  1. I'm up for getting any of those 4 guys. Just Git R Done Kenny!!!
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:17 AM) Marte's problems are not the lingering arm problems. Its his mechanics. He had the same exact problem last year. He short arms the fastball rushing the delivery too much and the ball sails. This is why he broke Chavez's hand last year. Its why he doesnt feel comfortable going against lefties and gets deep into counts. When he follows through on his fastball its a crisp 94-95mph with movement in on righties away from lefties. When he short arms it, it sails into lefties and high and away. Its a Rick Ankiel type pitch. If you watch his meatballs, its always when he slows down his delivery a bit, and takes it down to 91 without any movement. He aims it at that point. But I agree when Hawk starts to do a number on someone, HE GONE!!!!! Perfect Post. I have felt this way for some time. He shorts arm a lot nowadays and that's why he is less effective and that's why he has bad control. He doesn't follow through on his pitches at all and that's a problem.
  3. 4 million isn't too bad as worst case scenario at all. Will it cost us a player? We have to see, but people act as if 10 million is deferred per each year through 2025. I'd certainly get him.
  4. Don't forget the fact that Thomas and Dye were gone from the series.
  5. Oh yeah, I noticed on Thursday. They had orgasms every time the ball was pitched to one of their hitters. I seriously would've killed half of them by myself if I had a weapon.
  6. Stupid piece of s*** writers. Go eat some clam chowda with your tawnic and shut the f up. I hope we face Boston in the playoffs so we could sweep the s*** out of them, then I could e-mail this writer back with his own article.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) It's debatable. We'll see. Let's wait till his career is finished and all the numbers are in. Very True. But at his current numbers, I would say he is.
  8. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) I hear alot of talk about getting Griffey, but my question is where do you put him? The only way I can see taking him on is if we find a way to ship Konerko and having him play first base. Sure, Frank's out, but IMO Everett is a better option at DH than Griffey. I would put Griffey at CF, Rowand to RF, Dye to 1B.
  9. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) hate to sound pessimistic, but I think those sellouts were mainly the Red Sox bandwagon, er, I mean Red Sox Nation. I think that has a big thing to do with it. Don't matter though since we got the Yanks coming to town and Minny who everyone is going to go to. Hopefully they don't fill half our ballpark though.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) Nothing new to report? Same ol? I have been gone for a bit and havent hear anything after or during the game. Same 'ol. My personal feeling after the first hour of hearing this was that it wasn't going to happen. Anyways, I want Griffey.
  11. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) He is not a future hall-of-famer. No way in hell. I'm sorry but Nomar was hitting in the .100's this year. Not exactly hall of fame material. Wasn't someone on our team hitting .200 at the beginning of the year. I could understand if he played the whole year, but he hasn't. I like the latest trade you proposed to FLA. Does FLA like it though?
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) I'll say this much ... If we weren't driving toward a possible World Series, there's no way I'd BMac for Burnett. But we are, so you to go for the brass ring when it comes around. I agree.
  13. Okay, this whole deferred contract thing. Do you guys know how much he'll make a year in deferred cash?
  14. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Don't go after Nomar. He is overrated. he can't stay healthy and even when he was healthy this year he wasn't better than Uribe this year. He's a clutch hitter, still decent defensively and he hits for average and power. That's a reason why I suggested it.
  15. He did quite well. Would I take him over a Wagner? No, but we don't have any current Wagners on this team.
  16. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) because they would also be getting Marte and McCarthy for Burnett and Gonzalez. They really need some relief help badly. I think they would want more. I think a mid level prospect would have to be included in that deal. I wouldn't mind the Sox going after him in FA or Nomar. I think Uribe is just a good bench player at this point.
  17. I don't think Thursday or today were sellouts for the White Sox. Thursday had a crowd of 36,750 or something like that which is 250 short of a sellout. Good nonetheless. I think it was sort of a fluke. Lots of lower bowl games are going quickly and I mean quickly. People want to pay to see a good team. As it gets later and later and the Sox look more in it, attendance will get like this.
