  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 16, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) I don't understand trading an ace- like young pitcher who you still have control of for 2 years, unless you get something very similar or even better back and it better be pitching. I could understand trading him next offseason when he will have a year left and the Sox came to the conclusion he was going to test the market and didn't like their chances. You still would get an excellent return. Pitching wins. Teams that dump their best pitchers, usually don't do very well in the standings. Trading him now because you are scared he may not re-sign is small market mentality. Let the Pirates think like that. If the object is winning, worry about Danks contract at least another year. I didn't say anything about trading him this year. I said he may not be around after 2011. Obviously a lot depends on what position the Sox are in next summer.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 15, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) Peavy is a health risk. Buehrle is a FA after next year. I think Jackson is gone either way. Floyd is solid. Sale? Who knows. And I don't want Freddy back. So yeah, I see a big hole in trading Danks. Maybe it's just me, but I'm looking beyond 2011. You must be pretty confident that Danks will sign an extension? Because if he doesn't, there's a good chance won't be here past 2011.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) You got me. Jackson=Cliff Lee Yeah, that's exactly what I said.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) No doubt. Guys with unlimited upside always get traded four times in four years. You win. Do you mean like Cliff Lee?
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) I'm so tired of seeing this argument back and forth. Does anyone honestly not understand both sides of this f***ing argument yet? It just ends up being the same things said back and forth, from both sides, in countless threads throughout the site. Welcome to soxtalk!
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) Ah ok thanks. Still something I may be interested in down the road. I'll still probably look into something audio for the car itunes has a ton of podcasts on learning other languages.
  7. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) This is such a pipe dream, this will be just like Tori Hunter, KW will come in second because he would not offer more than a 4 year deal, we have seen this all before. Crawford is also 3 years younger than Hunter was LA signed him, so it is not exactly the same.
  8. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) "The Wall" last night was intensely and amazingly awesome. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 24, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) Saw Roger Waters The Wall last night, best show I will probably ever see in my life. Only sad part is that obviously Gilmour was not there and its apparent that Gilmour and Waters will never perform a full tour together.( Gilmour will apparently play the guitar solo for Comfortably Numb 1 time). I just hope that Gilmour tours with Pink Floyd one more time, but I highly doubt it. For you guys who have seen Waters' current tour, is he just doing The Wall or is there material from other albums as well?
  9. Is there supposed to be a press conference today or how is he going to address this?
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 29, 2010 -> 11:39 AM) That's the type of thinking that will cause another 83 years of waiting for another. No thanks. Wow, I had no idea that I had such an impact on the performance of the team.
  11. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 29, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) A.J. hitting 4th. I'll admit that is one thing I didn't think I would ever see. Still no Viciedo, Flowers.. still another game I won't watch. Hasn't AJ already batted 4th earlier this season?
  12. I've read it several times and I can't figure out why Greg was warned. If what he posted is "trolling for arguments", then so is about 1/3 of the posts on this board.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 26, 2010 -> 01:21 PM) Well, I'm not sure everything that McGwire put into his bloodstream, but I don't think any of it can be considered "Healthy". What does that have to do with the fans?
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 26, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) And he's in a town that has an unhealthy personal worship of their baseball players and managers. I agree it's a little odd, but why do you think it's unhealthy?
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) Media and fan scrutiny would be the #1 reason that St Louis is better than Chicago. A player can't fart without Joe Cowley tweeting about it. There's probably a bigger douche bag than Cowley on St. Louis radio, his name is Kevin Slaten.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Belle ftw. http://thechive.com/2010/09/23/the-disney-...d-30-hq-photos/ Adult female stars as a comic characters. No nudity, but possibly NFSW.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 24, 2010 -> 06:07 PM) Like constantly throwing at our hitters knowing that it will provoke a response from Ozzie, also knowing that both teams will be warned before Ozzie has a chance to respond It's hard to tell how much of that is Gardenhire and how much is the players, but I didn't they usually issued a warning on the first hit batter.
  18. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 11:09 PM) I play guitar/sing for a Fisted Sister tribute band called Mister Fister. We play some originals , too. Sounds like fun, do you guys do the hair, makeup, and outfits?
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 24, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) I wont blast you, just disagree. I want them to lose, and to get swept in the process. And I want Gardenhire to make a ridiculous cheap move(like he always seems to vs us) that totally backfires in his face. And I want Texas to represent the AL. Not likely, but thats what I want What do you mean by a ridiculous cheap move?
  20. Not really a tragedy, but: Fisted Sister
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) What an awesome win! Can you feel the electricity on the south side!!! We are going to get that wild card. In the pregame last night, Steve Stone said that it was a big game to win. Now I've never won a CY Young award, but I would say that today's game was equally big.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) Other than Jerry Manuel, he also had the easiest time to make the playoffs as 4 teams instead of 2 make them now. Gene Lamont won a division in 1993 played for the AL Championship and lost. In 1994 a lot of people thought that team was WS bound. I would think they would have waltzed into the playoffs at least. He was fired 28 games into the next season for Terry Bevington. A move that should get Ron Schueler permanently banned from US Cellular Field. I would have loved to see what that 1994 team would have done in the post season. Unfortunately we didn't get to. You can make all the excuses you want, but my answer to his question is still correct.
  23. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 07:19 PM) I have to hand it to you, Greg. You are all over the place. As far as Torre goes, I say there's no chance. He's 70, so he wouldn't be around long (coaching, that is). Buddy Bell? I doubt it. If Ozzie leaves, and if he does it'll be on his own terms, I see the Sox going younger again, like with Ozzie. And it might be someone from within the organization (Cora?). I know you love Ozzie, but you make it sound like this team would never win an other game if he's not back next year. Yes, the Sox won it all in 2005, but other than that, how many times did the Sox make the playoffs under Ozzie? 2 times in 7 years which is better than any pre-Ozzie span in the past 90 years.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) You also have to consider that LaRussa managed in a completely different era in those first 7 years. He had to be the best of 7 teams to make the playoffs. Had Ozzie been in that generation, he might have gotten to the playoffs once, not so impressive now, is it? I don't really care what might have happened, all I know for sure is what did happen.
