  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) On paper, they addressed their needs and at the time like Edgar Renteria > Orlando Cabrera. They still got 95 wins, but injuries and a bunch of crap happened in that locker room. I think we win 95, make it to the ALCS and lose in 6. But that's why they play the games.
  2. I'm going with 95 simply because I thought Boston improved themselves over the prior year and s*** just happens.
  3. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) My quick assessment of the top few teams for next year (not necessarily in order, things may change between now and next year)... Texas- top 3 if Vince comes back, but I don't think they're the undisputed #1 that people are making them out to be. They lose two fabulous offensive lineman and pretty much all of their impact defensive players. Young can do a lot on his own, but they'll have to win more shootouts next year if some defensive players don't show up. USC- definitely top 3, but part of it depends on who stays and goes. If Bush or White come back, they should probably be the #1 team pre-season. Their offensive line will still be very good, their receiving core will be solid even if Smith goes (haven't heard anything supporting that), and Booty is a very talented QB that can step in fairly easily. The defense should be better despite losing a few starters thanks to a lot of gifted underclassmen on the roster. OSU- The offense obviously should be pretty good. Smith, Ginn, and Pittman should do a lot of damage, although another receiver will have to step up without Holmes. The defense has to fill some major holes in the front 7, although the secondary returns a few pretty good players. Notre Dame- The offense looks like it will be very good, although the line probably won't be quite as good. The defense still needs some work. Their secondary is not very good outside of Zbikowski, they will have some new LB's to break in, and their line is only decent (Abiamari and Landri are pretty good, need some others to step up). I'm not sure they have the horses to make a major improvement on defense like USC does. West Virginia- Do they even have a defense? All I saw anytime I watched them was White and Slaton running wild. I can't imagine that'll work for another entire season, especially if they make it to another major bowl game. Their schedule does work in their favor, however. LSU- I don't know about that one. The offense looks like it has some talent, but the defense loses several valuable players. I don't think their offense has anywhere near as much punch as some of these other teams, so their defense better find some replacements for Wroten, Williams, and Vaughn. Florida- I would have felt better about their offense if Jackson were back. That leaves Caldwell as the only proven receiver, and he's coming off an ACL injury. I'm also not entirely sold on their defense. They did fairly well this year, but they don't seem to have any star power. Auburn- They bring back Cox and Irons, and McClover and Groves are beasts at the end spots. They need some tackles and linebackers though. Also, I wouldn't necessarily list them as a top 10 team right now, but I still like Penn State. Morelli was a very talented passer coming out of high school and he's had some time to develop and learn the offense. He's got some weapons coming back around him. Derrick Williams is going to have a big year. Pozluzny will probably be back because of his knee injury, and he should reek some havok along with Connor. King will probably move to corner, which gives them some major talent at that spot. They need to shore up the line in order for those guys to matter however. Texas is still getting a top flight lineman in the country coming in next year and Bush is not returning to USC. He's made that known already. If Young is back, Texas is #1 without a doubt.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) Just a random question: If Troy Smith played the whole game against Texas, are we talking about OSU as national champs today? Nope.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 11:29 AM) Its funny, everyone who knocked Leinart for bieng classless didn't make one comment about how him and Bush went and congratulated the Texas players and one Vince Young on the way they played. Or how Pete Carrol went over and congratulated Mack Brown after the game. I hate USC, but they are a classy team. Or how when he was being interviewed a 2nd time he said that USC is the better team. Leinart is an ass from what I've seen. Carrol is a class act and I can't really speak on Bush.
  6. I'm pretty sure it's David Thomas and he's a senior.
  7. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) Ashtrays and beer. I meant facebooks.
  8. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) the sox needed a left handed power hitter and they needed to get rid of Marte. They upgraded the Rotation (you can never have enough pitching). They don't need Miguel Tejada. They should be the favorites to win the AL with or without Tejada. Is getting rid of Marte really necessary considering we now have no 2nd lefty and likely won't get one nearly as good as Marte next year without paying a heavy penny? Sure, Miguel Tejada is not needed, just like Mackowiak, Thome, and Vaz aren't needed. I mean we've proven we could do it before without them. Tejada would certainly help though.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) If Houston has a clue, they trade the pick. Between Leinart, Bush, and maybe Vince....they could get SOOOO much for that pick, and build depth on a roster barren of talent. But Vince isn't leaving. Even Mack Brown talked about it and he said he fully expects young to be back.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) Want a laugh?? Read this article by Skip Clueless from prior to tonight's game. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=bayless/060104 I can't wait to see him tommorow on 1st and 10.
  11. What makes Illini's class top 25?(BTW, I'm an Illini fan). I know about Isiah Williams and that one LB, but outside of that, they really have nothing. What am I missing?
  12. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) Sean May was staying also, even during the parade celebration... You just won the national title and had the best game of your life, you are losing possibly your 3 best OL, and your hometown team is picking #1 overall, I don't think he CAN pass that up. Houston won't pick him, Texas has the nation's best recruiting class(with a stud OL), and he has a chance to for the Heisman(which he really wants badly) plus the shot of winning another National Championship. Remember that his WR's will also be better considering they'll be sophmores and juniors.
  13. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) i am not sure i can though. I have HS Facebook. What's the difference between high school and college?
  14. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) i have. It can get pretty loud however the noise escapes easily. The SEC conference schools are the best though in terms of atmosphere because they live, eat, and breathe football. Saw LSU at home and it is LOUD! Vandy vs (correction)Tennessee is pretty hyped at the games.
  15. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) She doesnt have s*** on Jenn Sterger!! Haha, you've seen her too? Hottest college girl I've seen by far.
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) Young's not saying he's going or staying at the post-game AKA he gone. They asked him if he's going to try to repeat next year and he said it was going to be hard and that they were going to have to work extra hard in the offseason to repeat. His tone sounded like he was including himself in they. The guy is staying. And I don't think it's a mistake for him to stay or Leinart. They're still going to get their money still.
  17. I've been to OSU a couple of years back during the Nat'l championship season. That place was f***ing loud. The Rose Bowl's walls aren't high enough or steep enough to keep the sound inside, plus there's no type of roof. I've never been to Michigan, but it would be hard to top OSU. Anyway, like I've been saying and Vince Young has been saying, he's going to stay. I think he wants to win another Nat'l Championship and I think he wants to win the Heisman.
  18. Good ass game. C'mon. It's time to build the legend of Vince Young.
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) I f***ing hate college kickers. A lot of them really suck and/or can't perform under pressure. Suit me the f*** up. I could kick that s***. It's all I do at the friggin park.
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) Yikes, Vince Young = good I think he's a tad bit better than good. This is turning into a good ole fashion shootout.
  21. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) I saw USC by 7. That would be correct.
  22. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) 16-10 Texas going into halftime Could be better if it weren't for the miscues. If I was Vince Young, I would've faked kneed it and try to outrun everyone. They probably could've gotten it done.
  23. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) i can only think that he rushed it so they wouldnt review it Well there was a missed INT call for Texas, so I say they're both even. USC is probably going to score here. Hold it to a FG please.