  18. He's decent with the bat, but I agree and would say he's better overall than Uribe. But what incentive would Florida have to trade him for Uribe?
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) I keep leaving for a minute and when I come back, I see this thread has gained about 2 more pages. I instinctively think "A trade went through!" Then I realize it's 8 pages of discussion on whether Gio is better than McCarthy. You guys love your debating, I'll give you that much. BTW, they can both go to hell if it means we're better this year. Exactly.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Nobody said Gio is better than BMACM right now. But BMAC isnt better than what we have right now. Hes not even the best guy on his team at the moment. Since we dont have any room for him, its a better investment to trade him because his value is higher than our other guys. Gio is a much more heralded prospect, was chosen higher, has better "stuff" than BMAC and has a better upside being left handed and with his pitches. BMAC was a good pitcher in the lower minors, and was decent in ST, but has been exposed in the majors and is not going to be ready yet. With the time we will wait through out existing rotation, BMAC wont get the chance he deseves. By the time we need to bring a guy up, Gio, or Ray may be ready. I understand everyone's attachment to BMAC, but look at the facts and whats better for the organization as a whole. Thank you.
  21. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) It's a crapshoot yes, but you're being a fool to give up on Brandon this soon while annoiting Gio the next coming. You're contradicting your own argument here buddy. You're talking about 96% of minor leaguers not making it, meanwhile, you are saying Gio has what it takes. This is just insanity from an ignorant person. Which is the point. We already know what Burnett is. Plus he still has room for improvement. I would trade Gio right away too, but BMac is in demand so I say out with his ass. I'm trying to win a WS and Burnett betters my chances of that happening.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Not even close defensively. Beltran is pretty good, but not as good as Rowand. Vernon has the tools, but is lazy defensively. Rowand is that good, no joke. He gets as good of jumps as anyone in baseball and flat saves runs. He ocassionally will throw the ball to the wrong guy (ever OFer does) but he's flat out great out there. Are you crazy?? Rowand is not the 3rd best defensive CF in the league. I'd take Griffey, Beltran, Jones, Wells, Hunter, Kotsay, Edmonds, Jeremy Reed, and Mike Cameron before I sniff Rowand. And that's just guys at CF.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Flat out....BMAC >>> GIO There is a reason when teams call the Sox they are asking for Bmac. I'm sick of all these people who think they have a clue how to evaluate talent and are ready to write off guys that are highly talented simply because they were rushed up to the majors and struggled. I'll trade Gio, I'd be really hard pressed to trade Brandon and I'd like to think I have a very thorough understanding of the Sox system. Gio has more pitches. Gio's pitches dance more than BMac. Bmac has a suspect change. Gio is left-handed. You could take BMac and I'll take Gio and I'd be willing to bet my team wins.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Put it this way...out of everyone in baseball, if I were GM, Vizquel is the one guy I'd over pay for. I'm talking about Valido and Gio for s*** sakes. He makes the every day lineup so much better and the move doubles by giving the Sox more depth at 3rd base, which is something they need. In a sense, acquiring Vizquel is almost like acquiring to players. You acquire a starting shortstop (Omar) and you acquire an ultimate utility guy (Uribe being allowed to move to this role). Plus he fits right into the style Ozzie wants and I think he'll mesh in great with the clubhouse. The next guy I'd overpay for is Brad Lidge (cause you'd have him for a while). I'd be giggling like a little girl if the Sox get Omar. Who's valido?
  25. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Gio is an A ball. And what the hell does "who actually will attack the zone" mean. Brandon's always had good control and always attacks the zone, that makes no freakin sense. Brandon does have good control, but his balls hang a lot. He doesn't like throwing his changeup in the zone for whatever reason. I see him topping out as a #3 pitcher which is what Burnett would be with. Except Burnett has much better stuff. Don't forget, we also got Buehrle, Garland and Garcia on this team. That leaves only two positions to fill if Contreras doesn't get resigned next year. I personally think Jose will be resigned to a smaller contract next year and Burnett would be the perfect guy to fill out the rotation. We're trying to win now. I could give a s*** less about BMac.
