Fantasy Baseball Pay Leagues
Leonard Zelig replied to Leonard Zelig's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) I am in a league that is $200 a team, $5 per pickup and $10 per trade It's great, it makes the owners a little more passionate about the game since some actual decent money is involved at the end for not only the overall champion but even the regular season winners (who I think personally, should get the most money of anyone in the league in damn near all fantasy leagues) Is that with friends or a public league? -
I'm not in this thread much, but did people see/like Winter's Bone?

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) I certainly do, not just for the health of the player but also for the image of the team, I really don't want to be the team that severely hurt a player on purpose. It's one thing to hate another team and be rivals with them, it's another thing to intentionally hit somebody in an area that is known to be damaged heavily and could have severe affects. Did I miss the part where somebody suggested intentionally beaning him?

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) So I got a summons for jury duty yesterday. I knew it was coming since they had sent me a questionnaire that I was forced to fill-out about a month ago. One of the hardships to get out of it is if you are the “primary care-giver” of a child under 12 years old. Anyone know how they define that term? I’m thinking I’m the primary care-giver because I make the money that pays the bills. If I have go to sit on a jury I don’t get paid. If I don’t get paid I can’t pay my bills. Don't worry, they pay you for jury duty. I got $12/day, $18 if you get selected. Seriously though, if you tell the judge that, he/she may let you out.

Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
Leonard Zelig replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Anyone think the injury/surgery to Wainright will affect the Card's outlook on payin Pujols? I do not. -
My buddy and I were thinking about putting up some money and co-managing a team in a higher $$$ league. Has anybody tried any and have any opinions?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) That is one cool collection. That pic is now the background on my computer.

Adam Wainwright significant elbow injury
Leonard Zelig replied to justBLAZE's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) If you look at it that way, then I see your perspective. I just think that they still want to re-sign him and still have a chance to in the off-season. Trading away Wainwright would give him even more of a reason to leave. (as would trading Albert away obviously) I don't think anybody will be trading for Wainwright for some time. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) Of course you say that publicly. "I'm throwing in the towel this year, please stop buying season tickets". Well it's not really something you can do privately. As soon as the first starting player is traded for prospects it becomes obvious. -

According to Mozeliak they are still going to try to win this year. -

Thanks, I forgot he had 10-5. My question was asked assuming he (or whatever player) did not. -
White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
Leonard Zelig replied to Chisoxfn's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Hypothetical question: Could the White Sox trade AJ right now, or would they have to wait until a certain date since he officially became a free agent? -
I finally made it through the Spartacus on my third time through. I took 30 seconds between sets, but I'm OK with that. It really is challenging especially since I haven't worked out my legs much since finishing P90X last June.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) Genius.[/color] The Cardinals would never trade Albert Pujols. If they know for sure they are not going to resign Pujols, they should trade everybody they can except him. Holliday, Carpenter, Molina, get a head start on the rebuild. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 10:25 AM) Hello, Los Angeles? Trout and Morales for the best player in baseball. Hello, New York? Nova and one of your catchers gets you Chris Carpenter. I believe Pujols has stated that he will not accept a trade. -
KW calls $30 million for Albert Pujols “asinine"
Leonard Zelig replied to soxsoxsoxsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) It will be interesting to see how much revenue drops if he leaves. I bet it is less than $30 million. Cardinals fans are like Cub fans in that they are super loyal. Its not like Cleveland where the place would become deserted if the team didn't do well. The last time St. Louis drew less than 2,000,000 in attendance in a full season was 1980. That was the last year in a stretch of 12 that they did not make the playoffs. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 09:59 AM) I don't know, I bet Pujols brings in $30 mil for the cards in revenue. So if net=0 it's probably a bad business decision? -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) Somebody on twitter made the comment that they thought it was asinine to give $30 million to Jake Peavy and Alex Rios as well. I thought it was an interesting point. I absolutely agree, if it were for 10 years. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 05:58 PM) I never knew Steve Perry was such a big Will Ohman fan It's obviously Ohman getting Steve's autograph.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 09:37 AM) Anybody else watch Portlandia? Ive been around hipsters the past 8 years or so and this show cracks me up in the way they portray them. I caught the first 2 episodes and have the rest on DVR. I like it so far. It may help that I have friends who live out there and I visited them this past summer. I thought that bike guy skit was really funny.

Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
Leonard Zelig replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) People have been talking 10/300 for Pujols since ARoid signed his last deal. Y'all really are surprised at Pujols pushing for something on that order? When he has spent the past 2 years saying it was not about the money, yes I am kind of surprised. -
Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
Leonard Zelig replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
From Feb. '09: "It's not about the money all the time," the first baseman said Sunday in Jupiter, Fla. "It's about being in a place to win and being in a position to win. "If the Cardinals are willing to do that and put a team (on the field) every year like they have, I'm going to try to work everything out to stay in this town. But if they're not bringing championship-caliber play every year, then it's time for me to go somewhere else that I can win." It doesn't sound like he's trying to work anything out to stay. I'm not saying he doesn't have a right to do whatever he wants, but it sure seems like he has changed his position some time in the past year. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) this is pure speculation, but I have a feeling Pujols and his people made it clear to the Cards that if they wanted a shot at keeping him they had to keep Holliday or get another big bat in. FWIW he said he would be willing to defer some of his money to try and keep Albert... http://stlouis.sbnation.com/st-louis-cardi...nsion-cardinals That's what I said earlier in the thread, if Pujols would have said last year that he wanted to be the highest paid player, St. Louis may have planned for that. Instead he said he wanted good players around him and that's what they did. -
Isn't It Amazing How Easy It Is to Keep Rabid Fans Happy?
Leonard Zelig replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) This JimThome guy was out there and wanted to come back to Chicago. Vlad was out there. Hell, a year of Johnny Damon would've sufficed. To make a guy your primary DH when he was 10 seconds away from being DFAd before scooping him up from superstar Brian Anderson is indefensible. I know you like saber stats, ans none of those players WAR would have offset Kotsay's enough to make up 6 games in the standings. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) You say this all the time. Just because the supposed strength of the team underachieved doesn't mean you can't compensate in other areas. Kotsay was a joke. Everybody knew it before the season. He reinforced that with his pathetic performance. Thing is I'm not mad at him. That was all Ozzie and KW. What available player could have been acquired in place of Kotsay that would have made up the 6 game difference?
