Well basically here it goes. Trade BMac, Chris Young(place Contreras in here if necessary), Timo/Willie for AJ Burnett Flip AJ to Cincinnatti for Ken Griffey Jr. Trade Paul Konerko to San Diego for Brian Lawrence(or stick a lower level prospect in there and try for Adam Eaton) Why such crazy moves? Well, PK is the ultimate rally killer. Bases could be loaded and 1 out and he'll GDP. 2 outs with a man on 2nd and 3rd, and he'll K. Frankly we're sick of PK. For a power hitter, he really sucks. He's becoming what Sammy Sosa was for the Cubs last year. He'll give you the opposite of what you need. Very untimely hitting. Griffey would solidify the middle of the order. Put him behind or ahead of Frank. He doesn't only hit for HR's, but also likes to hit the ball period. We'll need someone like that in the playoffs because PK can't get that done. CF-Podsednik 2B-Iguchi CF-Griffey Jr. DH-Thomas 1B-Dye RF-Rowand C-Pierzynski 3B-Crede SS-Uribe Now why move PK? Because that little b**** would complain being demoted. So get rid of him. Plus everyone wants another SP. Padres surely would do PK for Lawrence since they are losing a 1B and if anything else, they could flip PK for someone else. Lawrence would give us a decent #5. SP: Buehrle Garcia Garland Contreras Lawrence We keep our depth intact and don't lose any MR pitching.

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) The Cell is called Coors Field East by some. It seems that when the weather warms up the ball really flies out of there. I heard that with the redesign of the park it would be hard to move the plate or the fences more than a few feet but I say do it. If you want to play Ozzie ball then let the park play to your strengths. Nope. The longball has benefitted us the most. Without it, this team would be averaging 0.68 runs at the Cell. That's not much of hyperbole either. Corpseball is officially back in season.

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) How many of our "prospects" have really panned out in recent years. I don't know much about the Padre's farm system, but all things being equal I'd say this is probably a good move for them. Peavy and Oliver Perez come to mind right away.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) s***. I'll join it anyways. I was at the game when Crede hit that 3 Run bomb against Detoilet. You still have to wear the Avvy of my choice if you lose. But win or lose I'll join Crede's Crew. Excellent.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) I disagree.. I think they need to call Up Bochard, he by far should get the starts Roosevelt Brown...I keep telling you guys. -
QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) Padres optioned third baseman Sean Burroughs to Triple-A Portland. We're still optimistic that Burroughs will end up as a solid regular someday, but this is a move the Padres had to make. The 24-year-old was hitting just .255/.327/.302 in 255 at-bats. If he's not traded, he'll return in September and act as a pinch-hitter. Jul. 23 - 3:44 pm et Was'nt there some people that liked him on this board? West Coast Crede offensively, just nowhere as good defensively.

QUOTE(black jack @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) I'll take that bet, but you have to eat my shoe Looks like we'll have a couple new members of Crede's Crew.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) Can we avoid extremes here? It seems like every time that somebody screws up we should "fire him" or "trade his ass". There was a thread the other day that Rowand sucks and we need to trade him, RIGHT NOW. Sort of ignored that he has the second highest average of the regular starters. Yeah, the play sucked. I knew Paul was out the second he rounded third. Everybody has brain cramps now and then, hopefully Cora learns from it. Rowand sucks!!!1!

stfu noo...just stfu!! just playing. Good post.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) That asking price will go down, much like Burnett's has. I strongly doubt it. He's on that Wagner/Philly type of deal. They don't want to trade him, but they will if someone overpays. Schmidt is going to take a big overpayment. Might as well keep Duque with the season Schmidt is having. Not that good of one if you don't know. If it was the Schmidt of year's past, then I'd say yes, go after him because I'm leery of Burnett, but we're talking about a different Schmidt.
-
Schmidt is also worse than Burnett and Contreras this year. The whole point of a deal is to better our chances this year. SF wants to major league pitchers(keyword being major) for Schmidt. I'm not willing to do that at all.
-
I'd give them BMac, Young and Baj and tell them to STFU and take it or be stuck with someone who's leaving at the end of the year.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) You would replace Konerko for Griffey, then put someone at 1st who has only played there ONCE in their career for the stretch run?? Bad moves... MVP Baseball logic It isn't MVP logic or else I would have said, trade for Tejada and put Uribe at 1B.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Pics.
-
I think he'll finish his career year. With that said, I think we should just rest him until mid-September.
-
Hopefully the Twins. For the love of God, it better be the Twins.
-
Not so fast. If you lose, you have to join Crede's Crew and if you already are a member, you have to put the Crede's Crew pic in your avy.
-
Again, no point in trading Contreras for him. Jose is still signed through next year and will be cheaper next year. I would trade BMac and Baj for him. Maybe Marte(only if we are somehow getting Wagner or EG).

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) still, he's an injury plagued player. That is not worth taking a risk for To me it is. This year we're trying to go all the way for it. Griffey is an impact player still whether you'd like to admit it or not. He'd be great for this team. He's been injury prone the last 3 or 4 years, yes. This year, no. He's healthy finally. He's doing pretty damn good too and is a left-handed power bat who also doesn't just swing for the fences. In my opinion, I'd take that risk any day of the week.
-
Oliver won't get traded. I will display an avatar of anyone's choice if he does. Anyone willing to take wagers?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) If people think that's a lot to give up for Randa, they might want to cover their eyes when they read what we'd have to give up for Burnett or Schmidt. Look at our top 20 prospects. I wouldn't give them 2 of them for Randa. That's my honest opinion. 10-20 is a mid level prospect essentially unless you're a team like the Brewers or Angels. Then that's a top prospect.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) BWAHAHAHAHAHA His troubles won't just go away. They have this year pal.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Odalis Perez wouldn't even be the 3rd best starter on this team. Odalis Perez is a better 4th/5th starter option than Jeff Weaver. Yes, but this whole move would be made so Contreras doesn't start in the playoffs. We can't face our own division if the division gets the wild card and more than likely not, we're going to be facing a really good offensive team(Bal, Red Sox, Yanks, Anaheim, Texas). Getting Odalis would pretty much defeat the purpose of getting a starting pitcher IMHO.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) Lets wait to see who the prospects are first. Don't matter, 2 prospects for Randa is pretty high. One of them has to be at least a mid level guy.
-
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) you all know the 1st game griffey plays for us, his hamstring explodes. i don't want him He's been healthy all year. Chill out. His bad luck is over. I'm convinced.
