Why Does the Casual Baseball Fan LOVE the Cubbies?
ChWRoCk2 replied to SouthSidePride05's topic in The Diamond Club
I agree with you Critic but also.... The atmosphere at or around Wrigley feels sort of like your in college. Carefree, nobody really cares about the team whether they win or lose. The field itself is historic and everyone wants to see it. -
How many games do the Sox need to win in this streak
ChWRoCk2 replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Theres only 10 games left until break so we would have to win all of them to be above 500. Thats not going to be easy, besides how many games back do we have to be to be considered in contention for the playoffs. Id say 8 games back might be the closest we get until break and thats assuming Cleveland and Detroit lose. -
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) Best Park: Camden Yards - Has everything you want in a park. Has the perfect blend of old school ballpark with modern conveniences. Others have copied it, but haven't mastered it like Camden. Plus, Orioles fans seemed quite pleasant. Oakland is getting a new ballpark that looks like it has a Camden Feel to it. Cisco Field Check out some of the renderings, has the warehouse feel and looks like a nice ballpark.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) I heard they can't take on anymore salary past this year. Is that true? Also, Texas better get something good from the Cubs -- he's probably going to be the best reliever dealt in the next two months, and there should be no rush to trade him. If the Cubs want him now, Texas better be demanding a ransom (Pie). Alot of teams are looking at Gagne, Yankees, Indians, Cubs and Braves. Whoever gets him is going to have to give up some talent because it appears he is healthy and thus far has been dominant this season.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) The problem I have is NO ONE held their arm out to signal the obstruction Did you not see the play, 3rd base and 2nd base ump pointed to it.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) That's why I don't know what the f*** fathom is talking about. Where is he saying Uribe touched somebody? It wasn't after he tagged out the guy at second and started the first rundown -- he got out of the way and pointed towards homeplate. Uribe got in the way of Pagan at 2nd and they collided right as Pagan stepped on the base. At the least Derosa shouldve been out.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) I think we should trade for Jqaue Jones. I think that he would really cap the year of nicely. Um green? Why the hell would we want another hitter that swings for the fences add to the fact he cant hit? Seriously why? If its to get under cubs fans skins, Im sure they would love to get rid of him.

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) I picked Ramirez but that's only because it makes me happy when my favorite team wins baseball games. What are you implying? That having a huge slugger would win us more games? If thats the case why arent we winning? I chose Erstad. I would rather have a player of his type kind of like an Ichiro or Johnny Damon hell even Curtis Granderson. I would say all sort of play somewhat similar, of course their numbers are different but Id rather have a player on the field who gives the full 100% than someone like Manny who definitely dogs it.

1B- Ortiz (Bos) Justin Morneau (Min) Kevin Youkilis (Bos) 2B- Polanco (Det) Brian Roberts (Bal) SS- Jeter (Nyy) Carlos Guillen (Det) Michael Young (Tex) 3B- Rodriguez (Nyy) BJ Upton (TB) Mark Teahen (KC) C- Rodriguez (Det) Victore Martinez (Cle) OF- Suzuki (Sea) Gary Sheffield (Det) Tori Hunter (Min) OF- Guerrero (Laa) Magglio Ordonez (Det) Alex Rios (Tor) OF- Ramirez (Bos) Grady Sizemore (Cle) SP Danny Haren (Oak) John Lackey (LAA) Johan Santana (Min) Josh Beckett (Bos) Justin Verlander (Det) Sabathia (Cle) Erik Bedard (Bal) James Shields (TB) RP JJ Putz (Sea) Bobby Jenks (Chw) Krod (LAA) For the most part I agree with your choices but Texeira isnt returning before the all star break so next best choice would be Michael Young. Also Carmona as good as hes been I dont think will make it, Shields and Bedard both deserve a spot. Catchers was tough because Vmart is having a career year and so is Posada, I hope Irod gets kicked from the voting so both Posada and Victor can go because I just dont think Pudge should go.

Was it a more current episode? Everytime I see it its an older one. Ever since Tom Arnold left frankly I just stopped watching it.

1408 ^Kind of looking forward to this movie. Then again Im a big Stephen King fan. So far its getting good reviews and from the trailer looks to have lots of twists and stuff, surprisingly its only PG-13.

Terry Hoeppner passed away this morning
ChWRoCk2 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Wow, its a shame because I think they were just about to turn the corner this year at IU. Hopefully the players recover well wish the organization the best even though I favor Purdue. -
QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) I really did like Ocean's 13. I'll agree with your assessment that's it's better than #2, but not as good as #1. But, then again, what sequel or threequel is ever better than (or even as good as) the original? Not many, so it didn't disappoint me at all. It did jump around a lot, but that's just the nature of the movie. I really want to watch it again when it comes out on DVD, so I can try to catch more of what's going on. I bet if I could remember Oceans 12 I would have caught onto the beginning quicker but I still love these technical prank type movies QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) I agree. When I went to see Ocean's 13 with some of my buddies, we were all like "Holy S***! That looks so badass." Definitely plan on seeing it when it comes out. I'm also curious about that Will Smith movie coming out in December, I believe, where he's supposedly the last man on Earth. Looked like it could be pretty good. I mean, it does have Will Smith in it afterall. Yeah that movie with Will Smith looks like it could be a good one. Definitely looking forward to that. Based on a book also never read it though.

QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) speaking of the all star game, why is it in san fran this year? it was in pitt last year, why another NL city? I think it goes to the city with the highest bid. At first I thought they alternated AL to NL each year but thats not the case. I like it in San Fran, really nice park, home run derby should be fun with the bay right there and all of the people clammering for the balls that hit the drink. Should be fun.

Danny Richar appearently is not much of a fielder either anymore than Juan is, and his arm is supposed to be just as good. This is just from his report though.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) Lee missed on the one punch he got in and Chris Young missed both punches he threw at Lee as well. Marcus Giles did a great job of getting getting his pitcher out of there and then separating the 2 groups of players. Carlos Zambrano just ran out there like a f***ing maniac throwing punches at anyone who could get within reach of. What a f***ing nutjob that guy is. Alfonso Soriano started all of this bulls*** yesterday with his ridiculous twirl and moonwalk to first base after a homerun late. No s***, god I hate Soriano, he does so many things just to shove it in teams faces, his stupid hop catch, bat flick of the wrist after homer, cocky player. That moonwalk yesterday was just pathetic. MLB seriously has to start handing out more serious punishments for this stuff, for mature players this is pathetic.
