  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) I wonder if this rumor was before or after the Vazquez trade. Did KW still want Prior AFTER acquiring Vazquez? Probably afterwards. Real question is after Garland was locked up or before? That would've been one hell of a rotation if it was after and we dealt Count(though I love the guy). SP-Buehrle SP-Prior SP-Garland SP-Garcia SP-Vazquez That is one siiiiiiiick rotation that's also still relatively young. All of them would be entering their primes or already are in it.
  2. The saddest thing is Sean Salisbury was right on. Tillman got caught looking in instead of looking at the #1 WR in the game. Smith didn't even make any moves to get free. He just ran straight like when you play in the parking lot and let that one kid who's slow as heck and who has butterfingers just run around. To think Steve Smith was a 3rd round pick and the Bears instead took David Terrell, Anthony Thomas and Mike Gandy. Talk about a bad draft.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 09:34 AM) Umm you dont carry 2 punters and Idonno why we would get rid of our current punter.... he didnt have the greatest game yesterday but he is prob one of the best in the business. I dont think we take a WR in the draft we have a lot of young guys and they are prob going to try and add Airese Currie to the mix... We definitely need some OL depth for sure especially if Metcalf isnt brought back id like us to see us take a guard and tackle in the 3rd/4th. A speedy CB is needed and if there is a guy available in the 2nd id definitely take him... and yes we definitely need to take a TE in the 1st. Mercedes Lewis seems the most athletic to me and the possible biggest game breaker in the NFL even if we lose a little blocking with him. We always have Gilmore or whatevr we can bring in on 3rd and short plays. Mercedes Lewis has speed questions from what I heard even so that Mel Kiper Jr. dropped him out of the 1st round completely.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 09:08 AM) They were overrated since they were 1-3? Or when they were giving up the least points in the NFL?? I guess the "ratings" really had something to do with that performance huh? Go back to your hole. Because those NFC North offenses are 2nd to none. :headshake
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) For some reason, I could see Peter Warrick or Tim Dwight in a Bears uni. Just a hunch, but if Randle El isn't a Bear, I could see them going that route. That way I could keep hating Dwight. Warrick had the tools and potential. What the hell happened?
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) Watching Carolina, the Bears could try and sign a possession WR in the Ricky Proehl mold. To know you've got a guy that can catch it if you get it to him on third down would be big for the Bears. Joe Jurevicius? BTW, here's a list of FA WR. Beware of the tons of popups. http://www.theredzone.org/2006/freeagents/...asp?Position=WR
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) Interesting choices there. Polley would be awesome and Peterson would be even better but I think Peterson would be too expensive and Hillenmeyer is probably going to get resigned. Aaron Brooks will get a starting job somewhere IMO. Well yeah, Peterson is there just in case you can't get a Nate Clements in FA. Other LB's who would look decent, Warrick Holdman and Kevin Bentley. I think Brooks won't get a starting job next year. You could always look at Josh McCown or Anthony Wright as well.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) Why would I have no confidence in Gage. He isn't asked to be a star. He did a solid job once Rex came back into the picture. Berrian and Bradley will be the 2 and 3's with Gage as a 4 and someone like Randle El joining them as a special teams player and a guy that comes in when you need a big play (because of this reasoning, I don't see us getting Randle El, but rather drafting a speedy special teams type player in rds 3-5). Gage is overrated. He doesn't do much. He's a nice blocker and that's about it. Randle El would be a great return guy as well as a #2 WR. As far as QB, Bears should think about Aaron Brooks as a backup. He's better than Orton, is a different QB than Rex and he could run like hell just in case our O-Line goes down. Remember, backup. Bears also should try for Lance Schulters(if they don't get Archuleta) for S and either Tommy Polley(who has played in Lovie's system and would fit perfectly) or Julian Peterson for the last OLB spot.
