QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 08:24 AM) Well please enlighten me. Show me in any set of stats how our offense doesnt suck. Last in just about every category except homers and runs. OK, our offense sucks big time. We will never win the World Series this year with this pathetic offense. Why don't we just dump the White Sox and go root for the Red Sox now since they have the most lethal hitting lineup in BOTH leagues? Go ahead JUMP!

If this is doable, by all means, I would love the move.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 06:41 AM) man, doesn't take long for the bandwagon to sputter does it. For those of you who are complaining and b****ing about the way the Sox are currently playing, why don't you jump off the bandwagon? Damn, we still have the best record. We still are leading our division by 10 focking games. We lost last night game by ONLY ONE RUN, and we lost to the best hitting team in both leagues. Suck it up or jump off the bandwagon! Your choice.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Go back in time exactly one year. Replace the name AJ Burnett with Kris Benson. Kenny is playing the game right. The Sox are not as desperate as other teams, so why jump into the bidding war this early? Wait until the last few days for the cloud water to clear before jumping into. PS. However, Burnett and Vizquel more than likely will propel the Sox deep into the playoff, maybe even to the World Series. GO SOX

Kinda sad to see Shingo go. Here's an excerpt of a Suntimes article regarding the departure of Shingo. Let's see what Iguchi said: "He was a teammate to me, and he was like my older brother,'' Iguchi said through an interpreter. ''And whenever I had a problem, something I didn't know or didn't understand about being new here, Takatsu was always there to help me out. He was like my friend. ''No, there was no talk of this. I would have liked it if me and Shingo could have gotten a championship together. It was more comfortable to be here with Shingo around. It's definitely a certain feeling of lonesomeness not having him here.'' This is what I have been afraid of. I wonder how Iguchi will react to this on the field?

QUOTE(palesox38 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) My feeling is that, as the best team in baseball, we shouldn't stand pat when it comes to trades. I'm not saying we should make a trade just to make one, but I think you need to make the team better if you want to make it to the World Series. Look at what the Cards did last year, they traded for Larry Walker, but did they really need him? I really think that we should try and get an SP/3B. If Burnett goes to the O's, I think we really should to make a push for Ted Lilly and possibley Joe Randa. On another note: I was listening to ESPN Radio last night and Gary Miller said that other American League teams should be terrified of the fact that the Sox are probably going to make a big trade. I have a feelings that Kenny is waiting for July 30th before he makes his moves. The asking price right now is just too unreasonably high. Why pay high now when you can get cheaper as we get closer to the trade deadline?

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) I think it is a good trade for the Cubs.... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Why is it teams are just giving Henry what he wants????

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Did exactly what we need from the 5 starter. The Duke did a fine job. Geez, do you guys remember how many runs our last year 5th starter(s) allowed a game? I'm very excited for this current team as well as next year. Our pitching will be fine for at least this year and next. And that would mean that we are in the pennant race for two years straight. Should Kenny pull a couple of right trades to get us another good starting pitcher and SS, we can move El Duque to bullpen, and we will have backup for shortstop as well. Dream: Burnett and Vizquel... Here is to this current team and our great future.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Dude, that's so dumb. Trade away all that's clutch and not even ending up with Mackowiak? (Pause for reverence.) Stoopid. Why the hell the O's and Pirates want to give so many good players to the Marlins for Burnett and Lowell? Damn, I'm happy KW didn't get suckered into this trade!

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) This concern's me come playoff time, I think the Sox would do better playing on the road, but it looks like they will get homefield advantage all the way...........If they make it It is really a concern comes playoff time with this kind of terrible hitting and leaving men on base. Why couldn't Crede bunt both over instead of a strike out? I really feel that we need at least one more good bat in the playoff.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) UGH! What is going on with Frank? He has been so terrible lately. A wasted sacrifice by Iguchi!

Don't look now, but here come the A's. Man, why couldn't they just go away! The A's now are only 3 games out of the Wild Card. The A's are pretty hot right now. Should the A's win the WC, I don't think I want the Sox to have the best record. Do we owe the A's in our previous life or something?

QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Should Contreras continue his quality pitching like yesterday and El Duque feeling strong, I think we should hold off on those starting pitcher trades. If El Duque pitches well next Monday, it's going to be very tough for KW to make his decision. When we get closer to the July 31st trading deadline and if both of Contreras and El Duque continue to pitch well, I would love to have the tradings for Wagner and Randa. With these two acquisitions, we will do well the rest of the way and deep into the playoffs. GO SOX Oops! Kinda forget the link: http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-ssep15.html Marte back; Hernandez feeling strong July 15, 2005 CLEVELAND -- The White Sox activated Damaso Marte from the disabled list Thursday, while Orlando Hernandez pronounced himself stronger than he was in spring training. Marte filled the spot vacated when left-hander Kevin Walker was sent back to Class AAA Charlotte after Sunday's game. Hernandez is expected to start Monday at home against the Detroit Tigers, his first appearance since June 14. He likely will replace reliever Bobby Jenks on the roster. Hernandez made a rehab start for Charlotte on Sunday, giving up one run on four hits in four innings. He had two strikeouts and took the loss. ''I'm feeling good,'' Hernandez said Thursday. ''I threw Sunday in the minor leagues, four strong innings. I felt very good and I threw every pitch. The next day I felt good. I threw a bullpen [session Thursday] and felt strong. I'm ready for the next start.'' Hernandez, 7-2 with a 4.88 ERA in 11 starts, has had two stints on the disabled list because of shoulder soreness. His latest injury was diagnosed as shoulder inflammation. ''Days ago I throw long toss with Jose Contreras,'' Hernandez said. ''He said, 'Hey, I think you threw long toss today better than all of spring training.' And I throw with him every day in spring training. [Pitching coach Don] Cooper said during the bullpen [session], 'This is good.' I'm feeling good.'' Marte, who was out since June 27 with an inflamed left trapezius, said he has been at full strength for five days and no medication was necessary during his recovery.

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:49 AM) Crede can be replaced. As good as his defense is, we have capable stopgaps. The solution is this simple. Uribe to 3B, Ozuna at SS. Done and done. Ozuna cannot be any worse offensively than Crede, and Ozuna has speed. I'm nearly tired of Crede. As a matter of fact, call me negative, but Crede Schmede. A huge component of Sox's winning is its defense. Whether you like Crede or not, it's best to have Crede manning his 3B post. I feel much safer with him being there. But if his back is going to give him continuous problems, it's time for KW to trade for Randa or Vizquel.

QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 05:00 AM) The A's will end up winning the WC and it's the run that they're on now(that'll last past the deadline) that'll get them there. Beane has no reason to sell off Zito right now and as we're seeing his actually going into buying mode instead. Gosh, if the A's end up winning the WC, let's just say I don't want our Sox team to have the best record. Let Boston have the best record and play against the A's, while we just duke it out with the Angels'.

QUOTE(marsh @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) If anyone was scouting contreras and marte tonite I'm sure they were very impressed. Meanwhile Burnett pitches pretty bad. Man, this is such a tough call. Burnett pitched terribly tonight, and to give up Contreras, Marte and Crede for Burnett and Lowell is pretty tough! Such tough decision!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Um, it's a 4 game series. I know it's a 4-game series. What I meant was 2 out of the last remaining 3 games MINIMUM!

WAY TO GO JOSE. 2 OUT OF 3 MINIMUM!

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Yay, let's give Victor more power. Why can we not ride a hot hand? Must we criticize every single move that OG makes. Come on. Stay the hell out of his job. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) This is all bulls***. Every single one of them is to blame. Clearly the father, but the mother is obviously stupid. "Tooken," c'mon. Then, there's the friend. "Uh, maybe you shouldn't box your son." What the f*** is that? Somebody get off your ass and DO something. God, it just pisses me off. I can guarantee you if I ever saw somebody doing that to their kid, especially one of my friends, his ass would be going to the hospital instead of the kid. Hopefully someone shoots this prick in the head before he ever gets his day in court, so the government doesn't have to waste any more money on him. The mom should go to jail for the rest of her life or die, for all I care. Edit: Sorry for going overboard. Milkman, I second you on that! Let's see who is the REAL sissy when the kid's father is being sent to prison.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 07:55 AM) I know...but in the grand scheme of things, he sucked...he finished that year 14-7...piece of trash "In the grand scheme of things," any pitcher who wins 14 games DEFINITELY is not a piece of trash! Baldwin might be a piece of trash for his career, but he was far away from being that that year.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 06:20 AM) The Trib called Pods "Moonlight". I like it, and I hope it sticks. Let's hope this first All-Star appearance of Pods will lead to many more...

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) Well well well, looks like Buehrle will get himself an All-Star WIN!!! If the final score is 7-3, would Buehrle still get the win?
