  1. Just an update. I was at the C-G graduation Saturday and the loudest and longest-lasting applause was for Allen Lee. As much as I thought he was an idiot for writing the essay the week of the VT shooting, I am glad he was cheered. Not because people support what he did, but because he has had it rough the last few weeks and at least on his graduation, in which he graduated in the top 10%, he deserved a cheer recognizing that he worked hard for 4 years despite a really moronic moment.
  2. The Sox have won 7 straight division championships ..... ON PAPER!
  3. I really liked it when Artie took over for Jackie. I think he is really funny and seemed to be "real." Listening to Howard, you know he is BS 90% of the time. He cares only about himself. Anyways, I like Artie and look forward to seeing him somewhere else.
  4. QUOTE(maggliopipe @ May 25, 2007 -> 07:33 AM) The thought did cross my mind, given the island's healing powers and the fact that his dad's coffin/body was in the plane. I think it's great that even though Ben's been exposed as a liar and a POS, I STILL find myself hoping the Losties will listen to him. Case in point, his plea for them to not use the satellite phone. This is a testament to a superb acting job. And Kate looks pretty hot with some makeup on. Even if the people on the ship are the "bad" guys, wouldn't you take your chances knowing someone from the outside world is coming. That there is an actual way off the island. One other thing I have thought recently is: Why are they always finding new areas of the island. If you were stuck for 90 days and every few days discovered a new hatch or something, wouldn't you send out a team to explore every inch of the island just in case there is something like .. oh I don't know, a radio tower. Like when they found the cable going into the water in the first year, no one thought to go in the water and look, or follow the cable into the jungle. Same thing with the station that had the TVs, where Eko died. You wouldn't want to hang out there? Even if it took a month, you would want to track the shoreline around the entire island.
  5. I will be at the Cary-Grove graduation for a family member on Saturday. I will update on what the reaction is when his name is announced.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2007 -> 09:26 AM) What an incredible episode. The big detail that blew my mind was Jack referring to his dad like he was still alive. I wonder if that was just a drunken slipup, or if that was a big tip to the future? I know I wasn't the only one hoping Jack killed Ben after Ben told Tom to kill the 3 hostages. I was really surprised that he didn't, because what leverage did Ben have to stay alive? The hostages were dead, Ben had no way left of contacting the outside world, or anyway to get anyone off of the Island. I was shocked they let him live. The scene with Kate at the end was incredible. I think everyone's jaw dropped when it was her, and not the Ex who came walking up. But with Kate, how is she not in jail? If she got rescued, shouldn't she still have had those pesky murders hanging over her head? I still want to know who the funeral was for. I guess there are a few possibilities if you think about it. The most convincing to me is Ben. After that I would guess Locke, because he kept trying to make sure they couldn't get off of the Island. I watched the episode after Am Idol and the Sox game and still woke up at 5am. I loved this episode. I literally got chills when it looked like the future with Kate and Jack. I am a little confused how Mikail was able to obtain SCUBA gear so fast to go after Desmond. And is Penny just randomly sending messages to that station for no reason? It just seems weird. What would have been best was to wait for all 6 seasons to complete and then pick a cold, snowy long weekend to stay in and watch it straight through. Is Jack's dad really dead? Wasn't his body on the plane? Didn't Jack find the coffin a few years ago? 9 months for another episode. I started to hate the show when it came back in February. Now I can't wait.
  7. I am glad Jordin won. For some reason when they were singing the Sgt. Pepper's tunes at the end, I was sure that McCartney was going to come out and sing a song and announce the winner. Oh well. Hey look, it was Joe Perry and Sanjaya.
  8. Jordin sang well. Blake Beatboxed well. They both sang the winning songwriter song. Whoever wrote that song should be forced to listen to Blake's version of it non stop for a week. Whew what a bad, bad song. I think Jordin will win, but who knows.
  9. Well obviously you have to weed through the Neanderthals here, but here is my perspective. When I was 23 and I was dating a girl 21, she and I were both out of college but living at home. We both had younger siblings as well. This was all very difficult because I had one wild time in college and just out of college. Whoa, those were the days. Anyways, we would go away for weekend trips several times a year to get away from the living at home headache. She would never tell her parents we were away just the two of us. She would always say that a bunch of couples were going away together and shared a room. I always thought her mom appreciated her respecting her enough to lie to her about it and she was able to think that maybe we were always going to Lake Geneva with a group of friends. After dating about two years, I decided to take her on vacation and her mom flipped out. She was so mad at me and her for going away together and setting a bad example for her younger sibling. We went anyways and had a good time. Fast forward awhile and we have been happily married for almost 8 years and her mom and I get along great. On another note, we never lived together until the day after the wedding. (Although sneaking "intimate" moments did get old after a while.) I didn't want to play house. I figured marriage would be long enough without having to live together, but that was just me.

    Entourage

Line of the show for once wasn't Ari. It was Turtle's new girlfriend's younger brother when he said: "Daddy she's jerking off a boy in the car again."
  11. I think it might be Silvio's turn at an episode soon. Baccala, Paulie, Christopher, Hesh have all been featured this season. Come on, give us the Consigliere.
  12. I guess my Cub fan brother-in-law won't be seeing Neil Cotts working out at the East Bank Club anymore.
  13. I agree that while the Twins, Indians and Tigers series' are more important in the overall scheme of things, for six days a year, the intensity in the crowd is far greater for Cubs-Sox. It's just that your relative, spouse, neighbor, coworker could probably be a fan of the other team in town and you see them all year. Even for the Cubs. The Cards' series are big at Wrigley and the StL fans pour into the Northside, but they go home. When your cutting your lawn in St. Charles, the next to you and across from you is almost definitely a Cub or Sox fan. So even when you have to snowblow the driveway, that damn Cub fan is still there in the next driveway.

  15. QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 18, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) Santo sining take me out to the ball game, what a great baseball moment. Um, ah, aah, ohhh, ohhh, nooooo, ooooo, um, um, let me see, um, ehh, ohh, woooohh, whoa, uh, well, uh, old ball game.
  16. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 18, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) I'm beginning to think Iguchi would be better served as the #2 hitter. Two years of success and a world championship will make you think that.
  17. Of course MB pitches the game I want to go the longest. I was hoping to get home and see the end. Oh well, Contreras will probably have a 75 pitch first inning Sunday when I am at the Shrine.
  18. Toby Hall spending time in the cage with Walk.
  19. Over on errors/misplayed balls by our LF/3B today ..... 6.
  20. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ May 18, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) Derek Lee is not in the lineup for the Cubs for what its worth. Yes taking one of the best hitters in either league out of the Cubs lineup will help.
  21. A reporter once said that when they have nothing really to write about, they just ask Ozzie a question and let him run with it and pretty soon he'll say some thing controversial (dumb). Ozzie simply is not smart enough to not take the bait. AJ is like Dino Cicarelli, an instigator, but smart. He knows just when to annoy people. Ozzie just can't avoid controversy.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Ozzie has to be smarter than most people give him credit for. You don't win a world series if you are a completely phsycopathic idiot especially with that team. Its not like had a team full of all-stars that won it. GRINDERS!
  23. North is a big blowhard and although I listen to him, sometimes he is unlistenable. But I feel MJH are just as unlistenable sometimes as well. First off, Ozzie is a big baby sometimes. He is starting to remind me of Ditka after the Bears won the Superbowl. Anyone who questioned him, he went off on and acted like a big jerkoff. Ozzie will eventually lose this team. Sooner or later the players will tune him out. As for the poster above talking about Sirius radio. Great, I like Sirius and XM, but where would you hear that particular interview on Sirius?