  9. QUOTE(TheHawkaroo @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) I like a TE in the first round, but I see no reason to get another receiver, especially a FA. We have Moose, Berrian, Gage, and don't forget Bradley. Berrian showed what he could do today, I think we have a solid group for a running team. If we sign any big name FA it should be a CB. If we have a shutdown coverage CB in this game we win. Tillman was embarrassed by Smith, he didn't get much help from the safeties but that doesn't mean Smith should be able to do what he did. Our D was exposed today by the Panther's passing game and it's embarrassing to see this happen in Chicago in the playoffs. WR-Moose WR-FA WR-Bradley WR-Berrian WR-Currie I have no confidence in Gage if I'm a Bears fan. Well I do, but not more than I would watching Wade. You can't expect Bradley to pick up where he left off this year. I think Randle-El or Brandon Lloyd or bust. They need someone who could get YAC. No one on this team is capable of that or at least hasn't shown it. This team is 1 playmaker on offense and defense away from doing something big.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) Not sure if anybody else heard this, but Laurence Holmes (who I really like) was on the Score's postgame with Doug and Ed and said that Mike Brown re injured the calf jumping in the air celebrating after the goal line stand in the 1st half that led to the 20 yard FG by Casey. Wow, if that's true....ugh. That's the sign of an injury prone and/or dumb player. Adam Archuleta would make a nice choice.
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Draft 1. TE Davis/Lewis/Pope 2. CB Kelly Jennings (Miami) 6 ft. who runs 4.4 3. Jeremy Trueblood (BC) 6-9 Tackle 4-7 best talent available Free Agency WR Antonio Bryant (24 years old, 1000 yards this year, 6-2, coming into his own) TE Matt Schobel (27 years old, big target) S Adam Archuleta (big FA pickup, Chris Harris is good, so is Brown, but Brown is injured too often and see what our backup safeties did this year, we need him. He can start and have Harris off the bench, Harris will still see plenty of time) 3rd string QB O-line depth LB depth You have a scouting report on Jennings? Overall sounds like a nice plan. I have a problem with Bryant though. I don't think he's fast enough. The Bears need a bigplay burner. I think Randel-El fits that description more. Also, won't Archuleta be kind of expensive?
  12. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) I predict Kerry Wood will be a dominate pitcher next year with a low earned run average and a higher strike out total than anybody else in MLB in simulated games. That is why Kerry Wood is my simulated league Cy Young finishing just ahead of Mark Prior. Perhaps he can even take the cubs to a simulated World Series. Mark it down that I called the shot on January 15. 3 years in a row, huh? Josh Beckett is my AL pick.
  13. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) LOL, Maddux hasn't been a #1 starter since 2002 with the Braves and how is Wood a #1 starter when he never pitches? Maddux was never a #1 in the playoffs and he isn't even a #1 in the regular season. Hell, if him and El Duque were healthy, I'd take El Duque over him every single day. Maddux(as of now) = overrated.
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs05/n...tory?id=2293795 9th paragraph from the bottom. Still don't see anything wrong with the quote. True leaders need to speak up and say what's what. I'm one of those guys who are sick of political correctness as well.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) Moose broke his hand Good, maybe when he repairs it he'll be able to catch more passes.
  16. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) Yep, Peyton called out his entire offensive line. Haha, what a great team player he is. He will never admit that he is just a big game choker. Well his O-Line sucked today big time, their timing looked off, especially in the first 3 quarters, they didn't give the ball to Edge enough, and their defense was tired because of their lack of offense. I think their window is closing.
  17. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Tillman played like crap today, but the way Steve Smith has been playing this year I'm not sure that anybody can cover them. Champ can. I'm confident Vasher could've contained him a lot better.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) He handled himself very well after the game. He is a hungry young man and will work hard to become a great QB. Tons of people have good work ethics and don't make it. I'll give him dap for wanting to work hard, but he might injure himself again doing that. And honestly, I don't care what he says after the game. I rather have had him speak the truth and rip Tillman.
  19. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) I do. He was always good for getting burnt once a game for a deep ball and today when it counted he was absolutely torched. Whoever said that Tillman is living off those 2 Minny games was spot on. He's TOTALLY overrated. Thank you Nuke. And this defense didn't even look as good as the 2001 in the playoff game when all I've been hearing is the opposite.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) Rex is a S-T-U-D. This guy is going to be a great quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Based on what? He had a couple of chances to run up the middle and didn't. I don't see Favre at all.
  21. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) You're gonna be eating s*** after this game Bear hater. And Im gonna feed it to ya. nitetrain = not eating s***.
  22. Tillman has looked worse in this game than any other is because the Panthers keep on attacking him. For some reason, no one else all season kept attacking Tillman when he's shown he's prone to giving up plays all season. Sure he'll get an INT or 2 because he is a guy who goes after the ball, but he's horrible. RW at least had that one whole good season, while "Peanut-head" has lived off 2 games and one player(Randy Moss). And no one give me bull that it's against a #1 WR. He was getting beat by a guy who came off the practice squad not too long ago and he quit on the play which there was flags on. Tillman = defintion of overrated.
