  1. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) who knows, maybe they pick up a star in free agency They are way over the cap. They're probably going to cut Allan Houston and save a good amount of change, but they'll still be over the cap with that. The most they could offer is the MLE and stars don't settle for MLE.
  2. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Lidge doesn't just miss bats, he misses great bats. He could blow away A-rod and Sheffield. I'd mortgage the farm for him. I think I would too. I think all Count and El Duque is perform decent enough to win every 4th or 5th day which they have done better than what most thought in ST. Playoff rotation would probably be Buehrle, Garcia, Garland. I think Count and El Duque would be excellent out of the bullpen.
  3. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) You are wrong. Contreras deserves THE SAME strike zone as Maddux. What is this, segregation? Seperate, but equal strike zones? If it is a strike for one guy, it damn well should be a strike for the other guy. Experience should not factor into how 'big' your strike zone is. Does the rule book say the strike zone is from point A to point B, unless your name is Maddux, Pedro or Santana, then you can add 4 inches to every side? I don't think so. I agree. I think it's BS how people think certain player should receive calls. It was pretty obvious from the first couple of pitches that Contreras through that the K Zone was going to be a damn small one for Contreras. I'm fine with that, but Maddux was hitting the same corners Contreras was and he was getting that called a K. It was blatantly obvious that the K zone was much bigger for Maddux than it was for Contreras. As for his other pitches. His power pitches are good enough to set up his forkball. Hell, if they were thrown for first pitch strikes(and he actually gets calls) he would flat out dominate.

  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) If the Yankees make the playoffs, it will be entirely because they outscored people. They do not have the pitching to make the playoffs, barring a major trade or two. The old adage is that good pitching beats good hitting. I would much rather face the Yankees with our pitching staff than Boston, who has some pitching of their own. Exactly. If they become red hot, it's because their offense and the lack of pitching in their division minus Boston. I'm confident we could beat the Yanks with our pitching. Boston, however, has the offense and the pitching. I'm not so confident in beating them if it came down to a 3 game series(assuming we play them in the 1st round).
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Whats is the hitting with RISP and 2 outs. The clutch stat Jim. There is a huge difference there. Crede is .167 and Randa is .321. How many times has that happened?
  7. I still think it will be Ohio State. It will be between OSU and WF.
  8. I'm hoping the Yanks miss the playoffs. Actually, I rather have Boston miss. Boston's offense is starting to pick up and with Schilling coming back, they're a dangerous team to face in the playoffs.
  9. Only if we won today. Anyway, I hope they get swept and we win tommorow. We have to win these games now and sweep the Tigers since we have to play in Oakland next weekend.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) The thing about Curry he was really starting to hit a groove it seemed when he had to be disabled because of his heart.... And I think Skiles influence on him has gotten him to become a much better player and I think if his heart truly is not a problem and we do resign the giants we will see a huge huge improvement from them since last year. Good thing is Curry seems enthusiastic about working out I agree. His last 10 games, he was becoming a beast. LeBron wants him according to ESPN.
  11. I would say Amare's defense is average at best. He even admitted it when they got eliminated and said that he'll make sure he improves his defensive play. That's what I love about him. He has fire and determination to improve. Next year I expect him to make a couple of steps into being a defensive beast.
  12. Purdue won't be much of anything. Brandon Kirsch is an alright QB, but he isn't like Kyle Orton when healthy. Plus they lost Taylor Stubblefield. I honestly don't see them winning more than 6 games. I think Iowa has a chance to run the table in the Big Ten. They have boatloads of talent and their schedule isn't too tough. If they get past OSU and Michigan, they'll be fine.
  13. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) ESPN says not so fast........ may still happen, but all parties seem to be denying anything is a done deal at this point. My question is, why did Conley Jr. eliminate IU from consideration so early? Probably he's not so sure who his coach will be after next year. Mike Davis is still on thin ice and most think he'll be fired after next year. He doesn't want to be stuck in limbo and with a coach he won't like. If he transfers, he'll have to waste a year sitting down.
  14. With his numbers, he definately deserves to get in. I don't know if he'll be first ballot, but no question, he was one of the best power hitters of his era.
  15. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) you can ALWAYS find a wife in the clasifieds. Someone claim these tickets. I would if I could, but I can't so do it guys.
  16. Good for Mike, but I don't miss him and won't.
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 18, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) The Herminator. That's reserved for Chris Widger aka The Widgenator I go with Hermy.
  18. You have officially been put in Crede's Crew.
  19. Schmidt, even with his last 2 starts, does not deserve to be the 2 on this team. So far Freddy and Jon would go ahead of him in my book. I don't even know if I would put him before Count. Anyway, talking about this is nonsense. I don't see KW going after Schmidt. I see more Lilly than anyone else.
  20. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) I switch off a fair amount between this site and the MLB Sox site, though I've posted a lot more in the past. But the one thing that drives me away from here is how long it takes to wade through to find something interesting to read. In between are all these huge personal photos and tag lines and a lot of stuff that may have looked cool the first time you put it up, but after seeing it repeated 10 times in a single thread, becomes awfully tiresome. Y'all can shout me down if you want. But give me a site where I can read 5 messages in a row on one screen of my computer and don't spend my entire time scrolling down, down, down just to find something. Overall I think the posters here are more knowledgeable baseball fans and have better analyses, but frankly it takes way too long to find it. Especially when so many posts are just chit chat and don't really add anything to the discussion. For example, I just looked at the composite trade post. I think that's a good idea. But the whole first page was filled with nothing but puff. Not a single trade idea or analysis. Out of 4 pages, there weren't 3 threads worth reading. Everything else was just empty chatter. And I think the trend is not good. A couple of years ago, I felt like the ratio of seeing a post worth reading to those of zero value was much better. Sorry, that's just the way I feel. WITCH!!!!!!!
  21. Gload was there??? I didn't notice him.

O'Hare and Midway. Seriously, I love O'Hare's and I think Midway's stepped up their game.
