what was talked about, from what I was told, they talked about spinning off Willis. In addition, though, the Mets would have to take on some salary. The Tigers are interested, perhaps, in moving Willis and Ivan Rodriguez and dumping his salary, which is $13 million next season. So, if the Mets wanted Willis from Detroit, they’d have to take on that salary. The thing is, he has a no trade clause, so to get him to waive it you’d probably have to give him another year.”

He said he was open to playing 3rd a couple of days ago.

What if it wasn't as close as everybody thought, and Kenny drove up the price for Detroit.

Hank Steinbrenner: And if the Yankees are to be a part of trade talks, "now" means by Monday, according to Steinbrenner, who said: "The Twins are aware of it, that I'm not going to wait much longer. And the truth of the matter is, they don't want to be stuck with only one team to deal with. If they're stuck with just Boston, they're going to get a lot less. I'm not going to be played. This is not a game. This is serious business. I'm not going to be played, us against the Red Sox. That's not going to happen."

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) I like Jones, and I think that playing at the Cell could really help his offensive numbers. He was really bad judging the ball in the Cell, last time he was here. That worries me!

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
That funky motion replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
According to a Yankees official, who asked not to be identified because he is not directly involved in the decision, the Yankees have inquired about Chicago White Sox closer Bobby Jenks to set up Rivera. Jenks had a strong season (2.77 ERA, 40 saves in 46 chances and a record-tying streak of 41 consecutive batters retired), but a deal is considered a long shot. The Yankees' best hope is that the White Sox fail to sign free-agent centerfielder Torii Hunter and thus ask the Yankees for Melky Cabrera or Johnny Damon in a trade. -
