  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 14, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) A pats/packers superbowl would be a blast to watch. I agree. Would be a huge offensive game. Not to mention best two qbs in NFL this year and best offenses. The last matchup I want is San Diego vs New York, we would never hear the end of that Manning for Rivers swap. Also add the fact I hate both qbs
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 08:20 PM) IMO, the question is never the weapons. The question is always the trenches. If you've gotten this far, you've got the weapons. The question is going to be...can the Packers D-Line get anything through near Tom Brady, and can the Packers O-Line hold up to Seymour and company after they've had 2 weeks of rest to heal. Nobody has really gotten any pressure on Tom Brady, and even when they do he throws it to one of his weapons (Moss, Welker, Stallworth, Watson, Faulk, Maroney). For the most part ever since that Eagles game teams have halted their offense if anything but it still hasn't been enough. Same kind of goes with Favre, hes had good protection for the most part this season and has numerous offensive weapons like Brady, their defense playing solid this year is what has really been the difference maker for Green Bay this seaosn. As a Packer fan this couldn't work out more perfect, got perfect weather for the Seattle game and don't have to play the Cowboys, not to mention get home field vs the Giants which could be a bad thing since the Giants have a 9-1 record on the road. Shame the Colts lost, I dont think the Chargers even stand a remote chance and Id actually prefer the Pats to blow them out because I absolutely dislike Phillip Rivers.
  3. Anybody watch the new Terminator: Sara Connor Chronicles. I thought it was pretty good and will probably continue to watch it. Thoughts?
  4. Just too easy, hopefully the Giants win even though I absolutely hate Eli Manning so the Pack can have a home game. Ryan Grant looked great today besides the first couple minutes of the game.
  5. If your gonna be looking at Bartolo Colon you mind as well shift your interest to Jason Jennings who really is know better and is younger plus his arm isnt 'shot', hes probably just as cheap and more serviceable than Bartolo.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) Ok, cool. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to mess me up. Might be an improvement
  7. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) A deal might happen between the Angels and Sox(although highly unlikely), but it will not be the trade listed above. Here is a deal that might work for both teams: Sox get: Santana, Speier, GMJ, Morales, and possible cash(for GMJ contract) Angels get: Konerko and Crede The Sox get a legit CF who can leadoff, one of the top set-up guys in baseball, a young starter with upside, and a potential 1B of the future. The Angels get an upgrade at 1B and 3B, get rid of GMJ, and avoid a logjam. I might be the only one but I would not like that deal one bit no offense. I want nothing to do with GMJ even if his contract is paid, perhaps because he was caught and I just don't have respect for any players using illegal substances, and it would just make no sense to get him because that would show were still bummed about missing out on Hunter, lets face it they are the same player. Speier, maybe its just me but a 34 year old reliever whos only good years have been in Tor and LAA, I dont think he would pitch well in our park and Id rather keep going with what we have in the bullpen. Im just not overly excited about getting an older player in return. Id stick with the growing pains in our minors for this season, besides I think we are alright in the bullpen right now with Jenks, Linebrink, Wasserman, Thornton, and whomever we go with from there whether its Broadway or Day so forth. As for Morales and Santana, its a toss up, I would like to have Santana in a deal regardless because we need a starter, as bad as hes been he might be a safer bet than Danks or Floyd at this moment. Id really want Kendrick mostly because I think he will be a great player or Figs.
  8. If your plan is to do any kind of working out/cardio and you want to lose weight drink lots of water, anywhere from a 1/2 gallon up a day. Helps you lose a lot of retained water weight and helps you lose depending on your weight 2-3 lbs a week. Running is still the best cardio and situps/crunches which you already know.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) Sheff also just turned 39, and IRod 36. And there's now drug testing. I believe both were already caught with substances in previous times they used them or at least just Sheffield.
  10. Hmmm, and I would make fun of my parents for bringing along cups on vacation.
  11. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) It's spelled Baron and he hardly played because he didn't show up in the first quarter and by the end of that the game was already over. I have a buddy who lives in SF and is becoming a Warriors fan (just moved from Chicago), and he and I both question when Wright is going to get some run. I know figuring out Don Nelson is like curing the common cold, but any idea if his PT will increase? From Yahoo.... He logged 16 mins vs Portland so maybe that could mean something.
