All right, let's turn 3. -
Saw Sebadoh tonight, they are playing in Chicago tomorrow. I think Lou Barlow is his own biggest fan.

Just heard that today was the smallest crowd ever at Progressive Field, 9853.

Phew! Albert's out of his slump. I swear people were ready to jump off buildings after his opening day.

Anybody know how many of Jackson's runs were earned? -
QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Apr 1, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) Brooks Boyer actually says they'll be wearing the Gray jersey more: SoxMachine ARTICLE I thought I heard that the starting pitcher chooses the uniforms for that day. Maybe they changed that.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) I posted this yesterday and then never came back to the thread but what happened to putting the starters out there the last week of the season to get in a groove and be ready for the season?????????? Has the Opening day lineup played in one game this spring? I understand spring means nothing to this organization but slow starts and finishes are the norm and they are doing nothing to change that. The only consistent hitters that are somewhat guaranteed for this season are Dunn and Konerko and age could get the better of both of them. This team could easily hit .180 or .300 in April. I don't think we've seen the expected everyday lineup for a while now. According to Yahoo: SS Alexei Ramirez (back spasms) was scratched from the March 28 game. He was expected to be ready for Opening Day.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) That's the major criticism of Joe Buck. He shows no emotion whatsoever. I thought it was that he is a smug prick?

QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) The money maker games are summer dates. Pretty much every team is spending one of the first 2 weeks at home and the other week on the road. Having the opening week of the season at warm weather and indoor stadiums would not have any effect on the summer schedule.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) The post referred to the first couple of weeks of the season. There would be at least 10 games in 2 weeks. Besides, how much warmer is it guaranteed to be in Cleveland or Chicago or Minneapolis on April 15th as opposed to April 1st? Check the post again. And there is obviously no guarantee, but the nature of seasons is that is gets warmer as we get closer to summer. They are playing the games anyway, why not is places more likely to be nicer.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) The problem is, the teams in warmer weather cities or with domes don't want 10 home dates eaten by April 12th. They don't play 10 games in the first week of the season. The teams opening at home are generally hosting the first 2 series. Between Toronto, Anaheim, Oakland, Texas, Seattle, Tampa, and KC the AL could minimize the weather postponements in the first week of the season.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) Ideally, he'd be hitting 4th, but for our situation I like Beckham-Dunn-Konerko for 2-3-4. Ideally, Quentin would hit like its 2008, and Dunn could hit 4th.

Is the "H" in Humber silent? It seems like how this announcer is saying it.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) Exhibit #1... Now show me where the same author calls a black player arrogant and cocky. To bring race into this discussion is so off base. Posters here were all over Brian Anderson for being cocky.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) I hate to do this, but I think color plays a factor here. Now, I'm not accusing anyone here of this, but over time you happen to notice a pattern. When a young white player does these acts that have been referred to as showboating, people describe him as "passionate". When a young black player does them, he's called "cocky" or "arrogant" and accused of showboating. Would we really be having this same discussion if the player taking his helmet off after rounding third was Gordon Beckham? I seriously doubt it. Personally, I think people getting worked up over Milledge taking his helmet off is ridiculous. Why don't we want our players to have a little bit of style and attitude to them? It's not like he's trying to be an asshole and rub it in the pitcher's face. It's just something he does. If the pitcher wants to be overly sensitive and take exception to him, that's his choice. I just don't see why any fan would actually be bothered by this. Can you provide some kind of evidence of this?

Does anybody know where someone could find a really good lawn care deal for Chicagoland area? Maybe something like 3 fertilizer, 2 weed control applications. Not wanting to pay over $70.

Super Official 2011 White Sox predictions thread
Leonard Zelig replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) Not a prediction. But I want to let all of Soxtalk know that if Thornton sports a better K-rate, WHIP, FIP, save% and saves overall than Soria I will get the Bieber tattoo. And to make it more interesting, he only has to trump Soria in 3 of those 5 categories for me to get the tat. J4L keeps his word. So save this post. Put it in your sigs or whatever. Whatever, you caught the fever and already got the tattoo, so you're not even sticking your neck out. Looks like this on your lower back:
