Unis...
QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) I hated those sleavless ones.....I'll take the black anyday.....my personal fav is the grey road jerseys Yeah, most fans do for some reason. I have no idea why. I think we have the best sleaveless jerseys in the leagues.

yesterday's game
Going to tonight's game. We better end this losing streak now. Go get'em Marky B.

Unis...
Yeah, I love the sleaveless ones. They hardly ever wear them anymore. Instead they are overusing the black ones IMO.

rowand
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) Aaron Rowand is not a 2 hitter. He can't bunt, and he doesn't have a swing to move runners over. He also doesn't hit well down in the count, and doesn't have the patience to take as many pitches as you need with Pods on base. Rowand in the two hole is not a good idea. He seemed to excel in the 2 slot last year.

Livan Hernandez??
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) I think he is sick of playing for the (expos). I think so as well. This guy is a beast. Get him on the southside. I would happily trade BMac for him.

Alfonso Soriano
I like him, but again, as you said there is no where to put him. He doesn't like playing SS(he refused to in Texas and that's why Michael Young was moved to SS) and Tadahito can't anymore from what I hear.
-
rowand
I say put Rowand at 2 and Iguchi at 3rd. Iguchi gets to hit for power like he's accustomed to and we get to see if Rowand just needs to be in the 2 spot.

Alex Gonzalez, the Marlins one
QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 08:09 AM) hes a decent option, but i dont think hes THAT much of an upgrade, especially not to trade a lot for. like you said if they include him in the burnett deal i wouldnt have a problem with it. i think alex gonzlaez is pretty underrated. Bingo!

Ken Griffey Jr.
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) Do the Reds want to get rid of him, or do the fans? 95% of White Sox fans never want see Timo get another AB(/become starting RFer in Minnesota), but KW and Guillen and anyone who is anyone in that organization apparently wants to keep him. Both really.

Am I the only one?
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) The market seems so poor that I don't really know what kind of move we could make that could be described as "going for the kill". KGJr, Wagner, Guardado. Just a couple of names that come to mind.

Am I the only one?
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) I'd be lying if I said I haven't looked ahead to potential matchups in the playoffs or crap like that but do I think this race is locked up? Nope, until that magic number hits 0 the race is not over and I will never count the Twins out of anything. Bingo. I am still afraid of the Twins right now.

Baseball Tonight
I don't know. Stephen A. Smith was pretty good as a fill in for Jim Rome.

What Is Wrong With Rowand
Rowand for Ken Griffey Jr. I said it. Flame away if you want.
-
What Is Wrong With Rowand
I'm not so much worried about his defense as I am his offense.

Midseason Top 20 Prospects: 10-1
Damn good read.

Sox interested in Batista?
There's better options. I don't know if he's the first guy I would look at.

Ken Griffey Jr.
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) They do not like him yet they picked up his 2006 option this past off-season? Go to a Reds board. I'm a Reds fan, I know some things about them. They would like to get rid of Casey.
-
Ken Griffey Jr.
QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) Again, where are the Reds going to put Paul? Back to 3B? I don't think so. Well the Reds do not like Casey and plan on letting him go at the end of the season. Casey would probably ride the bench the rest of the way.

Ken Griffey Jr.
This was originally my idea(PK for KGF And Dye to 1B) and everyone shot it down so damn quickly. Funny how things change.

Contreras
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Since there are a lot of people in the game thread b****ing about him I'd thought I'd start this thread. Yes, he didn't pitch a good game tonight but he threw strikes. Jose today was getting ahead of hitters for the most part and he just got beat by Detroits hitters. He got hit hard today but he didn't beat himself. You will rarely see Jose give up a lot of runs when he's throwing strikes, this is probably the first game all year when he's pitched bad that the opposition beat him and he didn't beat himself. Basically what I'm trying to say is I'm not worried about this outing but rather kind of encouraged, this is two straight outings where he's had great control, if he throws strikes like he has the past two games he'll be a very good starting pitcher for us the rest of the year. Just wanted to get that out in the open and see how everyone else feels or I should say everyone who hasn't given up on JC yet. I strongly agree. Detroit just beat him tonight. He was K'ing guys and getting ahead in the count. Despite getting roughed up, I'd say it was a good outing.

My 2005 Chicago White Sox Experience
QUOTE(SS Gload @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) Yesterday was my first sox game since 2002. First of all, let me say that the organization has done a spectacular job on the renovations. The new roof looks great and so does the outside of the stadium. As usual, the sight lines were excellent. We had tickets on the 500 level right behind home plate. The atmosphere was great mainly because of the 37,000 fans in attendance. The game started slowly for the sox, but the bottom of the seventh was a magical moment, it gave me chills actually seeing Joe Crede hit like that. What A Game! I look forward to going to thursday's game against boston, and hopefully seeing another white sox victory. This has been a great start to my chicago vacation. Always good to hear stories. Glad you had a good time.

Comparing 2000 to 2005
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Let me insert something you forgot. A MAJOR difference between the two teams is the pitching. I disagre that a lot of our pitchers are having "career" years. Mark and Freddy are solid vets who in line with their career numbers. Jon is at an age when the majority of pitchers mature to their talents. In 2000, our pitching got HURT. We went into the postseason with no healthy starters. Our opening game was pitched by Jim "5 Inning" Parque. Our offense in 2000 was all or nothing, just like the last few years. They were too reliant on the 3-run homer. This year is different. I don't think people realize that enough. Faster, Smarter, Stellar Defense... They are completely two different teams. Just comparing batting averages does not paint a complete picture. Optimism is called for...not pessimism I don't understand that statement AT ALL. Our optimism is INCREDIBLY justified. After all the games I've gone too, the amazing comebacks I've witnessed, different heroes every night...Yeah...it's OK to think this is our year! Go ahead...refer to my opinion and enthusiasm like I am a Cub fan. I refuse NOT to enjoy this magical season. I agree. Our starting rotation isn't made up of guys having career years IMHO. Our defense is good. Our offense could be better. That's the only thing that scares me. That was the real problem in the playoffs. Our offense sucked.

Sox to give out socks....
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Ok, it looks like they changed things. In their recent press release, it says this: Friggin' Awesome. Now George Lopez is a celebrity. I'd like to see him visit Ozzie in the White Sox clubhouse.

God Do I hate Band wagon Jumpers
More money for the team so I don't care. As long as they're not crazy drunks. You could always educate some fans. Like I always say, you become a fan by becoming a bandwagoner first.