  12. Anyone see that Kenny George kid out of UNC Asheville, 7'7", blocking machine. If he had any speed or agility he would be an easy top pick in the draft. Might be interesting if this team makes the tourney and doesn't play an up tempo offense.
  13. Congrats, you just edged me to take 1st.
  14. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) I thought the Capitol One Bowl was great! That was a great game. For the most part I would agree with the majority that this bowl season was kind of watered down with all the lopsided matchups. The only games I really enjoyed were the Gator Bowl, Motor City, Orange Bowl, Champs Sports, Chick Fil A, Outback. Thats about it though. I would have to imagine USC and Georgia are pretty big favorites next year to reach the NTL Championship game both teams are returning a number of players for next year, I suppose WVU if Pat White and Slaton return.
  15. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) Dumb play calling almost lost them the game. They all of a sudden seemed to forget they were a running team in the second half. Yeah they definitely needed to keep the run going in the second half, they were not as conservative as I thought they would be heading in to the third and fourth quarter. Im also surprised at how much they used MJD with how hot Fred Taylor has been recently. This was a nice win overall for Jacksonville franchise because I believe this is only their 3rd playoff win from what I remember their other two wins coming back when they had the Jimmy Smith and Brunell combo beating Buffalo and Denver and eventually losing to New England of all teams.
  16. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 10:56 PM) Oh wow, they had similar stats. OMG, wow, that is amazing... I don't give a s***. Petit is a nice guy to have in the rotation and someone I can see being a no. 3, but DLS was much more raw and put up those stats with only 2 pitches. With good coaching and the addition of a changeup, DLS will be an ace. Plain and simple. He has close to the best stuff in all of the minors. And I suppose you watch him pitch on a daily basis to make this assumption that he has the best stuff in minors and that you know all the other minor league pitchers, give me a break.
  17. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) These are the Jaguars that are going to beat New England? Theres that slight chacne Jacksonville's RBs didn't do so hot today, if the weather is cold enough in New England that it turns into a running game then the Jaguars could make a game of it. So I guess if your looking to see an upset hope for lots of snow in Foxboro. Just a hunch.
  18. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 01:17 PM) Mendenhall to the pros, no surprise. Hurts the Illini. I really cant see them sniffing a BCS game without Mendenhall next year unless they have a solid RB backup in place I dont know of. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) I still never heard why Steve Slaton did not play in the Fiesta Bowl for West Virginia. Anyone? Anyone? Buehler? He got injured in the first half of the game.
  19. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) Cubs traded Angel Pagan for some scrubs, weird as he is a cheap competent backup, maybe they just wanted to clear some room. Kind of surprising he is a nice backup outfielder to have. If I remember correctly he had some huge hits against us last year in the crosstown series.
  20. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 11:08 PM) whats the lesson? Improve the BCS format I suppose. None of these games have been close and I dont expect these next two games KU vs Tech or LSU vs Ohio St to be close either. Eventually somethings gotta give where they come up with a playoff format but people have been asking for that for years now and it still hasnt happened.
  21. Hopefully these 3 blowouts so far in Rose, Sugar and Fiesta bowls teach BCS a lesson.
  22. QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 10:48 AM) Such as... What would your plan be? It's easy to attack in a vacuum and say "this guy can't help us" Trade for hitting? Trade for starting pitching? Trading for defense? I think that the relief was the greatest weakness and would be the area I would go first. I think he was hinting by before the 8th inning he meant a long reliever.
  23. How many points did you win with? Just curious because wondering if my 144 total (with spread) in my league would have won the soxtalk league. Guess Ill join but if we dont get many people Im out.
  24. Also rather late, but generally the best idea in keepers is to try and keep players by minority positions such as catcher, third base and second base. Obviously this doesnt come into effect when its like Arod vs Martin per se but when its a toss up good strategy to follow. Id say you made the right selections.
  25. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) I don't see it when I click the link... I get everything but the Burke to the Sox rumor.... Can I get confirmation from a second clicker? This is all there is on Burke, doesn't really say that there were talks from what I took from this piece....
