Thomas done for the year
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) They have been winning most of the season without Frank. This actually could be a blessing. He wasn't going to be 100% anyway, and except for the homeruns, really added nothing offensively. Now, it appears KW will be forced to add a bat. The chances are that bat would be more effective down the stretch and hopefully into the playoffs than what Frank would have been able to provide at his ankle's top condition this season. But he still basically made Paul Konerko better. Notice how when Frank was back, PK started heating up? That's because PK needs someone there. He's proven that he can't carry an offense and is one of those guys who's just good with other hitters around him. If we don't get a big bat, we're officially f***ed. With that said, KW is probably working on a deal to get a big bat here. Hopefully he doesn't drastically overpay for anything though. He probably will have to now that Levine(I'm suspecting) leaked this info that shouldn't have been leaked.

Thomas done for the year
QUOTE(ptatc @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) Anyone hear any specifics? We know how KW likes to keep things quiet. It must be something severe if they announced it before the deadline. Either that or Levineline leaked info he shouldn't have and KW is going to let him habe it. I agree that KW is going to let Bruce Levine have it for reporting this. I know I would since now teams are going to know he's desperate for a bat. F'n Levine. Anyway, Depending on how much the White Sox would pay of Griffey's contract, they could ask for anything between a Brandon McCarthy straight up to a Kris Honel if we were to pay all of his contract.

Thomas done for the year
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) Griffey is too unreliable in terms of health, in my opinion of course. As a DH at least? I don't think so.

Sox standing pat
Frank Thomas going down. PK now is carrying our offense? Definately ends the WS thoughts for me. I'll hope, but I know I'll be let down if I actually think this team could go win it all.

Thomas done for the year
Griffey, Manny, someone who's out there. Play for free, please!!!!!! This sucks complete ass.

Thomas done for the year
Griffey. Please become our savior. I know for a fact that if Paul Konerko is our big bat, we're done.

Rumor: Sox "hot" after Wagner
Get swept Philly. Come on. I still believe we need a bat, but I would be willing to do this. If it really does get serious, the White Sox should offer to pick up Thome and most of his contract and see what Philly says then.

Cub fans "classless" according to Cubs players
QUOTE(juddling @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) I shudder at the thought of Hawkins pitching for the Sox..much less in the series. Besides...he's ex-Twin AND ex-cub. two strikes and he's out!!!!! Was there ever a day you thought A.J. Pierzynski would be catching for the White Sox? Didn't think so.

Burnett deal nearly done?
It's okay peanut. It's just we aren't satisfied. It's an offday and nothing has happened still. We are like a pack of wolves and you gave us an old chew toy. Give us the flesh, not the toy. Anyway, don't rip peanut. He's a quality guy.

Chicago sports joke....
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) I have heard a different version of this with a Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox, Cubs, and Cardinals fan... That's the version I heard.

Burnett to be dealt for wagner?
I heard Florida knows about the intention of Boston that they might swing him to Philly and therefore, that's why they are thinking about just keeping Burnett because they don't want to hurt themselves in the playoff race. This may also be a reason why Burnett isn't dealt to us.

Red Sox will explore Ramirez trade
Oh, I so wish we could get him. He would be awesome for us.

Phil Rogers on Trades
Burnett signing an extension won't be a deal breaker. At least that's what Rogers thinks.

The calm before the storm?
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) So the pitcher brushed him off or did he hit him? Those are two seperate things. If he was hit by the pitch why did he try to get out of the way of the pitch AFTER he was hit by hit? I think I already explained how it allows him to be more selective and take away part of the plate. You bring up Mark Prior. That is one pitcher in all of MLB that has actually challenged Bonds with it. You can see it anyway you like. I have no reason to argue and in fact it is quite tiring. Yeah, I forgot. Prior is the only brave man to ever dare challenge Barry Bonds.

The calm before the storm?
QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) yeah that or we could have a conversation that originated with someone speculating about a nonexistent trade for barry bonds, when bonds for sure isnt on teh market and for sure wotn even play this year....besides talk about nonexistent trades that coudl be going down is why teh inside beat was created, not to hear some 15 year old kid and some other people duke it out about why barry bonds hit homers But it is a potential trade. Don't you know that Bonds will be on the market next year because he can't play the field anymore, therefore making him available to the White Sox for Timo Perez and maybe Willie Harris. Of course, if we throw in Harris, you know they're throwing in Vizquel and Schmidt.

The calm before the storm?
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Kid, did you read what he wrote? He said that he got hit by the pitch THEN proceeded to move out of the way of the pitch. I have never seen a player get hit by the pitch AND THEN try to get out of the way of the pitch after it already hit him. CAN YOU READ? The armor helped make him a better HITTER. Read my comments kid, it never once included JUST home runs. Are you reading any of my posts? Okay, let me take you through the steps. Bonds gets hit Gets on base Next time up, he is noticeably farther off the plate than his last at bat. ¿Comprende?

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) this is teh most worthless arguement except now im getting excited because SSI is gonna start talking to soxfan1 about how he looks like hes 7 years old in that picture in his sig.......this is gonna be good cuz ive always wondered how old soxfan1 is since that pic is everywhere I think he's 14. Pretty smart baseball wise for a 14 year old.
