Anyone know who throws the hardest stuff in the game?? I don't see Bobby Jenks in the game.
-
Heard it on ESPN yesterday actually from Peter Gammons himself.

QUOTE(Sam @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) If the sox acquire two arms before the deadline, I think Harris is the one to send down. He has been with us since 2001 and has yet to "breakout". Nothing special there. Ozuna can do it all. He's more consistent than Harris, and he can play 2B, SS and even the outfield. Everett's 11 HR gives us some pop off the bench. You obviously can't send Widger down because that leaves us with only one catcher. You mean, you're not confident in Paul's catching abilities??

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Since Loiaza's not available, it's a side point not worth quibbling over. But you don't see Loiaza walking 7 guys in one game with 3 wild pitches to boot. And yet pitching in the AL, he more than likely not would have worse numbers than Contreras.

http://www.kffl.com/team/47/MLB Apparently the White Sox are going to begin trying to resign Frank Thomas. That's always good news.
-
I heard Kevin Millar also wants to be traded since Olerud is taking up his time.
-
And I remember everyone wanting him so badly here. I'm happy to say I was one who didn't. I thought he was overrated and now he's just what he is, a below average player.

Welcome and nice avatar.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) OMFG! This is the biggest pipe-dream in the history of the universe but if the Sox could somehow do this and have a rotation of: Buehrle Garcia Garland Schmidt Burnett .........:faints: You're reading wrong I think. It says that if the Marlins don't get the ideal package, they would keep Damaso and take the prospects that come with him and combine them with their own prospects and trade for Jason Schmidt.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) So let me get this straight...this "Game" considers trading Uribe for Clemens or Crede for Clemens straight-up a possibility? I don't even see the point of playing. Just accepting the idea...I love our starting lineup. I love our bench. I love our starters. I love our bullpen. I love our clubhouse. There are people out there who would be upgrades over what we have...but the cost would be too damn high to get them. I wouldn't change a thing about this team right now. Not straight up for those guys obviously, but they would go in a package with others, most likely minor leaguers. Like Crede, BMac, Tracey for Chavez(hypothetically speaking). Sorry if some people think it's stupid, it's an off day and there's nothing to do. And "no one" is an acceptable answer.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) I'm not that mad about PK saying s*** but wtf good can come with it? Exactly. Like when he said Clayton's the best SS he's ever played with. Go tell that to Royce and not the media. A Mic or taperecorder should not be put in front of PK's face.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) I think people just get wowed with his "stuff", which of course is why KW traded for Jose Contreras last year when we'd likely be better off with Esteban Loiaza as our 4th starter. After reading all of these posts, I'm not sold on Burnett. 1) He likely won't sign, 2) if he does, he'll cost more than he's worth, thereby undermining team chemistry, 3) Florida will want too many high prospects, and 4) won't take Contreras in the deal, thereby leaving us with 6 starters eating up way too much of the payroll, and 5) he's shown no history of being healthy and pitching a lot of innings. In other words, the return on investment may actually be negative depending on what Florida will demand in return. I highly disagree. Loaiza is pitching in a pitcher's ballpark in the NL. Give him 1 more run that would be scored on him in the AL and he has a worse ERA than Contreras. Minus the last 3 of the last 4 starts, Contreras has a way better ERA than Loaiza.
-
Meh, I'm on the fence. I mean if we could give up what it looks like we would be giving up for Burnett, no doubt I do it, even if it's for a rental, especially with the White Sox supposedly looking heavily at Eddie Guardado. I don't know how he's going to help us much more than Contreras however. I mean, RockRaines had a good point and while I think Burnett is a better pitcher, it's not that bad of a comparison at all folks.
-
If you had to trade a current core guy on the squad for a chance at Rocket[hypothetically speaking] or for another guy that you think could extremely help this team, who would it be??? Here's the choices: Pods Arow Dye Crede Uribe Iguchi Konerko Pierzynski Thomas Anyone in our pitching staff minus Jenks and Walker.
-
Welcome. I can honestly say, you'll like it more here than at WSI. Not so strict or anal about everything.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Let's also remember that even if it was Yankee-haters who coalesced around Podsednik and put him over the top...he never would have become the "anyone but Jeter" candidate if there hadn't been a huge initial push of people voting for Pods on the first day and getting him within a hair of Jeter then. If Pods wasn't so close...he wouldn't have been a viable alternative candidate, and that alone means we did our job. Damn right and I thank the rest of Soxtalk for that. I love it. Hopefully he gets in the game and steals 2nd, 3rd and home for the heck of it.
-
I think it would've been better not said at all personally. Just like when he said that Royce Clayton was the best SS he's ever played with. Some people shouldn't be talking to the media.
-
Got this from WSI. Apparently, this is what PK had to say about Pods getting on the AS team: "I think there's a lot of Yankee fans and also a lot of people who hate the Yankees. It could be not there's a lot of Podsednik fans, but there are a lot of people who hate Derek Jeter and the Yankees in general." I'll admit that it has truth to it, but why the heck does he have to open his mouth?? I wouldn't be so mad about it if this was the first time, but he's said stupid s*** when s*** didn't need to be said this year already. I hope we get someone else at 1B than this jack. BTW, sorry if it has been posted already.
-
Dye has been the guy I've been asking for at 1B for some time. I remember being shot down by a lot of people too. Like when I proposed us trading PK for Griffey and sticking Dye at 1B. Eh well. Hopefully he could give Paul a few days off when he needs it. And if the White Sox could resign Everett for what he's getting paid now or slightly higher, I think I would keep him for at least a year and have Anderson be mentored with the big club and have him be the 4th OF.
-
Wasn't he a starter at one point too?? Anyway, I remember watching a special on him that when Anaheim signed him to a minor league deal, the game they scouted him in he hit 99, 101, 99, 100. As for Guardado, Peter Gammons said we and the Nationals have been making hard pushes for him.
-
Hell Yeah for Scott Podsednik. Hopefully Francona actually uses him and he steals a couple of bases and see if the haters keep talking. No matter what though, he's an all-star and the only team that needs to know that is the White Sox.
-
Wow. Normally I would say with his average, it's bad, but it's basically a HR every 2 games he plays.
-
Great Job SS
-
It's funny how Yanks fans are pissed, but a Cubs fan is defending Pods(pretty good might I add) and one Yanks fan is calling out others for not showing that much passion before the voting ended. It's true. If they think Jeter deserved it, they should've voted more. NY has a bigger community than Chicago.
-
QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) explain...? Somebody from soxtalk.com emailed Hawk & Dj and told them we voted for Pods a ton. Honestly, I don't think Pods wins without this board.
