  1. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) so basically we're looking at Carl to replace Carlos-so to speak, and for Dye to replace Magglio-so to speak. If they can at least produce 80% of what Maggs and Carlos did(which i expect them to do)....we didn't lose out on offense as much as all these critics are saying.....but the thing is that they have to stay healthy in order to do this...and i'm optimistic about that, and this season Do you expect Carl to get enough ABs to replace 80% of Lee's stats?
  2. Anybody know if there's a way to get CSN outside of Chicago?
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) True.........very true. I thought drugs saved lives.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) seriously any smart fan would know he didnt use cork on a regular basis he broke so many bats. He was just really struggling after being hit in the head and all and it finally got to him. As far as the steroids go i dont accuse anyone of taking steroids until its proven. But he was a club house cancer with that boom box of his. If it was proven, you wouldn't have to make accusations. And how many smart fans watch the Cubs? I smell a Bleacher Bum.
  5. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) who's picking the tigers over the sox? According to winninguglyin83 Street & Smiths is.
  6. QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) frank thomas has the widest nose i have ever seen Yeah, I thought maybe Scottie Pippen's was wider, but I was wrong.
  7. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) I have a feeling both sides really, really want it to be Maggs and they're really struggling to make it work somehow. Never count Hendry out. Maggs might settle for a 1 year deal with the Cubs. Think about it, would you rather showcase with the Cubs for one year or be tied down to the Tigers for 5? andProbably Burnitz, but I won't be shocked if it's Maggs. Did you forget who Maggs' agent is? I seriously doubt that would happen.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) I hope he clears and is resigned to a minor league deal. I don't think we saw a completely healthy Grilli last year. I'd like to see what he can do (in Charlotte) for 2005. How long do teams have to sign him before we can?
  9. I found these odds at a site I used to bet on: AL CENTRAL Chicago 9-2 Cleveland 12-5 Detroit 7-1 Kansas CIty 25-1 Minnesota 5-7 AL PENNANT Anaheim Angels 9-2 Baltimore Orioles 20-1 Boston Red Sox 3-1 Chicago White Sox 30-1 Cleveland Indians 20-1 Detroit Tigers 25-1 Kansas City Royals 100-1 Minnesota Twins 13-2 New York Yankees 1-1 Oakland Athletics 23-1 Seattle Mariners 18-1 Tampa Bay Devil Rays 100-1 Texas Rangers 15-1 Toronto Blue Jays 50-1 Thomas & Konerko are both 50-1 to win the HR derby.
  10. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) does anyone know where to find the white sox odds to win the division this year. Im goin to vegas next week. In Vegas.
  11. I really haven't see much optimism for the Sox outside this board.
  12. I'm pretty sure Cruz scored the run to clinch the division(on a sac. fly by Baines?)
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Even after Cruz got here? It has been a while and I was only 9 at the time. Yes, Cruz hit 9th, we also had Ron Kittle in left, not so much range.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:00 AM) I was trying to get a feel for this team by comparing them to another of the Sox teams that I have seen. I came to the conclusion that this team really resembles the 1983 team in a lot of ways. They have speed at the top of the order, thump in the middle of the order, great range on defense, and an entirely solid pitching staff. Opinions? Any other better teams to compare these guys too? The early 80's is about as far back as I remember well. Carlton Fisk batted 2nd on that team.
  15. Looks like you might be able to get by with a short bus. LOL, just kidding, sounds like fun, if you guys plan a trip from St. Louis, count me in!
  16. Awesomefan, yes that picture was hanging on the wall behind the display of bricks from Comiskey. I saw the exhibit in St. Louis, I'm pretty sure they display the same stuff everywhere they go, but in the lobby of the museum was an additional display of St. Louis Browns & Cardinal items, though they were from Cardinal HOF and not Cooperstown.
  17. Baseball as America This may be old news since it was in Chicago about a year ago, but I just saw it this weekend. Has anybody else gotten a chance to check it out? It was pretty cool, definitely worth seeing if you get a chance. Among the Sox stuff on diplay: a ticket window from Comiskey bricks from Comiskey "Shoeless" Joe's shoes a jersey from 1917 World Series scorecard from 1959 Series some stuff about the "Black Sox" there were others, but it's hard to remember because I saw so much stuff and I couldn't take pictures.
  18. QUOTE(backman @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) i say let them fight for it in spring training, then we'll see who deserves the spot, and most likey ozzie will give the spot to the player most deservant. (i'd rather have a stronger arm in left field) Could you elaborate on that comment?
  19. Is there any national media there, or just local? I thought I saw Peter Gammons in a pic, but not sure.
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) According to Bruce, the Indians are a good bullpen pitcher away from winning the Central. That very well could be true. I hope they don't give Iguchi 3yrs. or 4-5mil. Not til he does something. ^^^That part was not supposed to be green.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) The poll should read: What internet do you use? Dialup DSL Cable other The speed of the internet would control how fast each page loads and would help the decision on what size of limit to put on signatures. I don't think the issue is (for myself at least) how fast the page loads, but rather having a 4-6 inch sig on a one sentence post.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) allright, this may be a stupid point, but what's the time difference in Japan? It's possible that Iguchi is in the middle of the night, and any deal would have to obviously be signed off by him... so KW and his agent may have had a great conversation, but they need to talk to him... It is 9:17 AM in Tokyo right now.
